How's it going everybody? I'm Nikki Delventhal and this is my dog Camper Delventhal.
We live in a 2006 Toyota Prius and we're here to take you along on the wild ride.
So fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun.
Don't forget if you like what you see, like, subscribe, comment,
share with your friends, and turn on notifications. Camper and I would be so thankful.
On last week's episode, Camper and I wake up after an evening at our free waterfront property
on the west coast of Florida. From here we head to one of my favorite springs.
Here we have an absolute blast swimming in the clean fresh water and hiking around the park
and we leave off our adventures heading north.
So I was planning a pretty epic video in Wilmington, North Carolina
filled with beach fun,
the happiest dog on the planet,
wildlife,
great food, gonna get ice cream mister, spots to visit. Camper we're just going for a walk
checking out the streets and all was going great until so uh about last night.
My pants.
Well when you feel better you wash them.
I came down with some pretty terrible food poisoning. This is the worst day in my life.
And I've got the battle wounds to prove it. In case you were wondering my advice on how to
handle this situation. What do you do when you live in a car and you get food poisoning for
first time in your life? So let's just fast forward that week to the morning of my appointment
at the orthopedic surgeon in Charlotte. Don't worry we'll come back to Wilmington another time.
I'm so nervous. This appointment basically determines everything we're going to be doing
next. In case you missed it four months ago I got in a pretty bad accident learning how to ski
and long story short it's been a very frustrating recovery and journey.
It's not getting better. It's been like four months so I'm so frustrated with doctors.
I'm gonna go to another one on Tuesday. What I'm about to learn is that unfortunately my MRI was
misread multiple times leading to a misdiagnosis and treatment. So now we're back at square one.
Okay so this is very frustrating. Our little adventure is going to be stalled a little bit
because we need to stay in the area because we may have a procedure tomorrow.
Oh my good boy you heard me didn't you? Oh it's cold in here let's turn this off.
I don't know what I'm gonna do. The doctor went over a few options with me.
Doing PRP injections and if that doesn't work getting surgery. I'm gonna think on this.
Someone's gonna call me and let me know about getting a procedure. So in the meantime we're
gonna hang out here and go down by the water. We weren't about to let this news about my knee
spoil our fun so first stop on the way to the beach the dog park. Are you gonna go make friends?
This dog park is huge. This will distract me from my knee. Hi friends. You're looking for mama.
Camper just found the gem of the dog park.
Squirrel heaven. He just figured it out. Oh no. You guys know how much Camper loves squirrels.
Come here good boy. Hey. All right you ready? Right down the road from the dog park is a little
beach so we're gonna go hang out. Hi Camper. What'd you find? We got a grade A hole digger.
Good job Camper. Oh yeah this might be the only thing we can stomach today.
We'll see. You guys there's literally not a single thing in my refrigerator right now.
So we're just gonna try to do more ice cakes.
All right dude. I'm coming down.
We spent the early afternoon relaxing,
testing our odds with food poisoning,
reading, and enjoying each other's company.
Uh-oh we have rain clouds. It is damn pouring Camper.
That happened so fast. Look how wet it got in three seconds.
Okay no hurting our knee. Oh my god it's pouring. Go ahead.
You gotta go slow don't you? Get in there. Oh there's water on my lens.
Okay go back. While we were down there one of the locals told me there's a really cool spot
to go swimming so we're gonna go try to find it. The rain has subsided. It's time to go swim.
I strategically parked over the grass instead of the dirt. So this little boy's paws can't
get all over the car. First a couple more rice cakes because I'm still afraid to eat.
What'd you find?
This is amazing. You needed that. Wow thanks Camp. Keeping everything nice and clean for us huh?
While cleaning up we finally got a call from the doctor. I just got off the phone with the doctor
so tomorrow morning we're gonna try doing a PRP injection and if that doesn't work.
We're not gonna talk about if it doesn't work because we're gonna put it out there that it will.
So we headed to our friend's house in Charlotte where we of course took advantage of their shower.
Gave the kiddos a tour. Yeah. Hung out in the backyard with our besties.
Had dinner together.
Okay that way we can watch Camper.
And when it was time for bed Camper and I took advantage of our friend's projector screen
and had an epic movie night from Hotel Prius
before winding down and getting ourselves and the car ready for bed.
You ready for bed? Wait everybody. Good morning.
It's nice isn't it? We're getting a procedure today. You ready?
We might have to take you to the dog park first. We should probably get a new dog.
Oh god here we go. Gosh do I not know my own car?
I love how everything I own is from somewhere I traveled to. This is on the beach where my
sister used to live in Mexico. This is from Canada when I was freezing my butt off in a
rental van. That's how I used to travel before I lived in my car. I would rent cars to live in.
First stop dog food. Then the dog park. Then the doctors. I'm very nervous. Super anxious. So
here we go.
Hopefully this takes away the pain and it won't mean surgery.
All right let's take a look inside. Okay we got Eric here. All right so we're going to do a PRP
injection into the knee. If you look over the screen we're going to hit that little black spot
below the quadricep tendon and on top of the femur. So we're going to numb up our skin and get
our needle placement exactly where we need it. Oh my gosh. You do all this painful stuff anyway.
Oh my gosh. I love you guys.
So you can repeat that in four weeks if you're getting some benefit and most people if they're
getting that they do a total of three. Thank you. Good luck. Come back if you need anything.
All right. There's a 50-50 chance that this will work so now we just have to wait and see.
Okay and now we need to go somewhere where we can chill for the week because we can't
really bend our leg or do anything for an entire week after this.
We have to go back to Wilmington. Camper we left our bike in Wilmington.
Okay. Well I guess I know where we're going.
