hi it's Ann from the useless crafter
thanks for joining and please subscribe
if you haven't already but today we're
going to be doing this cute little cake
topper there you go and uh we're really
going to be focusing on print and cut
features so you can see on the side the
14 and this little gift print then cut
is going to be so it's such a good
feature for you to know how to use um
and some of you may already be using it
but I'm still a few of my tips and
tricks um it's great for capturing all
the details um and it's great for
putting out like stickers and stuff too
so um like I said it's a great feature
to to really understand how to use all
right I'm going to make myself smaller
because no one needs to see me this big
I wanted to make sure you saw the cake
topper and then oops hold on here what
just
happened all right oh my gosh I did it
again let's see
okay let me move myself over so I'm in
design space right now as you can see
this is my profile and I have this
project already um set for you to cut
and and be done with it you would just
click on it and click customize and look
at how cute that is right just love
everything about this simple simple
simple kick topper all right let's go to
customize so that you can see what it
looks like and you can make changes to
it but here's hello gallentine I'm going
to take that out this has got a T of
offsets by itself then we have this
print then cut and this print then cut
and then a few more offsets some more
layers um as you can see it's a super
simple cake topper that took I don't
know 20 minutes to do so um this is an
easy way to skip I mean I love all the
details and I love beautiful card stock
but sometimes you got to just do it and
use spr and cut because look at all the
details that you get from here um this
would take quite a few pieces as well as
you know sometimes it's so small so
anyway let's get started so this is
ready for you if you don't want to learn
how to do it it's ready for you to just
go in and cut but if you want to learn
how to use it we'll keep this here as um
as an easy um visual for us all right
let's go into images and we're going to
type in hello gallentine so hello
gallentine is
actually um an image that is ready to go
so I think this is it right
here um so we're going to add it Okay so
we've got that um let's see I don't
remember what I used for this one so
let's just go and we're going to cheat
because I already have the image over
here and we're going to go into our
panel over here so it says it's right
here and we can click on print then cut
right click on it to go down and see the
image info which hold on let me move my
face over a little bit so you can see
what I'm seeing so in the
panel um this is the print thing cut
we're going to right click on it so we
can get more info you would use this
also to see which what the font is if
you've used text for something else all
right we're going to scroll all the way
down and image info is this so it's a
gift and here's the gift and we're going
to just add
it then we're going to
go let's see we're going to exit out of
here we're going to add this little
calendar
piece excuse me and it says it's right
here but it's flattened so we're going
to click on this button to kind of like
undo everything and see what it is print
then cut here right click on it go down
and click on image info and it's
Valentine's Day so we will add that and
now that we have all of our basically
all of our images this is it we're going
to create this hello gallentine so let
me make this a lot smaller and you can
see these these little spiral tabs I
would not want to deal with those little
pieces and gluing them the gluing part's
not as bad as just cutting and keeping
track of them so um you know while this
is a simple little image it's a lot of
pieces so that is why I wanted to
incorporate the print then cut feature
okay so let's do this step by step first
thing is hello Valentine is all together
it's one image it's a basic cut right it
says right here um and it's all together
I normally would just slice this apart
but I see how close this is and it's
going to be very difficult to slice
hello from gallentine and the reason why
I wanted to do that is you can see in my
image here um is that I wanted hello to
be a different color and gallentine to
be a different color so that's going to
be um so what we'll do is we we will
just make a copy of this so we've got
two images we're going to click on the
first one and go to
contour and we are going to click on
hello so I if you can look over here you
see Hello disappeared I have just the
inside pieces that I need to click on I
love the Contour feature for that okay
and look at this hello is gone and I
just have gallentine left now I'm going
to go to this one and I want to keep
hello right so I'm gonna hit Contour I'm
just going to hide all and
then I want to add back these little
guys I'm going show you what that looks
like and we did it we've got hello
gallentine super simple right okay so
let's line these two up like we want to
and I'm going to make the top one I have
it I'm using red p and I absolutely love
it because it's so bright and and
vibrant and then for gallentine I used a
purple Mirror Mirror foil and I
absolutely adore that as
well okay so I am at this point I'm
going to grab these two and I'm going to
group it together so they always move as
one so as I resize it they're resizing
it together okay so I'm going to make it
a little bit smaller and let's go and do
our first offset so I want to say I did
three offsets
um one of the offsets that I like to do
when I'm doing a lot of color is the
first offset I like to do it in white
because I feel like the colors pop so
let's go to our offset and I do like
having my offsets on the thinner side
these days so I'm going type in 05 hit
Tab and let it and I'm going to look at
this because what I want in that first
offset is I want Hello gallentine to be
connected so that my offset is one piece
and it looks like it is because is um
this the tit the dot on the eye is
