Answering Parents’ Questions About HPV Vaccination: Why isn’t HPV vaccination required for school?

[Music] okay Christopher is due for his vaccines today that includes the HPV vaccine Mom I thought I was due for only two shots today well I thought the same thing and I read that it said he only needed two shots for school well each state decides which vaccines are mandated or required to attend school it varies from state to state in our practice we make immunization recommendations based upon the national childhood immunization schedule and professional organizations and that includes the HPV vaccination which we recommended for almost 20 years and it's just as important as all the other vaccines on the schedule HPV vaccination prevents certain types of cancer and that's why we make the recommendation to all of our patients Christopher's age I didn't know that was the case yes it is so important that I got both of my kids vaccinated even though it wasn't required by their schools so what do you think you got room for one more shot today it is to prevent cancer and it sounds kind of serious all right let's do this [Music]
