Is it abuse when educators hide student info from parents?

so we are hoping that all of you had a beautiful Easter or Passover or both if your family does uh celebrate both I got to tell you many of you know me already I come on here live on Facebook and I think also YouTube to say hello to all of the parents and Educators who are fighting like hell can I say that yes I will we are fighting like hell to uh maintain reasonable truths in our children's before I jump into the big question uh if you're watching this you can probably see that the title reads um a big question that I'm asking today and that is Is it child abuse when Educators withhold information about students from their own parents so we're going to be discussing it and breaking it down about what's happening in a few local Southern California School Districts today that are you know very very alarming but before I jump into that which I will in just a moment um first of all I want to thank you for being here and I also want to send love out to all of the families who may have traveled and seen a bit of our beautiful beautiful country this uh Easter break or if you took a vacation for your Passover break I with my family went for the very first time to see the Grand Canyon and I had never been there before and it was breathtaking and magnificent and vast and anyone who's been to the Grand Canyon weigh in because let me tell you I my mind was blown as a 40-something mother of two my mind was blown and and I was standing there looking out with my kids and you know at the vastness and it was just a reminder how really very um how very very small But Mighty we all are and anytime I have a moment of being small But Mighty like that in my life anytime I feel that I I gotta tell you I came back to work and I feel that much more invigorated to fight for the beauty of this country I'm not only talking about the exterior Beauty such as things like the Grand Canyon but I'm talking about fighting for the interior fundamental values of Truth American exceptionalism working hard forging New Paths based based on individuality and and what we as Americans can can accomplish together you know my family learned although history about the railroads in the Grand Canyon and all that good stuff all of the history that we try and equip our parents and families with here at prageru kids to really instill a deep and profound appreciation for for who we are as Americans and and and what we've accomplished in our country but I came back to work after my family's Grand Canyon trip recently just that much more fueled to really stay informed and active not only as a parent but as a citizen very proud citizen of our United States of America so um with that I do want to jump into the question now and giving a shout tell me where you're from if you're from Arizona in the Grand Canyon area thank you thank you thank you for your um beautiful hospitality and experience that my family was very blessed to to participate in the last week um but um but I do want to jump into the question now the controversial question that we are here to discuss today on Facebook and YouTube live Is it child abuse when Educators withhold information about a student a minor by the way you know kindergarten through 12th grade they're all still minors Is it child abuse when when schools withhold information about students from parents and I you know we have this growing trend of safe spaces for schools we have this growing trend of safe spaces for schools I'm going to keep trying to talk here is Cam is notifying me that I have some technical difficulties the growing trend of safe spaces in schools is a little alarming to me because what it's doing is dividing parents and children and you know as a mother I can speak to this personally with some of the uh previous experiences that my own kids had in our former public school before I was able to pull them out um but I want to share with you the latest incarnations of what creating these safe spaces really does mean in schools in real time in practice and we have Educators hiding student information from parents and one of our longtime friends of prageru kids A Woman by the name of Brenda lebsack who is in Orange County California she's a former educator she's a former School Board member she recently sent me a document that they are using in the Santa Ana K-12 School District in Southern California behind parents backs to to change children's gender based on a student's proclaimed identity at school this document that she sent sent me which I'm about to share with you right now for those of you watching can be used for any age child and it's essentially a document that that that grants the child to determine whether or not said child's parents can be informed that they have changed their gender identity at school we don't know if this document is being used across the state of California or not but I'm going to share it with you right now let's get into it cam we got the full screen of the identity support plan idsp by sent to me by Brenda lebsack and by the way those of you listening you can find Brenda at interfaithforkids.com i-n-t-e-r-f-a-i-t-h the number four kids.com Brenda lebsack interfaithforkids.com she's a wealth of information and really she's been exposing what the underbelly of what has been happening in California schools for I want to say decades so thank you Brenda for this let's get into this right now if you're looking at the screen this is from the Santa Ana Unified School District the purpose of this document is to create a shared understanding of the student's authentic gender and develop a plan to support the student's identity success and safety at school oh there we go safety safety safe spaces anytime this is a side note from me Jill the mom the parent to you other parents and teachers you know we we love the concept of feeling safe at school everyone deserves dignity at school everyone deserves respect everyone deserves to be safe whether or not you happen to agree with someone on a you know ideological or religious basis everyone deserves safety I think that's something that people from all sides can agree on everyone deserves safe safety but what's happened is this word of safety has now been weaponized to not create actual safe spaces for all of us but to create spaces