Welcome to Grand Teton National Park. The Tetons are famous for their dramatic scenery, wildlife,
and recreational activities. We're going to show you how we spent our time here and what to expect
when visiting the National Park. The trail keeps on going. So we just passed the Bridger Teton
National Forest entrance sign over there and we're about to start descending into the basin
right in front of the Tetons, which we can't even, we can't even really see them yet,
but there's still a bunch of snow all around. Like if you look over here, there's still a
bunch of snow everywhere and the elevation we're at right now is 9,400 feet and it got
cold real fast. That's why it's all bundled up. What can I say? I'm warmer now though.
Just these last few, last few miles to go. We're at Oxbow Bend, one of the most famous viewpoints
here in Grand Teton National Park, where you have this beautiful bend in the river. You can see
the beautiful plains over there and if you follow me over here, you got a beautiful view of the
mountains. Well, it keeps receding because there's a storm coming in right now and we got to get to
our campsite and get everything set up or else we're screwed. There's a lightning storm going
on over there and it's super beautiful. Good morning everyone. After a rough night last night,
we got here. We didn't even film anything because it started raining, it was dark,
and we had to figure out how to set up camp while it was, you know, night time and everything was
wet. We stayed in the back of the car for a little while. We were just chilling in there,
you know, eating some chips, waiting for the rain to pass, but there was a huge,
no it wasn't a huge storm, but there was like a bunch of lightning strikes coming in when we're
getting to Colter Bay. But yeah, this is our campsite. We're at campsite 181 and we had a
little tarp set up over here. I just pulled it back so it can dry, so our tent can dry a little
bit because we actually didn't open the vents enough, so there's a lot of condensation on the
inside when we woke up because it was pretty cold last night. But this is a mountaineering tent, so
it's water resistant, you know, but not completely waterproof, so we tossed the tarp on on top as
well. But yeah, I'll show you guys the camping situation a little bit later, but around here,
here's our beautiful table, the one that we almost flipped multiple times when we were trying to eat.
And yeah, here in Grand Teton National Park, this is where you lock up your food. This is
the bear store and we're going to see if there's going to be any bears on the trails today, but
that's all I hope. I hope so. So yeah, you just open it like this and you just store
anything related to food, anything that can have a scent,
and you just store it in here because the bears, the bears are crazy.
And yeah, that's pretty much all for our campsite and we're about to go do the Coulter Bay,
kind of like, we're doing the Coulter Bay Lakeshore Trail and this is a 2.5 mile trail
that's estimated an hour, hour and like five minutes, and it's just around kind of like the
Coulter Bay Lake and just like around these like two little islands by the by the Coulter Bay
campsite. And yeah, we're going to take you along with that and that's pretty much it. We'll see you
guys when we get to the trail. This is one of the amazing viewpoints here on the Coulter Bay
Lakeshore Trail and we just stopped here to take some pictures and videos for you guys.
And you can see there's an incredible view of the Tetons and we're going to continue our hike
because over there, there's a little, there's like, it goes onto another kind of like peninsula
and the view over there should be even better. There's not going to be any bailers on this trail.
Get a move on. We actually got to start getting a move on now. Yeah, we actually have to start
getting a move on now because it's an hour trail and we're not even halfway done and we're almost
at an hour filming. We're halfway done around the trail and we get this another amazing viewpoint
here of the Grand Tetons. As you guys can hear, it's getting a little bit more windy,
the waves are crashing hard, but the water actually, it's uh, it's not too bad. It's not
too cold. I'd swim in it for like a couple seconds, but man, I already got, I got my foot wet.
We are now on the final stretch of this mini hike and we're gonna get back to camp. We're
gonna cook up some of our chicken that we have. It's chicken and rice. And how tired we are
because not gonna lie, first day with the elevation change, this small hike is already
kind of kicking our ass. It just, even with like less than 100 feet of elevation gain, so that's
crazy. So we made it back to camp after our little hike of the day and we decided to go all out for
lunch today because we've been eating pretty much, we've been eating this like uh, it's pretty much
like ramen, but it's, you know, Vietnamese pho for the past two nights. And uh, yeah, so we have
some chicken that we brought from home, some sweet potatoes and some rice. So we're going to be
cooking that up on the Coleman right here. Chicken is getting crispy. So we started preparing for our
big hike tomorrow. It's not too big, but we plan on doing the Cascade Canyon Trail up to Lake
Solitude. But I know we're not going to be able to go all the way to Lake Solitude because people
have been saying there's still a lot of snow up there and we do not have the correct gear for it.
