V8 MASSEY FERGUSON 1155 Tractor Plowing

Hi Big Tractor Power fans, this video comes to you from a field located in Northeastern North Carolina where a 140 PTO horsepower Massey Ferguson 1155 tractor is working with a John Deere 3100 618 moldboard plow on spring tillage ahead of peanut planting. In this presentation, I would like to share with you the tractor's production history, specifications, and original price tag. But first, let's head out to the field so that you can see and hear this V8 powered tillage team hard at work. The Massey Ferguson 1155 was manufactured in Detroit, Michigan from model year 1973 through 1978. During this time period, it was the company's largest two-wheel drive tractor. It is powered by an 8.9 liter, 540 cubic inch Perkins AV8 540 liquid cooled V8 engine. It's rated at 140 PTO horsepower and fitted with a 55 gallon diesel fuel tank. This tractor could be ordered with two different transmissions. It came standard from the factory with a multi-power two-speed power shift transmission with 12 forward and four reverse speeds, allowing the tractor to travel from 2.2 up to 16.7 miles per hour. The other transmission is a gear drive with eight forward and two reverse speeds, which allow the machine to travel from 2.3 up to 16.7 miles per hour. Customers that chose the eight speed gear drive could deduct $745 from the tractor's price tag. It weighed in at 11,750 pounds when it rolled off the assembly line without a cab. And when it was equipped with a cab, it weighed in at 13,150 pounds. And the tractor can be fully field weighted up to 20,400 pounds. When the Massey Ferguson 1155 was new, it came at a base list price of $24,731. When a customer ordered it with a cab, it would cost an additional $2,657 and air conditioning added an extra cost of $1,047. I hope that you've enjoyed spending some time out in the field with this Massey Ferguson 1155 tractor and moldboard plowing. I would like to hear in the comment section below this video if you use Massey Ferguson tractors on your farm, tell me about the model that you're running and the implements that it operates.
