Okay, now some generic guidelines for excelling in interviews.
Because there are a couple of problems with such kind of job portals.
I'm going to tell you a path which is slightly longer,
lengthier, but it's sure to work.
In the last about two to three months,
I have seen at least six people crack jobs using this formula.
What is the secret sauce?
My name is Savindar Puri and I've been in the build, release, DevOps area for over 20 years.
You can check out my LinkedIn profile to know more details.
The comment target for this video is 100 comments.
And the like target for this video is 200 likes.
So strap on your seatbelts.
Let's get started.
Hello girls and boys, how's it going?
So let me paint a picture for you.
A picture that a lot of you will be able to relate with.
Let's say you're looking to change your job.
You have so far filled in hundreds of jobs applications and you've got zero response.
Even if somebody does respond after one or two calls,
the recruiter start ghosting you.
Even if you manage to land up an interview,
the interviewer starts asking you questions on tangents that you're not prepared for,
and the interview doesn't go very well.
Even if the interview goes well,
after that suddenly you get ghosted again and you get zero feedback from the company.
Does this sound familiar?
Have you tried all the popular hacks and still nothing is working?
I have a question for you.
Are you still applying the traditional methods for preparing for a job,
for finding a job and it's not working for you?
How about fundamentally changing the approach to going about all of this
and intrinsically using AI for each step in this process?
Now that will mean changing a lot of things in the way you have looked for a job,
in the way you have applied for the job,
in the way you have prepared for the job.
Fundamentally changing that.
Are you ready for that?
That is what we will talk about in this video.
By the end of this video, you will have a bunch of things.
Number one, a comprehensive AI toolkit, your specific needs.
Number two, a set of prompt templates that you can use.
And I'll also give you a lot of websites for reference,
a lot of ways in which you can tweak these prompts as per your requirements.
And then obviously a roadmap on how to implement this.
Now, if you implement this and if you put in the effort that it takes to implement this,
I can promise you that your chances of getting hired will increase exponentially.
So this guide is for you.
If you're a fresher and you're looking to crack your first internship or your first job,
or you're an experienced person,
and you're looking for the next change of role for the next change of company,
or even if you are targeting some specific companies for some specific roles,
these prompts will help you as well.
All right, so chapter one, let's talk about an AI powered job search.
Now, the classic expectation would be that I would flash a list of AI powered search websites,
and you just click on that website and you apply and then you get a job.
Now, you and me both know it is not as simple as that,
because had it been that simple, you would not be watching this video.
I would not be creating this video,
because there are a couple of problems with such kind of job portals.
One, the postings are not relevant anymore.
They are old post.
Number two, the jobs themselves are not based in India.
They are remote, but they are remote to UK or Europe or US.
Number three, you never ever get any response from these kind of portals.
Or number four, they look promising.
They are remote, but they are behind a paywall.
And you have to pay for these.
And without paying for these, you don't know how good these portals are.
So let's not go down that route.
If not that, then what?
I'm going to tell you a path which is slightly longer,
lengthier, but it's sure to work.
In the last about two to three months,
I have seen at least six people crack jobs using this formula.
What is this?
What is the secret sauce?
It's simple, actually.
Number one, you find companies that have got funded recently.
What does that mean?
That means they have the money.
Now they are willing to invest, to expand their operations, to expand their markets.
And by logical deduction, they are looking to hire more people.
Once you know the companies which have got funded,
then you find out who their COO, their CTOs, their chief architects are.
Once you know those people, then you send them a banger email,
which is very short, very crisp, created through AI,
which they would be very tempted to respond back to.
And that sets your interview.
Sounds simple.
Let me walk you through each step.
And let's use AI tools in each of those steps to see how this goes through.
OK, so the first step is to find a list of companies which have got funded recently.
Now, there are various websites where you can find these kind of things.
You can Google these things as well.
I will share a list of such websites on the screen.
I will put all of this information also in a PDF file so that you can refer to it.
But on the screen, these are some of the good links that I've personally checked,
which talk about companies which got funded recently.
