Condo associations can no longer apply. News Channel 8's Linnie

Good afternoon. Well, this year, state lawmakers decided to pour $30 million
into the my safe florida condo program. And even those who will benefit from
this project, they say it still won't go far enough. Condo associations
navigating the high cost of insurance after a steep spike in premiums over
recent years. We did have a huge insurance premium increase, like $300,000
increase that we hadn't budgeted for. Some say the cost of owning a condo is
climbing. Condo fees are going up and insurance is going up. The state
offering a potential solution to help rolling out the my safe florida condo
program this month. It gives condo associations a free inspection, then up
to $175,000 in grant funding for improvements and hurricane protection.
And will it be helpful? It's certainly a win win for the association. Eric
Glaser is a board certified condo attorney keeping a close watch on the
new initiative, especially after the dollars ran dry within a week, but
still voicing concerns. The help may not be enough. Maybe in a small building,
$175,000 means something. But the truth is, in a larger type community
association, that might be 2% of what's needed and the association is still
gonna get hit with a large bill. So the my safe florida condo program, very
similar to the my safe florida home program, but that program also went dry
within a few days. So we will follow up on that. State lawmakers say that
conversations will continue when they meet again in March, reporting live in
Tampa. Lenny Sioux Paul eight on your side. Thanks, Lenny is
