Job search strategy number three.
You should browse various job boards.
At CareerPoint Solutions, we have a job board
where we post jobs from our client and other open positions.
However, I want to mention that we are not the one-stop shop for all jobs,
So you shouldn't just use one job board.
You should use as many as you can.
Browse all the different job boards,
Find the opportunities available that fit your criteria
and apply to them.
Like if you want to check the jobs that we've already posted on our site,
I would just advise you to go to www.careerpoint.co.ke/jobs
You'll see what we've posted.
But you shouldn't stop there.
Still use other job boards.
But as you're looking for these jobs,
you should be able to pay more attention to the following.
Number one, take a look at the job title.
Does the job title fit in with what you can do?
Take things a little deeper and look at the responsibilities and the qualifications.
Can you perform those roles?
Are you qualified for that position?
The second thing you need to look at is the recruiter,
the name of the recruiter or the company that is hiring at that particular point.
In the job description, it is important for you to look at
What are the exact instructions they have given on how to apply for a job.
I can tell you as a recruiter,
That's the number one thing we use to kick out candidates.
If you are unable to follow the instructions that are given to you on how to apply,
We just conclude then that you will probably not be able to follow the instructions once you get the job.
It is therefore important that you follow the instructions on how to apply.
Some jobs will let you go to their website where they have a career portal
And you fill out your application there.
If that's what's required of you, do it.
Don't send an email.
Some other positions will simply ask you to send your CV and cover letter via an email address.
Just send an email with your cover letter.
And you see, we don't put additional attachments that haven't been requested.
It is important for you to follow the instructions on how to apply for a job.
You might get kicked out of a job that you're fully qualified for,
But no one took the time to read your application because you didn't follow the instructions.
Another thing you need to pay extra attention to in the job description are keywords.
These are phrases of words or words that are used in the job description
and later are used by ATS, application tracking systems,
filter out the applications that have come in.
Even if the company is not using this ATS,
when you use the right keywords from the job description in your cover letter and in your CV,
You're just communicating to them or articulating that you're the best candidate.
Search strategy number four.
You should be able to attend career events.
Attending different career events, especially career fairs,
is one of the best ways to secure the best job.
Here you can prepare by actually registering for these events in advance
And that gives the recruiters, the organizers, your contacts
And you can keep communicating with them and sharing with them what opportunities that you are looking for
and how they can come in and help you secure a job.
It might just be the beginning of a conversation and networking with the right people
to help you get that dream job that you're looking for.
That leads me to job search strategy number five.
Let your networks work for you.
If you lack an effective network, then you're surely missing out on the best job opportunities.
According to LinkedIn, 85% of the best-paying jobs are obtained through networking.
Networking is still an effective way to get your next job.
At first, it might look pretty tough, but as time goes on,
you will thank yourself for taking the time and energy to invest in building your networks.
Besides the physical networking, you can decide to go online.
Use LinkedIn. It's the largest professional networking platform in the world
And you can be able to connect with individuals, with professionals in your industry
and they'll be your gateway to your next job.
Job search strategy number six.
Learn skills with temporary jobs.
If you're unable to secure that best high-paying job,
There's no need for you to just sit at home idling, waiting for it.
Rather, I would advise you to choose a low-paying job, a temporary job
that will give you an opportunity to learn new skills and also fill that time.
Instead of having job gaps in your CV, you can use that temporary job to fill the gap.
And especially if it's a reputable organization, it can give you some extra points.
Job search strategy number seven.
Check out the companies' website.
If you have a specific company or group of companies that you would like to join,
It is important for you to check their websites, learn more about them
and at the same time check their career section.
Other companies would prefer to post these jobs on their website rather than job boards.
Identify the companies you would like to work for,
keep checking their website and their career portal
and at the same time you will be able to learn more about the company and what they do
which will give you an added advantage if you call for an interview
Because you'll have done your homework in advance
And unconsciously you'll be more like an insider rather than someone who's just looking for a job.
Job search strategy number eight.
Track your job search process.
Besides tracking the companies you're interested in,
it is important for you to keep a comprehensive record of the different jobs you have applied for,
the different positions in which companies and which one actually invited you for an interview
and how you do your follow-up.
This information is important for you to keep track of your job application process
And at the same time you can be able to reflect after a period of time
to figure out is this job search strategy that I'm using working for you or not.
Identify what works, double down on that and what doesn't work, get rid of it.
Tracking is a life skill and you can still use it in your job search.
Job strategy number nine.
Don't limit your options.
Sometimes we get into our heads and limit our options that I can only do this kind of work in this kind of company.
If you're desperately looking for a job, it doesn't hurt to broaden your options and say,
Yes, I will do any kind of job that comes my way to be able to build on my skills
and at the same time earn some income.
That should not distract you from keeping your eyes on the prize.
You have that dream job that you've always looked forward to.
But in the meantime, do what you have to do to be able to get along
and build your CV in terms of skills and experience.
Job search strategy number 10.
You need to stay persistent.
Like anything else, it is not easy to get a job and you need to be persistent.
Keep applying, keep following up, keep looking for new opportunities.
You shouldn't give up.
At some point, it feels like there's really nothing going on.
But I can assure you, you should find a way to keep yourself motivated and persistent in this job search.
It is said that you only get the prize at the end of the race.
So you can't give up halfway and expect to still get the prize.
So it is very important for you to stay motivated and persistent.
So be persistent and maintain a positive mental attitude throughout your job search.
Sooner or later, you'll be able to secure that perfect job you've always been looking for.
And before I give you the extra tip strategy, I want to say here at CareerPoint Solutions,

That is the bonus strategy that I want to share with you and it will help you in all spheres of your life.
That is setting goals.
Just like anything in life, even in job search, you should be able to set your goals.
What is the job that you are looking for?
How many jobs will you apply for in a day?
You might have daily calls, weekly calls.
How many interviews do you want to attend at the end of the year?
How do you prepare for these interviews?
How many career events or networking events would you like to attend?
How do you improve your elevator pitch?
How can you improve your CV and cover letter skills?
And also how to improve in general your soft skills and hard skills?
