Reintroducing Myself (2): How Did I Write My Book?

have you watched my last video reintroducing myself who am I I forgot to mention that I have written a book about my experiences especially what I saw and endured in the labor camp here there is also an OD winning documentary about my story my book is available in both English and Chinese titled witnessing history one woman's fight for freedom and Fong the documentary is called free China the courage to believe I'll provide links to both my books and the documentary for you to explore in a comment area I developed a very strong desire to write a book about what I saw and experienced while I was only halfway through my labor camp time but back then if you didn't deny follow you would never be released even after serving your time so what should I do the mental struggle was far worse than any physical torture I suffered but it's impossible for me to talk about this in a short video so I'll skip the details here I truly hope those interested will read my book to me this was the the most evil and unprecedented form of torture they didn't just want to take away our freedom they also wanted to destroy our spirit and the soul I began writing my book secretly on a laptop just one month after being released from the labor camp while I was still in China each day after writing I copied the content onto two floppy discs hit them and erased everything from my computer knowing I could be arrested again at any moment I completed half of the book before I managed to get a visa to Australia I sent what I had written to my email cleared all records from the laptop arrived in Melbourne downloaded the book from my email and finished the rest there I sent my manuscript to several dozen Publishers in Taiwan and Hong Kong and signed a publishing contract with the first one to reply which was just 4 days later so the Chinese version of my book was published in Taiwan in 2004 but here's an interesting twist I secured a publisher for the English version even before the book was finished how I'll talk about it in my next video
