hey guys so I've just returned home from
my big weekly Supermarket shop this time
I went to leadle so if you're in New
Zealand you probably have never heard of
leadle so it's basically a no fr kind of
discount supermarket we often go to lle
or Aldi these are the main discount
supermarkets here in Germany so I
thought it was about time I did a
grocery haul I haven't done one of these
for ages and I've actually been getting
quite a few grocery haul requests
actually one of my really lovely
subscribers from Canada Natasha has been
asking me for so long if I could do a
grocery haul and I finally am doing well
I know a lot of my non-german
subscribers find these grocery huls
really interesting
and they just like to see what type of
products you can buy in Germany and the
food prices in Germany and I have to say
this is not a fancy haul at all I have
three children so a family of five food
prices have gone up so much in the last
few years due to inflation honestly I
used to buy so many nice organic
products and things like that but now I
have to just cut down on a lot of the
really fancy things and go back Back to
Basics because of the food prices so
yeah just warning you this is not going
to be a really fancy grocery haul it's
just a really basic realistic grocery
haul if you can hear that noise in the
background it is my washing machine on
the spin cycle this grocery shop came to
a grand total of
€75 honestly for me that just seems so
expensive because I used to pay so much
less than that here in Germany but
obviously
food prices have gone up all over the
world and Germany is no exception I
would say some products are very
reasonably priced still here in Germany
but then other products like meat for
example has just gone up dramatically
and I'm noticing that a lot of the
packets are getting smaller and the
prices are going up and the salaries are
not increasing and so yeah I think a lot
of people here in Germany are struggling
quite a lot with just inflation in
general as a New Zealander when I first
came to Germany I was always just so
amazed at how cheap everything was and
now I don't know I think a lot of the
prices are on par with New Zealand
prices which is saying a lot okay so I
laid most of the food items out on the
table I've got a few things in the
kitchen um but this is the majority of
what I bought today first I'll start
with a fresh fruit and vegetables I
actually unpacked some of the fruit and
vegetables I probably should have left
them in the packet actually so you can
see how you know they actually looked
when I bought them as you can see here I
got uh sort of a mediumsized pumpkin I
thought this looked like a really nice
one I'm going to make some pumpkin soup
my family really enjoy pumpkin soup
especially in the winter here I've got a
cucumber this one was really nice and
firm so hopefully it'll taste good over
the summer months we hardly buy any
vegetables because we have a vegetable
garden and oh my goodness I get so
spoiled with these beautiful fresh
veggies that I kind of struggle with the
supermarket version here I got a big bag
of spinach which I will use in salads I
got some roma lettuce there's two kind
of heads of lettuce here um what else
excuse my voice I'm still recovering
from pneumonia so bear with me guys I
know it's like really Croy I got a nice
big red cabbage and a mediumsized white
cabbage I just love making Co SLS and
side dishes with cabbage um I got some
cherry tomatoes these ones are really
yummy but you know once again not as
good as the ones I grow at home in the
garden got a nice big bag of carrots
these ones look really crisp and fresh I
took these out of the plastic bag as I
mentioned I got three zucchinis these
are actually quite small they didn't
have big ones today I got some fresh
dill I love Dill it reminds me of Poland
it just tastes so yummy with salmon and
just as a garnish for anything I got
four red peppers these look really nice
and crispy I got three lemons honestly
it pains me to buy lemons because in New
Zealand there are citrus trees
everywhere and so you just never have to
buy lemons and in Germany you hardly
ever see lemon trees or citrus trees in
general so I have to buy my lemons oh my
goodness and they're not cheap either
then I got a little bag of mandarins and
yeah my kids like them in their lunches
and yeah hopefully these ones taste okay
it's been a bit hid and mess with
mandarins lately these ones look okay we
will see and I got one 1 2 3 4 5 six
apples I think these were red delicious
apples and they looked really nice and
crispy I've got some fresh garlic I use
garlic in basically everything I cook
then some kiwi fruit for a bit of
vitamin C I got a bunch of bananas then
I got this bagg of frozen vegetables I
think that'd be really nice to add to a
stir fry I got some plain oats which I
use for a lot of different things I use
them for porridge I also use them to
make my own musley and also my own musly
bars so yeah really versatile then I got
this salad seasoning so hopefully
that'll be good I've never tried that
before I got some sweet potato fries
which I love they taste so good in the
air fryer they get really nice and
crispy just some regular fries um I also
cook them in the air fryer so yummy so