connected to the hello so I think this
is good I'm going to click
apply okay then I'm going to make it
white okay now one thing that you might
want to look at is I'm just going to
move this aside let's look at this piece
and I'm going to zoom in even more so
you can see it to me some of these
pieces we don't need these little holes
like that one is so small I'm not even
going to notice it um and it might kind
of jam your cut it's just not worth it
so I'm going to go to contour and I'm
going to get rid of those small ones and
usually they're down here so I'm going
to scroll all the way to the bottom like
this little guy I think is one of these
pieces so I'm going to get rid of that I
don't need that one don't need this
little one so you see that oh these two
disappeared um don't need that one and
don't need that one I'm going to keep
the rest I feel like the rest are big
enough pieces so this is what it's going
to look like it's just just cleaner
right okay so let's move this back
over and if we grab these two and we go
to align and Center we'll Center it
properly okay now let's do one more
offset um okay offset it's going to um
have our last um offset in there and
we're just going to click ply and that
one I did in a baby pink so I'm just
going to put pink there all right then
what did we do we worked on our print
and cut okay so let's look at that I'm
going to zoom out for a second so this
is all good I'm going to grab this and
I'm going to group it together so it's
going to go as one okay now let's look
at this this little guy so this is
already a print and
cut but what I worry about is that the
hearts are going to cut out separately
and then I'm going to have this piece is
going to be four pieces so I'm going to
grab this and I'm going to do an offset
that is smaller than 05 even I'm going
to do maybe 01 and see what that looks
like so 01 gives me just a slight offset
I'm going to apply and I'm going to keep
it at I'm going to make it white so you
can't you don't notice it and then I'm
going to grab these two items and I'm
going to flatten so now it's a bigger
image it's all together it's going to
cut out as one piece the hearts are
attached to the present which is what I
want I don't want the hearts to be cut
separately because I don't want to have
to deal with them okay all right so
we've got that now what you want to do
also is um I'm using a glossy photo
paper and I'm going to want to glue it
onto card stock to make it sturdier so
we're going to grab this and we're going
to duplicate it but on this one I'm
going to go I'm going to unflatten it
okay I'm going to grab the whole thing
and instead of print and cut I'm going
to go to basic cut and I'm going to cut
that in white and so now I have a piece
I'm going to Let's arrange this and send
it to the
back you'll see that I have a piece that
is exactly my that fits this um this
image here let's align it just so that
you can see what I'm talking about so
that way it we have stability for the
image if you have thin paper that you're
using um and then you can do layers so
this I'm going to do a few of them I'm
just going to make a few copies I like
having three layers just in case if you
go and do two layers and realize like
that's enough for you then you can just
keep it we'll move this arranged s to
the
front all right so this is good and I'm
just going to grab this arrange oops not
arrange um can I unline it I canline it
let's Center it and we're going to group
it just so that it's all together um and
when we resize everything we could it'll
all resize together all right so we've
got one thing down on this
one this one I think when you go to do
it it is going to be all one image so
let's look at this guy so right now look
at all the pieces it would cut right it
would cut this little heart this little
heart and all the individual tabs it
would cut out the February in white so
it's a lot of pieces what's nice is when
this image is not flattened yet you can
change the colors if you wanted to so if
you wanted to make the valent the number
14 um maybe a little bit brighter you
can go to Advanced and pick like a
darker a darker pink okay so you can
make those changes before you do this um
what I would do with this also is still
just do a little little offset just to
make sure and that offset where is it
it's this one I'm going to change that
to White so that we don't notice it then
I'm going to grab the whole thing and
we're going to flatten it so it's going
to be all one image that gets cut so
this piece is going to be one and let me
show you what that looks like when I cut
it I don't know if you can see but it's
all just one piece each and that's what
you want because that's a point PR and
cut right it's going to be simple now we
just did this we could have before we if
if you want to think of it as a sticker
cuz you're going to cut it on sticker
paper we could
um well let's see where are we on
this I haven't flattened it right oh no
is that it no this one oh here I did
flatten it already we can unflatten it
let's say you wanted to
add I don't know another text above it
you can still do that on this and even
on this image because you would just
flatten it afterwards but let me just
show you what I mean I mean you would
never do this not this way I'm going to
leave the text the same and whatever but
I'm just going to type my name I want
this to be Ann's calendar I want it to
be I don't know in
purple okay and then I can grab this
whole thing and I can flatten it and now
this whole thing is there so um even if
the print and cut is already the image
is already print and cut you can add
another layer on top and then flatten
everything so you could have done the
same thing with this gift um but you can
see it's so nice to make stickers easy
to make stickers and images all right
same thing with this one we are going to
make a duplicate copy right and we're
going to unflatten this one and grab the
whole thing and we're going to change it
to basic cut
what did it do okay grab all of this
let's align It Center it okay and then