Let's go in and check the first one.
OK, so let's look at the first link from there, Inc 42.
These are the Indian startups that got funded in this week,
Feb 12, 10 to 15.
Bunch of them here.
Let's look at the first one, Tontag.
OK, let's look at LinkedIn, Tontag.
And let's see what posts they have done.
So this is about their latest funding announcement, 78 mil.
Let's look at that post.
Excited to announce Tontag has received 78 in our latest round of funding.
Let's look at the people that they've tagged here.
Must be their key people here.
Kumar Abhishek, founder at Tontag.
Perfect.
We got our guy.
OK, let's look at the next one, Vivek Kumar.
Contextual payment coming soon.
Is he a tech guy or a marketing guy?
Director of innovation product.
Perfect.
This is the guy that we need.
OK, so we've got two people that you can now connect with them,
send them a message to get any contact info.
Nothing here.
Who else did we see?
Sugandha, head marketing and comms.
Not really.
Chief expansion officer.
OK, this could work as well.
Having the right technology.
OK, nice.
We got three people that you can reach out to.
Let's move to the next step.
OK, now that we have these people identified, we need to create a cold email.
So here is chat GPT, right?
And a simple prompt.
Prompt to send a cold email to CT of a company that just got series A funding.
I'm a DevOps engineer with two years experience and want to apply for a job at his company.
It's a very, very simplistic English prompt that I've done.
And here is the output.
Congratulations of this securing series of funded.
I'm exciting.
It's exciting to see your growth.
Blah, blah, blah.
I'm a DevOps engineer with two years experience.
Specialize in this.
I've helped companies.
Da da da da.
As your companies expand, I love to explore.
Da da da da da.
OK, why this works?
Personalize opening, concise introduction, value prop, call to action.
This is one way of doing it.
The most simplest way of doing it.
The other way of doing it is to tweak your prompt and make it more creative, make it better.
That's where this guy comes in.
A.I.P.R.M.
Your cheat code for A.I.
So what you do is you install this for chat.
GPT and Claude.
I clicked here.
I downloaded A.I.P.R.M for chat.
GPT.
And this will help us create awesome prompts.
So let's check this.
So once you do this, then you get this kind of a prompt.
And here I did cold.
See this irresistible cold emails.
And this is what that prompt is.
You're a genius copywriter with year of experience.
You understand pain points in every industry.
Da da da da da da.
And then it also appends my prompt.
Yeah, you see that same prompt.
And let's see the output now.
It'd be drastically different.
Your next DevOps rock star.
Let's talk.
Hi, CTO.
First off, congrats.
I bet you're swimming in product roadmaps, hiring plans and never ending slack backlog.
Now, this is extremely creative.
You can tone it down if you like.
Now, let me make one thing easy for you.
The next DevOps engineer is right here.
Here's why we should talk speed.
I optimize pipelines faster than your inventors refresh their dashboards.
And this is maybe if this is too creative for you, you can tone it down.
OK, now, does this subject email subject line?
And do you like this?
Yes or no.
Now, if you see the prompt here, one once created, you will ask, do you like this?
If they say yes, you're done.
If no, then you create email to and say like this.
Yes.
No.
Then you will create email three.
So this will go on doing that.
I stopped here.
So this was the prompt and this was the output.
I didn't go further, but you could have said no.
And then it would have generated another one.
And that's how you can generate more, you know, things from this.
I give it another example.
The second one, I'm a cloud architect with 10 years experience designing high availability
system for scalable apps.
I'm writing to a C2O who just got series B funding to expand across APAC and would probably
need an experienced person like me in my past assignment.
I've helped ABC migrate to the cloud.
Designing the landing zones across regions is multiple failover mechanism.
Draft an email to the CTO for a 15 minute call.
So let's see how this goes.
I'm a cloud architect.
I helped ABC.
How I can help with your APAC expansion.
Scalable cloud architecture, multi-region resilience, optimized performance, cost efficient
scaling.
This is everything that this guy would need now.