here I got just a big packet of chicken
fets um I'm going to have these and I
think I can make two meals out of this
maybe so I could add some to a stir fry
and
maybe crumb some I also got this leer it
is a sort of a staple here in barara and
my kids love to have it inside a bread
roll sort of heat it up a little bit
inside a bread roll um and it's kind of
like a sausage type Meatloaf I don't
know how I would explain it then I got
this XXL packet of beef mints which I'm
going to split in half because this
one's an 800 g pack could have meant so
yeah I'll split that in half and I'll
make you know spaghetti bnet um the
other half I could make maybe burger
petties or something I'm not sure but it
will definitely last us a couple of
meals then I got this big piece of pork
which is like the neck area of the pork
and I'll make a roast with this um
actually my husband is really good at
cooking pork so I'm going to leave that
meal up to him then I just got some
chicken drumsticks these were really
reasonably priced I think I paid €550
for all of these and so I'm not sure
what I'm going to make with them but
yeah I'll think of something I got some
OCTA yogurts so these are just two three
packs I usually actually eat Greek
yogurt just the plain unsweeten Greek
yogurt but we already had a big tub of
that in the fridge next up is a 10 pack
of eggs I accidentally grab the wrong
ones I usually get the free range eggs
but these ones aren't so hopefully
they'll taste okay I'm sure they'll be
fine this is just a fresh pizza base and
so the dough is already made up for you
then there's also a really yummy pizza
sauce then I got three cartons of lectus
free milk because my husband and my son
Mato have a slight lecto allergy and so
we try to cut down on lactose as much as
we can excuse my voice oh my goodness
got a packet of gluten-free macaroni
then I just got a regular pasta this is
not glutenfree my kids and husband will
have this I got two castons of tomato
puree which I can use for so many things
then I got some sourkraut I love
sauerkraut I will fry this up with
onions and yeah I have it like once a
week then I got some feta cheese which I
love to add to my salads some mayonnaise
I really like this brand then I got this
strawberry flavored quack quack is a
German dairy food with a similar
consistency to Yogurt so we really enjoy
Quark around here then I got some grated
cheese and a fancier type of cheese this
one is so so delicious it's my favorite
I got some cream cheese with some herbs
and spices this is really yummy on bread
I got three cans of chickpeas I like to
make my own hummus so I will be making
some of that this afternoon actually
then I got some cranberries as well as
some cashew nuts and some chopped up
almonds and so I'm going to use all of
this in my musle that I make myself I
got a three pack of kidney beans then I
got some sausage this is quite hard to
explain but it's so so yummy it's kind
of like a I don't know is it smoked it's
kind of like you don't have to cook it I
got two packets of bacon I'm going to
use some of this in my pumpkin soup just
to give it a little bit more flavor then
I got some salami I don't eat much
salami but my kids really enjoy it I
think that's about all for what I've got
on the table here then over here in the
kitchen I've got some extra virgin olive
oil I've got some maple syrup and some
coconut oil few little unhealthy snacks
over here my kids really enjoy these
cookies they're kind of like a
shortbread type cookie um and then I got
these um um just like butter cookies
with chocolate oh my goodness this cake
if you haven't tried it you are missing
out it is absolutely to die for you can
actually buy this cake at Ikea but I saw
it today at little and I had to grab it
and it's gluten-free too it's like this
caramel alandy cake and oh my goodness
it is absolutely Divine then I got 10
bread sauce that you have to bake
yourself and so I just put them in the
freezer and bring them out whenever my
kids want one also got a bag of fresh
bretzels there were four or five in here
but my kids have already gotten into the
packet here I got some Pringles these
are pea style Pringles classic German
flavor some waffles this is like the
unhealthy section here I've got a packet
of Pull-Up nappies Luca just wears them
at night time he's almost out of them
then I got some washing liquid just like
for clothes I got some bags for my beer
rubbish and then I got some shampoo
Amelia wanted me to get this one
apparently it's really good so we'll
give it a try and just some pretty basic
body lotion I also got some apple juice
and a sixpack of sparkling mineral water
and some up for shley so this looks like
a lot of plastic and it is but these
bottles are recycled so I don't feel so
bad about buying so much plastic when
you can recycle the bottles so guys that
was my shop for the week I went to lle
as I mentioned and all of this came to
€175 and I also have to pick up a few
things during the week like fresh bread
I think I'll have to pick up some of
that and I'm going to get some
gluten-free bread from eica and also I
need some gluten-free flour for baking
so I'll get all of that from eica so
anyway guys I hope you enjoyed this
shopping haul I'd love to hear your
feedback in my comment section