So we're mainly just going to be doing that. But what we're going to, what we're going to be
bringing, I'm going to bring my Jetboil for our food because we're going to, we're going to take
it slow. We're going to go early in the morning, but the mosquitoes have really like, the activity
has really kicked up recently while we started packing. So I just got a rain jacket, wind jacket,
I got shorts, GoPro stick, uh, camera bag for my camera, got the bear spray attached over here.
But yeah, I don't know if you guys can tell, but the mosquitoes are actually going crazy.
Natalia is dying behind the camera. Yeah, that's pretty much it for our preparation for tomorrow.
All we got to do is just eat, get some good rest and we're going to be waking up around six,
seven o'clock, hopefully. But yeah, we will catch you guys when we're going to start making our food.
Yeah. So, um, I tried to, uh, I tried to wash my hands, but there's a pebble in my shoe. So I
tried flicking the pebble out of my shoe and then my shoe just came right into the water.
So now I guess, now I got, I guess I get to test Jackson Lake water. It's pretty cold, but it's not too bad.
Tonight we're making pasta and chicken with a nice view. This is the finished product. You hungry?
I'm waiting to start eating with you. First bite, first bite. What are we thinking?
Well, if it gets all over your face, that means it's good. It's amazing.
Good morning, everybody. Today we had a rough wake up. We tried waking up at 6 30,
but we ended up getting out of the tent at like 6 50, 6 45. We kept hitting snooze on the alarm,
but so today we're driving over to Jenny Lake. We're going to take the boat across,
hopefully, or we might just take the mile walk or whatever it is, but we're going to be
hitting up the hidden waterfall inspiration point. And then we're going to go up the cascade trail
and then we're going to take a right at the North fork of the cascade trail. And we're going to try
and see if we can get to Lake Solitude today, but we do not have a lot of snow gear. All we really
have is like some micro spikes. So we're going to see how far that gets us. But if we can get
all the way up to Lake Solitude, that'd be sick. But if not, we're going to have to cut our losses
and come back. But today we just have the whole day pretty much just to spend on a cascade trail,
try and see some wildlife, try and see some beautiful views. And yeah, we'll take you guys
along. Are you ready for today? No, I'm tired. I want to go on the boat, but not on the hike.
and that is to the Hidden Falls. But yeah, the water is so blue. That boat shuttle
saves so much time compared to if you were to walk around the lake.
And it was incredibly beautiful as well, even though we didn't get too good of a seat. But
yeah, we'll see how it goes. It is getting really hot. I was prepared for something,
for a lot more cold. I don't know if I'm wearing all black either. That's so boss of you.
We're almost to Hidden Falls. So we made it to Hidden Falls, as you guys can see
right behind us. And it's quite an amazing view. It's a lot colder over here. You feel the mist
from the water, and it's really refreshing. I'm about to put my jacket back on. All right,
now it's time to go to Inspiration Point. It's 9 23 a.m. We're on here on a little bit of the
later side, I guess. But there's still plenty of people, and I think we just made it to Inspiration
Point. So we're halfway at Inspiration Point. I thought this was it. No. But at least it's a lot
this. Now it's time for a little snack break. What are we having today? A cutie, or a clementine,
or a tangerine. One of those. I don't know the difference. Taking a break up here at
Inspiration Point, and then we're going to continue up the Cascade Trail. We did it.
Good job. Do one peel. All right, so we're still coming up the Cascade Trail.
We're following along the Cascade River, and the views are absolutely amazing.
What'd you find? A snow bus. We better run. Oh, don't throw it at me. Hey,
Walt, we've encountered our first snow crossing. Yeah, I'm hoping this is the only one. Oh,
little does she know. A little slushy, not too slippery.
Not too bad. We have reached another river crossing, and this one might be the most
challenging one yet. Really? Um, I guess so. Hey, don't fall in, but if you do, it'll be great
content. Gentlemen, this mastic's really paid off. Did they not? Yeah. So we're either lucky
or unlucky. We have not seen any animals yet, other than some animal poop. I don't know what
it was from, though. It was big, though. A pika. That was not a pika. Wait, no, I like the pika.
We saw a pika. Yeah, but we saw a pika, but that was not pika poop. Oh, that was unholy.
Alrighty, well, we're almost at the fork where the trail splits off,
and we're going to take a right to go up to Lake Saltu.
Rest stop number two. Got to another blockage in the road here. He just got tired. He wanted
to lay down. Yeah, he wanted to lay down. But he's just never going to get back up. Oh, I see.
Well, you first. Ladies first. Thank you. You got it, boss. That's what the hiking poles are for.
How are we feeling? You got it.
Patching up with a little bit of Leuco tape. I'm starting to feel blister coming on on the
back of my heels, so got to prevent the blister before it starts.
