hello everyone I'm Sarah of Rich
textures crochet and welcome today we're
going to learn how to crochet the cross
double and post Stitch now this is a
stitch pattern that looks really great
in two colors as I have done it here and
it also has a really great texture to it
now this is the front side of your work
and then this is the back back side
still a really neat looking design today
for the tutorial I'm going to be using
some worsted weight cotton yarn this is
the Puma cotton by Lion Brand and uh
I'll be working here today with two
different colors color a and color B I
might use my brown here for the color a
and then the gray for the color B you're
also going to need a 5 mm or an h8
crochet hook and a copy of the free
written instructions which are on my
website at R textures crochet.com it
will be linked down in the video video
description so thank you so much for
joining me while you're here I invite
you to take a look around say hello down
in the comments let me know what you
would use this stitch for if you have
any ideas that you would like to share
and uh don't forget to subscribe there
are free crochet patterns and Stitch
tutorials uploaded every single
week now our Stitch today is worked in
row so you're going to start by taking
your color a and by making a slip knot
you're then going to work a foundation
chain and our foundation chain today
will need to be an odd number of chains
so today I'm simply going to chain 21
once you have worked that Foundation
chain an odd number of stitches you're
going to begin Row one by working a
single crochet into the second chain
from your
hook and then single crochet into each
Stitch all the way across
at the end of Row one you're going to
chain three and turn your work your
chain three counts as a double crochet
stitch now for row two we're going to
work a series of crossed double crochet
stitches all the way across until our
final Stitch to work your crossed double
crochet you're going to skip the next
Stitch and work a double crochet into
your
next you're then going to work a double
crochet stitch into the previous skipped
Stitch before the last Stitch worked so
working over top of that preious double
crochet stitch and into the skipped
Stitch just work one double crochet
stitch
skip the next Stitch into the next work
one double crochet
stitch then reach back and over top of
the Stitch just worked work a double
crochet into the previous skipped
Stitch you're going to repeat this all
the way across skip the next Stitch
double crochet into the next then double
crochet into the previous skipped Stitch
all the way across until you have one
stitch remaining
when you come all the way across and
have one stitch remaining you're going
to work one final double crochet into
the top of the final
Stitch chain one which does not count as
a stitch and turn your
work now for Row three we're going to
single crochet into the first Stitch
and single crochet into the next
Stitch you're then going to work a front
post single crochet around the post of
the next Stitch to work a front post
single crochet you're going to bring
your hook in front and insert your Hook
from the front around back and out
through the front again around the post
of the next Stitch yarn over draw up a
loop yarn over and complete your single
crochet that is your front post single
crochet stitch you're then going to work
a single crochet into the next the top
of the next Stitch followed by a front
post single crochet around the post of
the next you're going to repeat this all
the way across single crochet into the
next Stitch followed by a front post
single crochet into the
next all the way across cross you're
going to finish off with a single
crochet into the top of your final
Stitch and in that final Stitch you're
also going to switch over to your color
B I'll show you how I like to switch
colors when I come all the way across
I have one final Stitch remaining which
is my turning chain so I'm going to work
a single crochet into the top of this
turning chain but at this time I want to
switch to my color B so to switch to my
color B I'm going to insert my hook into
the top of the Turning chain yarn over
and draw up a loop you're then going to
drop your color
a pick up your color B
and place it on your hook and pull
through you're now all set to continue
working with your color
B at this time you can chain
three and turn your
work now if you are going to be working
an edging on the edge of your piece you
can leave this yarn attached your color
a
and then just carry it up the side uh
otherwise you may fasten off and weave
it in it's up to you I like to just
carry mine up especially if I'm working
a project where I'll be joining to
another piece or if I'm working that
edging once you have chain three and
turned your work you're going to work in
your color b a row of cross double
crochet so skip that next Stitch work a
double crochet into your next Stitch
then double crochet back into your
previous skip
Stitch skip the next Stitch double
crochet into your next
Stitch and then double crochet back into
the previous skipped Stitch you're going
to repeat this all the way
across in your color
B e
once you come all the way
across and have one stitch remaining
you're going to finish off by working
your double crochet into the top of that
Stitch chain one and turn your
work you're now once again for row five
going to work a single crochet into that
first Stitch single crochet into the
next Stitch then front post single
crochet around the post of the next
Stitch you're going to repeat that all
the way across single crochet into the
next followed by your front post single
crochet around the post of the next all
the way across you'll work your final
single crochet into that final Stitch
and switch back to your color
a when you come across to that chain
three insert your hook into the top of
your chain
three yarn over drop a loop and if
you've left your color a just down
beside you're going to pick up your
color a place it on your hook and gently
pull
through chain
one and turn your
work that should be chain three and turn
your work now for the rest of the
pattern you're going to Simply repeat
your rows two and
three changing color after every two
rows so beginning with the crossed
double crochet all the way across then
come back working your single crochets
switch to your next color and repeat you
can repeat that for your pattern and
then fasten off weaving your end
and that's all there is to working this
crossed double and post Stitch so thank
you so much for joining me once again I
invite you to subscribe take a look
around if you happen to make something
with this Stitch and share it on social
media do be sure to tag Rich textures
crochet I do love to combine and admire
your work until next time happy
