Hey, how's it going everybody? Timothy here and in today's video I wanted to talk about
finding jobs and more specifically how to find a job quickly. Now I know one of the worst feelings
in the world can be when you're unemployed, when you're looking for a job, you get up every morning
you got that pit you know in your stomach because you know you're not making any money, you know
you just got to go out there and you know try to find a job and you know you're just filling
out these applications and emailing resumes and making these phone calls and at the end of the
day you feel so down and depressed because you haven't found another job and the only thing you
have to look forward to is doing the same thing all over again tomorrow. It's a horrible feeling,
trust me I've been there but uh over the years having been in that situation a number of different
times I will admit that when I was younger I wasn't always the best at holding down jobs long
term so I've been unemployed a couple different times. I actually have come up with some strategies
and some tips that helped me to find a job quickly whenever I was unemployed. Sometimes I would find
a job within a week within two weeks so I wanted to share these tips today with everyone so if
you're out there and you're unemployed please listen to these tips because it can help you
find a job very fast. Now the number one tip to finding a job quickly is one that a lot of people
frown upon but it's always worked for me and that is temp agencies. Temporary agencies, staffing
agencies, sometimes even day labor, these places are actually going to be your best friends when
it comes to finding a job quickly and it's because they are like the only people in town who are in
daily communication and contact with employers who are looking for jobs. You know they know temp
agencies know where the jobs are they know who the companies are looking to hire and they can
expedite this process. I have used temp agencies many times and on a couple different occasions
I called up I went up there I filled out the application I went through the temp agency
interview process and within either like the next day or within like a couple days they had me at a
job. Now sometimes these jobs were just one day gigs but they would keep getting me a bunch of
those but other times they were like daily you know nine to five day in and day out week in and
week out jobs that lasted for several months. There also were times that I worked through the temp
agency first job I went to the people liked me I worked there for like I think it was the three
month mandatory period you have to work there through the temp agency and then I got hired on
permanent at that job but every time I have gone to a temp agency they have found me some work and
they found it for me very quickly like I said sometimes the very next day. There's also been
times when they got me a job quickly I didn't like it I went in there said hey don't like this job
a couple days later they had me at another job so I highly recommend one of the first things you do
the day you get laid off the day you quit whatever happens or the next day definitely sometime within
that week you know if you want to take a couple days to enjoy being unemployed go ahead but within
that week find all the temp agencies staffing agencies day labor places within like an hour
radius of where you live call them up go in fill out the applications you know go through the
interview process get in their system because they can find you a job very quickly they expedite the
process like I said within the next day you could be working making money. Okay so tip number two
for finding a job quickly is to be proactive the days are gone when you could just like sit on the
internet and read classifieds look on craigslist or or read the newspaper do they still put
classifieds in the newspaper I don't even know do they even have newspapers anymore I don't know
those days are gone the way to find a job now is to be proactive you need to get out there
one of the things I always think about is what industries or businesses might be hiring right
now for instance like right now as I'm making this video it's near the end of the year a lot
of companies are hiring seasonal workers go to the mall go to the stores go to Walmart go to Target
hey do y'all need to hire somebody you know are you looking for seasonal workers I'm here I'm
available what do I need to do ask to talk to a manager be proactive think about jobs that might
have high turnover rates as jobs that people don't want to do UPS FedEx are physically demanding they
have weird hours jobs like that go to those places hey I'm here I'm available to work immediately
who do I need to talk to let me fill out an application take your resume with you you know
leave that with somebody worst case leave your uh you know your phone number if the person you
need to talk to isn't there but you know just find places that might be looking for employees
immediately go try to get a hired on with them and these might not be jobs that you want but this
doesn't have to be your long-term job you can get hired this job maybe work a season work a few
months while you're doing that you can be looking for a job you really want also to think about uh
you know whatever job you previously were in what do you have experience in go to uh businesses that
are along those same lines say you're in construction and you get laid off uh call look up