So we decided to take a little break with the view. We're actually going to call our lunch a
that's that's what counts. I got the Jetboil out. We're going to have some
teriyaki chicken and rice. Never had one of these before, so we're going to try it out,
and we can give you a little food review, I guess. But yeah, this is like the freeze-dried
food that you have kind of like on the mountains, and then you just put in some boiling water, and
it's all good to go. So that one's mine. This one is Natalia's. Same thing. Chicken teriyaki.
Solid. All right, I'll keep you guys updated as we're making this.
These are the marmots that just sit and judge you. One, two. Oh, where'd the third go? He said,
That's so sick. Oh lord, he's coming.
Scream. I don't know, I really want him to scream. I want him to scream too.
So we're just packing up from lunch, and we're about to keep going up because we have two more
miles, and I can't wait to get down. Taking a little viewpoint stop, and we're putting on our
snow spikes for a little bit of extra grip. I mean, I've never used these before, but we're
going to give them a shot because we are slipping a little bit, but more than likely, they're going
to help us coming down more than coming up. Micro spikes are on, and we're ready to go.
Passing the snow field.
So far, we only got a little bit longer to the top.
This is something I've never done before, and it's completely awesome.
Let's keep on trekking.
Starting to slip and slide a little bit. Having these trekking poles and these mini crampons,
these ice spikes, perfect for this type of weather right now, especially for this end of
I'd say like mid-June type of weather. It's beautiful. Oh wow, yeah, that just happened.
I went to go set up the camera, and I just fell in. Holy shit, that's crazy.
The trail keeps on going. The view here is absolutely amazing.
This is the trail right here. Nice snow mark. We're just following that. After a few long hours,
we finally made it to, but not so late, Lake Solitude because it's still frozen.
All right, well, starting to post hole a little bit. Let's see what it's all about.
We finally made it to Lake Solitude, guys. Wow, what a hike. That view is amazing.
Lake Solitude's starting to thaw out. We have a great place to get some water,
so that's going to be extremely refreshing. You can see the nice blue alpine water over here
because the ice over here, it's all melting. In a week or two here, I think Lake Solitude is going
to be completely melted depending on the weather, but you can see the pass over there to Paintbrush
going up over there in the mountains, but wow, I've never done anything like this, and it was
definitely one of the best hikes I've ever done in my life. All right, I'm going to use this stream
right here from Lake Solitude to get a little bit of water using our Sawyer Squeeze filtration system,
and we're going to pop some hydration powder in there, everything to get us going. We're going
take a little snack break right now since we reached the summit, well, summit of our hike,
and yeah, we're going to start preparing to come back down again. We got pretty much race against
the time, and the ferry leaves at 7, and it is currently 3.47, so around 4 we're going to start
heading out from here, and we're going to have to get down pretty quick. Some pure filtered alkaline
water right here. That's cold. That's one way to do it for sure. Well, time to start heading back
down. Now it's a race against time pretty much until we hopefully we get back for the boat ferry.
Look, it's the iceberg. It's really just slush. Yeah, we saw some people walking on here.
I'm not trying that, but they, I mean, they did, but I don't feel like falling in water all the way
up here. Our elevation is currently 8,866 feet, just shy of 9,000 feet, and now we're going to
start our descent all the way down to Jenny Lake. We're on our descent down the Cascade Trail
after seeing Lake Solitude, and we really got to catch the boat. We've got two hours to get there,
so let's see if we make it. I don't think so. Taking a quick stop, but we're making quick work
of the descent, and hopefully we make it there on time to catch the shuttle, because if we don't,
that's gonna suck. Another two and a half miles. Yeah, another two and a half walk just to get back to the car.
All right, let's get a move on. We caught the last boat.
After a long hike, we're both tired. We're gonna go to sleep. I look like a raccoon.
We're at Bubba's BBQ. We wanted some brisket. I don't know, we were talking on the mountain,
some like smoked brisket or like some like barbecue pulled pork sandwich, which would go
so good right now. So that's what we, that's what we sought out, and that's what we're here for,
so hopefully Bubba's BBQ does not disappoint. You got the pulled pork? I got the pulled pork.
Garlic. And I have the brisket and pulled pork mixed together. So we're gonna see how this goes.
I'm gonna say right now this is gonna be messy. First bite.
Good morning, guys. What did we do yesterday? So Bubba's. Bubba's was good, but I was so full after
it, I slept like a rock and I couldn't move. I almost, it was like, portions were good, everything
was solid. It was a good dinner after such a long hike. Thank you all so much for watching. I hope
you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for the next video, where we set out on another adventure, and we
have our first bear encounter.