of division and bullying and let's go to this Santa Anna identity support plan I want to read you a little bit of it the district is committed to making our schools a safe and supportive supportive place for all students regardless of gender sexual orientation gender identity or expression student is the expert of their own risk and safety student may decide who is involved in the idsp process I'm going down the bullet points of this document we are committed to developing a working relationship to support the students safety we are committed to stopping harassment and bullying and immediately seeking appropriate guidance and support for all involved okay I don't disagree with that we are committed for to advocating for a school campus that teaches staff and students how to create a safe and supportive environment for all students including lgbtq students like I said this is not about hate on lgbtq students this is not about hating or bullying students who may associate with the LGB movement okay but it's interesting to me as an observation that if this you know if if they are claiming safe spaces for everyone then safe spaces should include the magic word include religious families Also let's go down on this document scroll down now so we have identity Guardian family involvement and we have the participants in meetings student ID number students affirmed name students gender and pronouns preferred timing of the support plan implementation are your Guardians supportive of your transition do you have siblings at the school and if so are they aware of your gender identity so this document essentially that is being um you know uh touted by the Santa Ana Unified School District is for teachers Educators administrators to fill out with a student who might be wanting to change their gender identity in their records at school now here's more questions do you wish to change the student database system to your affirmed name and gender parent permission number two parent permission is not required for this process are you comfortable with us discussing this with your parents so this document is asking the student a minor are you comfortable with us discussing this with your parents let's scroll down on the document please identify supportive friends at school if this transition occurs during the school year we may want to consider notifying teachers or others in your day-to-day School experience are you comfortable with this okay safety and support I'm just letting you read this document let's see um a lot of questions about safety are you comfortable with someone working with your teachers and School staff to help them better support you is there anything that you have worried about or felt unsafe and then they go into locker rooms and restrooms facilities policies extracurricular activities so here we go the bottom of the document a copy of this plan should be kept with the student or family one copy with a student's safe contact at the school if the student family or school wish to revisit the plan they can revisit a meeting with the student's liaison we got the student signature we have the idsp contact support we have a parent a guardian signature here if applicable because remember a few times in this document it was outlined that parent permission is not required to change the students gender identity officially in records at school now kids cannot get tattoos under the age of 18. children cannot buy cigarettes under the age of 18 you can't consume alcohol under the age of 21. you can't you can't vote under the age of 21. We Are now bullied if we express opposition to a student changing their permanent school records without parental consent this is absurd and this is in fact happening at Santa Ana School District this is their identity support plan that does not require children to inform parents I want to take you now cam if there are any comments that you want to read out loud I'm happy to take those because right now I want to take you to an article from edsource saying why California schools shouldn't keep secrets from parents and just go through a little bit are there any quickie comments right now uh people are just saying that they're fuming they're calling it child abuse social Insanity things like that child abuse child abuse now I don't like to speak in heart Hyperbole and I'm very very careful about it and I don't even really like to share uh you know videos or sources with you unless I've confirmed them with multiple um with multiple credible sources and I've confirmed them you know to exist at the source source foundation of the information but but it is child abuse to keep information from parents especially when it's as life-changing and and very very complex as things like you know perceived gender identity let's go now to an article that was also sent to me by Brenda lebsack of interfaithforkids.com this is an article from edsource and I want to just touch on uh the beginning paragraphs of this because we're under here's the thing California is a I'm not gonna I'm not gonna mince words here California is a really crazy place and for those of you watching or listening from across the country I know you're probably saying oh yeah this isn't surprising for California your policies are crazy your laws are crazy which they are California is increasingly becoming more and more radical at the policy level and with our you know directives and laws that specifically speak to education but this article in edsource.org why California schools shouldn't keep secrets from parents let's get into it California has been on a dangerous crusade to erode parental rights by misinterpreting state law teachers are being induced to withhold information from parents about their child a portion of the state's Education Code sometimes referred as ab1266 is being incorrectly used to Bar parents from learning that their child has adopted a new gender identity and this article which is recent published on April 12 2023 this article goes on to describe California law does not sanction schools to keep information hidden from parents Education Code section 51101a10 requires that teachers provide parents with their child's school records Federal Law requires transparency so I want to click on this Education Code section 51101 A10 I'm doing this in real time with you