you know google all the construction companies in your area go by their offices if you're driving
along the road you see some people building the building building a house hop out hey here's my
resume where's the foreman where's the boss let me talk to him basically you just want to be proactive
instead of sitting at home wallowing in self-pity and honestly filling out maybe two applications a
day i've been there i know you don't really do a lot at home get out beat the streets drive around
take the bus do whatever you have to do you know and find places that might not have advertised
that they're hiring yet or they might not have hung the help wanted sign in the window yet but
they're looking for employees go to these people uh let them know that you have experience you're
willing to work uh that says a lot to people i mean if you think about it if you're a hiring
manager or you are a store manager would you rather sift through you know 20 applications a day
or would you rather be able to just have somebody walk in and say hey i'm here you know i'd much
rather someone be right there i could talk to them interview them as opposed to sifting through all
these applications and resumes and once again i have used this method before i just walked up in
a place one time are you hiring actually a couple different times and they said yeah one time the
lady was like come back tomorrow i got hired the next day other times they were like hey you know
you got to fill in the application but you know give me your name and i'll pull your application
when it comes through they did within a week at a job so this method does work and now my final
method um is one this kind of uh new to this day and age and that is using your social media network
to help you find a job we all have these social media accounts and we have you know some of us
hundreds of thousands of people friends on these accounts um we can use our social media for more
than just posting vacation pictures and all the other stuff that we post to try to make our lives
look so much better than they are or we can use social media for way more than just creeping
you know other people's lives use it to your advantage when you need a job a simple post tweet
video whatever hey i'm out of work you know this is what i do this is the experience i've have
if you know anyone who's hiring you know please let me know that can go a long way to getting you
a job i know it may seem a little embarrassing to tell the whole world that you're you know don't
have a job but you know tuck your ego your self-esteem your pride put it to the side for a
bit um you know and just let the people know on excuse me all your social media you're looking
for a job uh people have said for years you know the saying it's not what you know it's who you
know never has it been a better time uh to be able to get in contact with all the people you know
and i have seen this happen many a time um i'm always having people tell me about jobs
via social media even when i don't need a job um i've actually had it work for me via youtube
when i needed a job once and i wasn't even talking about being unemployed to try to get a
job i was just you know sharing it in a video because i needed to talk about it because i was
so depressed and a few days later after i posted the video a company actually got in contact with
me via youtube uh via youtube uh direct messaged me and said they had a online job they thought i
might you know be able to do i did it um it was a part-time gig but the pay was just enough to pay
my bills so it worked out great i could do that job online in the evenings and during the day i
was still looking for work and actually did that job until i found a permanent job so social media
does work put it out there hey i need a job there will be someone out there i promise you who has
an idea of someone who might be hiring um you know someone who might be looking for an employee like
you and chances are a lot of times it will be jobs that otherwise you would have never known about
but your friends knew about them so those are just three tips to help you find a job
temp agencies bring for being proactive and using social media like i said i've used all of these
and they all work don't be that guy or that woman who just sits at home and you know just
you're looking for a job but you're not really looking for a job now use these tips get you a
job quickly and like i said it does not have to be the job that you you know want long term i feel
like a lot of times people are so caught up in you know i'm not going to you know just take this
job because it's not going to pay me enough money or you know it's not the type of job you know i've
had way better jobs i'm not going to lower myself to take that type of job sometimes people you got
to swallow your pride get you a job just somewhere you know get you a job anywhere that's bringing
some money in uh bringing some bills in because the quickest way to go broke is to be spending
money and not bringing any in so you just got got to get you a little part-time gig somewhere
uh to bring you some money in go out there do that use the methods that i just mentioned you
can do that quickly and then later on you can find the job you really want but there's really
no reason especially uh in this day and age uh to be unemployed uh for more than a couple weeks
anything longer than a month unacceptable use these tips get you a job quick fast and start
bringing in the big paychecks again thanks for watching talk to you later
