Xi Jinping's New Year Message Ridiculed
Chinese leader Xi Jinping issued a New Year's message on the last night of 2024.
The official propaganda was widely publicized,
but the message was questioned and ridiculed by the outside world.
In fact, mainland people are now scolding Xi Jinping and hope that the CCP will fall.
Xi Jinping claimed in his message on December 31 that China's economy has shown a warming
and positive trend in 2024. He also listed some figures.
For example, grain production exceeded 1.4 trillion jin, and the annual production
of new energy vehicles exceeded 10 million for the first time.
Xi said that the current economic operation faces some new situations,
challenges such as uncertainty in the external environment,
but emphasized that these difficulties can be overcome through hard work.
The CCP's economic data is often accused of being falsified,
and the overproduction and dumping of new energy vehicles have evolved into
international controversial issues. The Wall Street Journal reported that Xi's
release of this message is in stark contrast to the international investment community's
skepticism about Beijing's ability to resolve debt backlogs and declining consumption before
a new round of trade wars may break out. With Trump about to return to the White House,
she is trying to boost confidence that Beijing can achieve economic transformation and resist
external pressure. Trump advocated a 60% tariff on Chinese imports during his campaign.
In November, he also said that in order to solve the problem of drugs flowing into the United
States, an additional 10% tariff would be imposed on almost all imports from China.
Many observers believe that Trump's policies in all aspects will pose a huge impact on China when
he comes to power again. Xi also talked about the improvement of people's livelihood in his
New Year's message, saying that everyone's life is colorful. Hong Jingfu, a professor of political
science at National Chen Kung University in Taiwan, told VOA that Xi Jinping spent a considerable
amount of space to list the improvement of people's lives and the grand construction of
various national heavy equipment to create a positive Chinese-style modernization,
but this is probably a gap with the actual life experience of Chinese people this year.
He believes that the reality is that many Chinese people feel that their lives are more difficult,
with salary cuts, unemployment, constant closure of physical stores, or social violence and
I am afraid that he lives in a parallel political and economic time and space.
Current affairs commentator Zhong Yuan wrote that compared with a year ago,
the New Year's message of the Chinese leader in 2025 seemed weak,
and the various hardships suffered by the Chinese people continued to be not mentioned.
What is more strange is Xi Jinping mentioned in his message that he visited the Six-Foot Alley
ancient site in Anhui province in 2024, saying that the courtesy and family tradition of the
Six-Foot Alley has been passed down from generation to generation. This was constantly interpreted by
the outside world as he was preparing to step down. Now it seems to be a special hint.
When talking about the sensitive Taiwan issue, Xi emphasized that no one can stop the historical
trend of unification. He also mentioned that compatriots are one family, and no one can
sever our blood ties, etc. The two sides of the Taiwan Strait share the same language and ethnicity,
but have been separately governed since 1949, and are not subordinate to each other.
China has been using both verbal and military threats,
threatening to achieve cross-strait reunification even if it resorts to force.
But Taiwan's leaders insist that the country is a sovereign and independent country called the
Republic of China, and that Taiwan's future can only be decided by Taiwan's 23 million people.
After the official media published Xi's New Year's message, a large number of messages
praising Xi's achievements appeared on Weibo strictly controlled by Beijing.
But the message triggered ridicule from Chinese netizens on the overseas X platform.
What External Uncertainty Challenges, The Biggest Uncertainty Is You
The grand narrative is cold-blooded and ruthless, and this short essay is empty and tasteless.
It would be better to just say why not eat meat porridge.
Why not eat meat porridge is a term used during the reign of Emperor Hui of Jin.
When Emperor Hui was told that his people were starving because there was no rice,
he said, why don't they eat meat porridge? Later generations often use why not eat meat
porridge to describe the lack of understanding of things, and also refers to people who have
not experienced it personally and make arbitrary comments or suggestions on other people's
predicaments. Xi Jinping also said in his congratulatory message that he has always
been concerned about people's employment and income increase, the elderly and children,
education and medical care. Netizens said, many ordinary people may be concerned about Xi Jinping,
the fall of the CCP and other issues. Lu Ming, pseudonym, who has worked in a local
government's financial department for many years. He presented a lot of facts and data
about the collapse of local government's finances, and said that most of the civil
servants in the system are not optimistic about the future of China's economy,
and now people in the system are scolding him and hope he will step down.