Yeah.
15 minute call.
Okay.
Similar thing.
Yes.
No.
Let's say I say no here.
What happens then?
Then it'll need regenerated.
Yeah.
It's done some changes to it.
Let's say no again.
Let's see what happens.
Ah, see rock solid cloud foundation.
Now it's gone.
Okay.
Optimized performance and latency.
It's covered failover strategies.
It's covered.
So it's changing it a little by little.
And when you say yes, then here's the final email.
All right.
So some warnings before you go on this approach, number one, you should have the right experience
for the role.
Now you can use any, uh, Chad, GPT, cloud, Anthropic, Gemini.
You can use any of these and they can cook up fantastic experiences for you.
But if you have not done the work, then creating all of these stories will not work out because
the interviewer hopefully is smart enough and will catch.
So don't get overboard by what these AI tools are telling you.
Tailor it to based on what your experience has been and keep it real.
Number two, you should have the proof of work that you have done.
What does that mean?
When they get into the nitty gritty details, when they start talking about,
show me the Terraform scripts, the TF files, obviously it's proprietary, so you can't show
them, but you'll have to talk about what functions you used, how you handle different issues in the
scenarios.
You should be ready for all of that information as well.
When they get into the depth of Helm charts and how you have done auto discovery, auto
recovery, you should be able to answer those questions because you have done it.
Okay, cool.
So now you've managed to get an interview slot.
Now it's time for the preparation.
So let's use our friend chat GPT again.
So go here, go to explore GPTs and let's look for interview.
You see here, master interview, interview preparation, job interview answers.
I selected this one master interview and I started a chart with it.
I already have it set up.
I'm going to show you what I did.
So this is master interview.
Let's start practice.
Okay.
I've put together 500 companies, blah, blah, blah.
Okay.
Now upload or paste a resume content, right?
So I just took some random resume that I had.
I pasted it here.
This could be your resume and then provide a job description or role you're interviewing
you for.
So I pasted a job description here.
So it summarized everything DevOps engineer, AWS solution architect, seven years experienced
da, da, da, da.
Okay.
Then how many questions would you like to answer in this mock interview?
I recommend three to five for a comprehensive session.
I said five.
I'll be conducting a behavioral interview based on five competencies.
And after each answer, I'll provide a detailed feedback.
So good day.
I'm Roxy.
I'll be conducting an interview today.
Savinder nine years experience currently working as this.
Okay.
Tell me about a time you implemented or improved a CICD pipeline.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Now it's time to answer.
So let's say I implemented CICD pipeline for, okay.
So this is the answer now, right?
I work for a large scale enterprises, but I was in the process of transitioning to micro
services.
The goal is to create a reusable scalable CICD pipeline challenges, slow and inefficient
pipeline.
Jenkins pipeline was bloated, inconsistent environments, security and compliance issues,
no vulnerability, scanning, lack of observability.
However, here come these challenges.
Tim is the pipeline for speed refactored Jenkins pipeline, standardized environment used Terraform
and cloud formation.
So I've added all of this stuff, right?
Let's see what it says now.
Feedback on your answers.
Strengths well-structured technical depth.
Okay.
Areas of improvement.
Yeah.
I didn't talk about collaboration with others.
Okay.
Mention how you worked with developers.
Okay.
Final outcome.
What was the end result?
Any metrics captured?
Yeah.
I didn't talk about that as well.
Lessons learned.
Okay.
Good.
So revised answer.
Okay.
So situation action.
So he's beautifully restructured by this.
Okay.
Perfect.
So that's how you can practice.
Now some other things to consider.
Some of these tools cost money.
For example, I have chat GPT plus, which gives you the ability to search and add other GPTs.
I don't think it's there in the free version even now.
I've been using the chat GPT plus for a while.
This cost about 20 USD a month.
That's about 1700 rupees.
So like this, you might end up buying one or two more tools.
It is okay to invest in yourselves.
It is okay to invest in these tools.
All put together.