you
can you can just weld it so that you
know it's one one little piece all right
so that's going to be the the copies
that the layers behind it and you can
make a few copies of this change all of
these to White that you're
cutting okay
arrange and put that to the front put
this on top grab all of this these are
just things you do just to make your
life a little bit easier a line Center
it why isn't it centering it's acting a
little weird right now we'll just grab
all of that and we're going to group it
together so now we've got all these
pieces
together
so I put let's make this a little bit
smaller so you can see what my original
one looks like like I have this in front
so I'm going to arrange and bring it to
the front I've got this tilted a little
bit if we like the way it looks that's
tilted too much maybe like
so I think I have it something like this
this one we have up here I wanted to see
the 14 the February and I'm going to
tilt it this way so you can see the
heart peeking out
right um let's see how big is this whole
image it's about 8 in long let's grab
this and see this is a little bit longer
we're going to make it a little bit
smaller there now it's about the same
actually got to make it a little bit
smaller because we're going to do some
offsets so let's make it just a little
bit smaller grab the whole thing I like
having the whole thing with an offset
because then the whole cake topper is
supported by um one big piece okay so in
my offset let me see what I did I did a
pink layer and a red layer so I don't
know okay I don't know why it's doing
that let's ungroup this one for a
second it's acting really weird I'm just
going to move that over for a second
okay let's grab that and let's do our
offset this one I'm going to change back
to 5
05 and we're going to make that first
layer it's in
pink and then we're going to do another
offset and that one is in
red and that's all there is to it to
this kick topper so easy and so fast
right okay so let me delete this one
because I feel like there's something
funky with that image I'm going to
delete Del it let's go back to this one
Let's Pretend We're going to make it I
have a few more tips for you so I'm
going to change this to my Cricket maker
and the reason why I'm doing it from I
know my machines my Cricut maker does
the bre best printed cut that's why I'm
going to change it to that all right
let's go to make it when you're in make
it and you're printing this um I always
like to do a few copies that way you
have
it if one gets messed up you're not
ruining the whole sheet you're still I
don't know you don't have to recut it
again so I'm going to do three images
and let's just continue oh well let's
look at everything all of these will be
triple copies which we're not going to
want to do so I'm going to walk you
through it so don't worry we're going to
be in print then cut let's
continue
and um hopefully it will connect we're
going to send to
printer and oh my goodness
why I okay there um I'm going to go to
my brother because that's my printer I
want to click add bleed because it will
just give you another offset and it will
be more white around it and it will cut
perfectly you also want to use yes to
system dialogue and this is the reason
why when you go to click on it it will
take you to your printer so I want to go
to My Brother printer and I want to go
to preferences
and under preferences I want to change
my media type to glossy paper I'm going
to change let's see my print quality is
good I do want it at fine all of that is
good here I want to do a photo image
then down here I want to change it to
manual I'm going to slide my um photo
glossy photo paper in through my printer
that's just the way it is and I'm going
to click okay I'm not going to do that
because um
I've already done it but that's what you
would do and then you would go and it
would send it to the printer it would
print it out then you now have it
printed out now you're going to put it
on your mat and you're going to select
the paper I would change this to let's
change it to card stock and see what our
options are there's light card stock
that's what I would choose I would click
on this done and you see how um you want
to make sure that when you put it on the
mat
that that it's not upside down it's it
looks exactly the way this picture is
right so that the gifts are on top and
then the calendar is on the bottom and
you want to put it at the z0 you don't
want to move it I mean I know there's a
sensor but for PRN cut because it's so
delicate and what's the word that I'm
looking for a
temperamental and you're crossing your
fingers and doing a dance and hoping
that it cuts out properly I just like to
put the paper exactly the way it's being
showed to me all right so you select
that now you send it to your Cricket so
I know a lot of people if you've never
done prin cup before a lot of people are
always saying how do I get my Cricut to
print your Cricut is not going to print
it's you're going to send it to your
printer through design space so that it
recognizes it puts the sensors on it um
and then you can go and cut it on your
Cricket okay once you've done this and
you've cut it I would cancel out of it I
would change this back to one copy and I
would then cut the rest of this so this
is in white this is in um light pink oh
this is my original one so I changed a
bunch of colors um here's the pink
here's my red P which I absolutely love
I was going to do gold on this one and I
ended up changing that to red but here's
this purple one which I want to show you
right here let me make this bigger I
absolutely love this paper and look at
how it cut even this looks pretty right
and it I'm going to show you the back
you can see it cut perfectly so um it's
always good to find good good good paper
and here it is again you can also see
pictures in my profile in design space
and that is all there is to print and
cut and this cake topper if you wanted
to learn how to do it from the beginning
all right thanks so much and I'll see
you guys next time bye
