University of Delaware professor teaching students to enjoy insects as food

while most of us try to avoid bugs in our food there's a local professor who's embracing them Even more than that he's teaching a class on it Today our cameras got an inside look at what is on the menu at the Insects as Food at the University of Delaware Beware some of the ingredients might make your stomach turn just a little bit Oh yeah The action cam inside the Warloo Hall test kitchen where Sego Worm Chili oh God is being prepared today The hands-on course covers the benefits of incorporating bugs into the food system which professor Michael Crossley says can help meet global food demand Okay Other items on the menu this semester include spicy giant water bug pasta salad and black ant lemon scones Black ants produce formic acid which has a zesty flavor to it So it's almost like putting in lemon rind Okay Professor Crossley says the students typically enjoy these unique creations I prefer a chocolate chip but what do I know yeah I like my scones without bones