I'm sure you'll not spend more than 10,000 rupees over the next two to three months to
get all of these tools together, to get them working for you, to apply for a bunch of interviews
and to get the results.
Look at the ROI of spending 10, 15,000 over the next three months.
What if you get a raise of 40%, 60%, 100% hike?
All of this would get covered in just one month.
So have that investment mentality on yourself.
Obviously don't go overboard, but invest some money in these kinds of tools.
They'll help you quite a lot.
And then the most important thing, have the confidence and the patience to send out 50,
100, 200, 300 of these emails.
Now, if you craft them well, you'll probably not even need to send 50 to 60 well-designed,
well-thought out emails, but it'll take time.
It'll take patience.
It'll take effort.
It's better to send out fewer, but very well-crafted emails than just to click that easy apply
button on LinkedIn, which is not so easy at all, which is only easy to apply.
Doesn't give you anything back.
Okay.
Now some generic guidelines for excelling in interviews.
First and the most important is have three to four stories ready from your resume.
What do I mean by stories?
These means your experiences in your current organization.
If you've stayed here for long enough, what should these have?
They should have a problem statement.
They should have a technical solution.
They should have the challenges in the technical solution and how you solve those challenges.
They should have the benefits delivered.
So this, all these answers to these five, six questions is what I call a story.
Have three, four of these stories ready with you.
And when they ask you a scenario-based question, you say, hey, you know what, in my one of my
previous projects, this is the kind of problem I had.
Number two, make sure you understand the question before you jump to give an answer,
especially if you know the answer.
Then you get all too excited and then start rambling around.
And before you know, it's a five minute ramble and you've lost the interviewer in the first
minute.
So as a general rule, pause every couple of sentences and say one of these things.
Does that make sense?
Did I answer your question?
Let me pause here and seek your feedback.
You know, one of these, but obviously don't overdo it and don't start asking this question
every couple of minutes.
Right.
You understand what, where I'm going with this.
Use your brain.
Then make sure you understand the question before you jump to answer it.
If you have a doubt, it is perfectly okay to say, can you repeat that question?
Or you can also say, let me try and reframe the question in my own words and make sure
I understand that question.
It's perfectly okay to say that.
Okay.
Now let's look at the roadmap of how do you execute all of this in a sequence?
So step one, which is research and set up.
So what do you do in this phase?
You set up all the accounts on the websites that I've shown you, you create your list
of AI prompts, and then you generate a list of your target companies, which have just
got funded.
Do you do these kinds of research and fundamentals first?
Also, you optimize your profile using some AI tools.
I haven't spoken about that in this resume.
Let me know if you want me to create a dedicated video on optimizing your profile using AI
tools.
Step two is outreach.
Now that you have a bunch of companies, you have to find the CTOs, the CIOs of these organizations.
I've shown you very quickly how to do that.
You can use these.
So outreach is finding out those email IDs, crafting out those specifically targeted emails
and sending 10, 15 of these emails every single day.
Step number three is once you have these emails going out, you should have some interviews
light up.
And then you start the interview preparation like I showed you.
Take your resume, feed it in, take the job description, feed it in.
Let ChatGPT or Claude or any one of these specific GPTs ask you those questions, practice
it.
And then the next step is the most important one, follow up and refinement.
Analyze which approaches work best for you.
Analyze how you are answering a particular question, what kind of response you're giving,
what is the suggestion being made and do this practice long enough until you get an almost
perfect answer.
Now a caveat here, this is all theoretical preparation.
Life on the field, on the ground, the response depends on the experience of the interviewer,
what is your first impression, how have you introduced yourself, how much time does the
interviewer have, the mood of the interviewer at that time, many other factors on which
you have very little control on.
The only control you have on is your own preparation before going in, do that.
Hope this video made sense.
Let me know in the comments any other AI tools that you use in this entire process, which
could be helpful for others as well.
I have dedicated videos on how to learn in public, how to create a good one-page resume,
how to create your own LinkedIn profile, which is optimized.
You can check them out as well.
I'll see you in the next one.
Cheers.
