Thank you so much for coming to see me today.
Today, you're here to get an ear examination,
but it's not just any ear examination, is it?
No, this is a sleep test examination.
Have you had one of these before?
No, but I've got the records here,
and I know you've come in for ear examinations before,
but you haven't done one of these tests.
I mean, it's reasonably new,
and we're just going through candidates and patients
who we feel like this would really benefit from,
and you are a strong contender, for sure.
A sleep ear examination basically has three tiers,
level one, two, and three, or one, two, three.
And basically, we go through different intensities
with going through different sounds close to your ear,
really close, and then I'm able to identify
what sort of sounds and tones help you relax,
help you fall asleep, and then this is,
all this information's put together
to cater for something that's very personalised for you,
so to help you sleep.
Now, being part of this doctor surgery,
you get access to all of our things that we do here.
One of them, as I'm sure you well know,
by visiting me before,
is that we are sleep specialists here,
so we like to try and improve your sleep,
make you feel better,
and basically enhance just your general wellbeing.
So this all happens through going through this three tiers,
this quick test, recently quick,
and you should hopefully feel three different intensities
here, and when I say intensities,
that means it's gonna get more and more relaxed as we go on.
So we're just going to check up here
that all your details are the same,
nothing has changed.
Address, yep, phone number, the same, okay,
email address, okay, that's great, that's really good.
So you're one of my top patients,
and when you come in,
always just like to make sure that this is always
gonna be up to date here for you,
and if you need to contact me,
it's still the same number and all of that.
So as you can tell, behind us,
it's more of a little bit of a sleepy environment,
so if you feel the need throughout any of this test
to perhaps close your eyes,
maybe just drift off, daydream,
or in fact fall asleep,
that is our intention for today,
and that's what I'd very much like you to do.
So you just switch off whatever you're doing,
and we can get through this test,
so we'll alternate between both of your ears,
left and right, we'll do these different intensities
of sounds, and put together something
really nice here for you, okay, that's great.
And if you're just happy with all of the details there,
that's fine, anything else you'd like to fill in,
you could just put a little squiggle down there
if you'd like, brilliant, that's great.
So that just ensures that you've been here
for this little test here,
so then you can be locked later on.
Okay, so let's move that over like that.
So as we go through the test,
through level tier one to three,
in between, I'm just going to lock down
some things which I've noticed,
and hopefully this can enable me to see
things that you find even more relaxing,
some things that maybe it's not as relaxing
as some of the other things that you're listening to.
So there's three tiers, each tier has three sounds,
and we'll work from left to right.
Okay, so first what we'll do will be an ear inspection.
We'll do this to make sure that your ears
are gonna be perfectly clean, in good health,
and this will enable us to have
the best possible test, sleep test experience, okay?
So, if you're feeling fully relaxed there,
I can get my otoscope out, and we can take a closer look.
So I've got my otoscope here,
so we're just gonna switch that on.
Just gonna gently place it in your left ear, okay?
Have a look in your eardrum, okay, there we go.
As I said, what we're doing is making sure
everything is nice and clear and free of earwax,
looking healthy, so you know that you're gonna receive
these sounds in the best way possible
for our little test to help you sleep.
Okay, so I'm looking in there,
that's looking very, very as it should,
which is what you want to hear.
Yep, okay, deep in there, there we go, there we go.
Just gonna remove that there,
and just gonna come in a little bit here.
Gonna rest that gently on your ear.
Perfect, that's really good, all right.
So, let me just get my torch here.
So just gonna inspect around your ear,
so it's almost like just tracing around your ear,
just feeling that everything is in good health.
Okay, around the pinna, around your earlobe.
Okay, that's all looking good.
Move it forward a little bit,
I'm gonna check the back of your ear.
Run my fingers down, okay, just run my fingers down.
Okay, so just checking the back, that's very healthy,
it's a very healthy ear you've got there.
First thing I'm gonna do is look at your right ear,
here, with any of our tests for your ear.
It's looking really, really nice,
and your earlobes, they're looking good.
Okay, now I'm gonna take a little inspect in here.
Got my otoscope here, okay,
just gonna shine that into your ear there,
I'm just gonna gently place that there.
Shouldn't really feel anything.
How's that there for you?
Okay, looking really excellent, that's what we want.
Okay, that's looking good, that's looking good in there.
Okay, and just as we want it.
Right, so we've got one more torture in here.
I'm just gonna have a real look inside your right ear here,
that's looking just as it should, really, really nice.
And hopefully this will be nice and relaxing here for you
if you feel the need to fall asleep already,
but like I said, we'll have the items
which should, in fact, make you feel relaxed
and fall asleep in no time.
But just an initial inspection here,
right here, it's looking pretty good.
There we go, that's great.
So all of the check is looking really good,
nice and healthy.
I don't think it was too long ago since you came to see me
and we had an ear examination,
wasn't too long ago, was it?
And you had an eye examination recently with me.
That's the one, okay, so just going to update,
so everything's looking perfectly healthy,
really good, all nice and clear of earwax
and anything like that.
So that means for doing this test
that you're gonna have the best possible experience
when it comes to the three-tier sleeping test.
Okay, all right.
So we're gonna get extra close now
and we're gonna start with this test.
So like I said, you feel a little bit sleepy, that's fine.
And that's our intention, okay?
Good, okay, let's begin.
So tier one, showing signs of relaxation.
So we're gonna move on to
tier two test,
one patient showing relaxation,
sleepiness in arm progressing nicely.
The sleep test, doing really great,
getting nice and relaxed.
The sleep test is all about this,
testing out the sounds, letting your ears do all the work,
so just continue to enjoy yourself.
Let's continue.
Media, round three,
showing continuing signs of relaxation.
Certain side ear,
and then on left, relaxation.
Positive sleep signals
and all looking very good.
That's so good.
I'll just like to say that you've done so well today.
I'll get this all locked up for you
and onto the system for you to look at,
but your sleep test just worked perfectly
as we progressed throughout.
You showed signs of greater relaxation,
which of course is what you want when you go down to sleep.
You showed me that your ability to go from alert and awake
to fall into that relaxation,
that time in between is what I'm measuring here.
And it's a very healthy line that you've got down there,
which goes into your relaxation.
Okay, so we were monitoring you there.
Okay, I've got your heart rate,
monitoring is looking absolutely great
as we go down to sleep.
All levels looking good.
And as you were drifting off to sleep,
you showed all the physical signs
which I was looking out for as well,
as we progress in each tier
and go for more relaxing sounds as we go on.
So that was our sleep test
and I hope that it was very enjoyable for you.
So what I'm gonna do,
I'm gonna leave the room here.
Okay, and you can relax here as long as you wish.
Okay, and then I'll see you again soon.
Okay, so thanks for coming in to see the sleep
or to perform the sleep test.
You did really great.
Take care of yourself.
Cheerio.
