#HillaryClinton was in Portland on Monday night promoting her latest book, "Something Lost, Something Gained: Reflections on Life, Love, and Liberty." Eight years after Clinton's failed bid for president against Donald Trump, those who supported the former Secretary of State are looking ahead to November.
Biden. Perhaps no one quite knows what it's like to go up against Trump on
election night. Then Hillary Clinton, who was back in Portland tonight,
promoting her latest book. Catherine Cook was in that audience and joins us
in the newsroom. Catherine David. For those at tonight's event, the timing
felt significant. Eight years ago, most of them voted for Hillary Clinton,
believing she'd become the nation's first female president. Now many are
putting those same hopes in Kamala Harris, something audience members and
Clinton wanted to talk about
the name on the marquee Hillary Clinton. But those gathered at the
schnitz to see her Monday night were buzzing just as loudly over another
name. Kamala Harris. Yeah, I absolutely believed in her and the Democratic
Party, so that's why I'm here to represent as well and looking forward
to Kamala Harris being the next president. Please welcome to the stage
former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Governor Tina Kotech.
Once on stage, Clinton herself through support behind Harris Governor Tina
Kotech served as moderator. Honestly, Tina, I think that she's run a near
flawless campaign. I don't know what else she could do
to make her case. And yet it's gonna be a very close election. Clinton is on a
national tour promoting her new book, Something Lost, Something Gained
reflections on life, love and liberty. Attendees paid anywhere from $76 up to
469 for a VIP experience with Clinton. Some look for savings elsewhere. Oh,
I'm gonna get the book from the library.
On stage, Clinton shared her fears over the state of women's reproductive
rights. Don't turn your backs on people from places like Idaho because they're
American citizens, too, and their rights should not depend upon what
state they're living in. If they're Americans, this was not Clinton's first
time at the schnitz promoting a book in 2017. She was here discussing her
memoir called What Happened. She wrote it after her failed 2016 presidential
bid against Donald Trump. What we have learned about Russian interference in
the election is more than alarming. It's a clear and present danger to
western democracy, and it's right out of Putin's playbook. Now, years later,
some argue little has changed. In four weeks, Americans will once again choose
their next president. They have a lot to look back on. I was so crushed in 2016
and I felt like the lesson was no little girl. You cannot grow up to be
president. And here we are eight years later, and I just I want to hope and
I'm so afraid of getting crushed again. Clinton shared some behind the scenes
anecdotes about the current campaign. She said when Harris was prepping for
her debate with Trump, she used the same Trump stand in that Clinton used in
2016. David, that's an interesting nugget right there. All right. Thank
you, Catherine. We'll see how it goes in a couple weeks.