as a parent let's go to A10 I let's see so here's a okay so here's the Ed code 51101 we got section A here let's scroll down to 10 and see what it reads parents have the right to have access to the school records of their child ding ding ding ding ding ding ding how about that in the California Ed code so then why might we all ask does Santa Ana Unified School District have the authority to change a child's perceived gender identity on their school records without informing the parents that is a question that I am sincerely asking as a tax paying California citizen you should be asking it too whether or not you live in California any questions or comments before we go to Glendale Unified School District cam any other comments from people is there anyone from Santa Ana is there anyone um from Arizona the Grand Canyon um any other comments that you can quickly address I think I did see somebody from Santa Ana but it seems like most of the comments are just echoing the same thing agreeing with you saying yes yes child abuse okay um talking about how crazy all of this is and okay so it is crazy now I want to take you so Santa Anna is in very very you know traditional Orange County California now I'm going to take you to and Santa Santa Anna given that it's in that very traditional uh Enclave of Southern California which is typically very reasonable is you know Santa Ana school district is now allegedly um uh putting forth very unreasonable policies with going against seemingly going against California Ed code let's go now to Glendale Unified School District this is a school district that is very near and personal and familiar to me and also very traditional um historically speaking when it comes to having uh you know a very very diverse population um that includes religious Armenian American families um it is very personal to me because I am armenian-american and um and and and I I know a lot of people personally in this District who are school board members who are teachers who are employees and who are friends and family who live in the district so let's go to what's happening in Glendale Unified School District um the assistant superintendent Kelly King has been hiding information from parents allegedly and I'm going to play for you a video oh let me put on my headphones here I'm going to play for you a video that is found on Instagram a public on a public account Glendale gusd underscore parents underscore voices so it's Glendale Unified School District parents voices on Instagram I have the full screen pulled up let's go ahead and play uh Dr Kelly King assistant superintendent of gusd this video is allegedly from 2017 and it's describing how she how she um how she skirts around the legalities to withhold information from religious and conservative parents if she feels that they won't affirm a student's gender identity let's listen to this um well my stance regarding the legalities of a student and affirming their gender identity is we do what's right for the child you know and for that youth so legally we have to have one permanent record for our kids there's nothing in the law that says where that permanent record is kept so for a handful of kids in my district their permanent records in my office it's literally next to me in a file drawer so what we have at the school sites is a permanent record that is affirming of their name of choice their gender identity everything in it is Unified to who the child is and who the child wants us to know them to be um and then there's a letter in it from me saying that I acknowledge that this is an incomplete student record and if there's any questions to please contact me directly so that way we literally go into the computer system and nowhere in the computer system does it have the gender of birth or the name of birth so yeah we've really kind of gone out on a limb and I know that's controversial to some people but it really is a matter of if it comes down to it being an audit item or it's questioned I have no okay so they got the assistant superintendent Dr Kelly King of Glendale Unified School District in this video allegedly from 2017 describing how she uses legal loopholes to hide information from parents in students records where she keeps them with her in her office I do want to ask and again I'm just a parent asking questions in the California Ed code remember section here we go I'm saying I'm bringing it up on the full screen again 51101 section A which discusses parents and guardians of pupils enrolled in public schools have the right and should have the opportunity as mutually supportive and respectful Partners in the education of their children within the public schools to be informed by the school and to participate in the education of their children as follows I'm scrolling down to section 10 here to have access to the school records of their child so you have an assistant superintendent allegedly keeping these records from the parents I can't understand this this is abusive if this is in fact happening this is preying on children and quite frankly families that might be really having complex issues I mean you know there there's no doubt I have my own personal opinions about gender identity issues in children and you know it is very complex and I happen to believe that it is a severe psychological issue and essentially I'll say it a virus of the mind that needs to be dealt with in a very caring and supportive and and and medically sound and reasonable way if a child expression expresses confusion about their gender this is this is very serious and it's tragic but but this hiding of the records in school administrators offices because they they don't feel like the child will feel safe if if their parent is informed this is child abuse okay this is preying on families at the expense of children and it's wrong it is wrong I want to take you now to a parent in the Glendale Unified School District area who went to the school board recently within the last few weeks I think it was Jordan Henry is his name his Twitter Jordan if you're watching this hi his Twitter handle is um you know tongue-in-cheek titled irrational Henry because he's actually a very rational and reasonable person and you know Twitter handles they you know we we sort of like to uh we sort of like to poke fun at ourselves and and um and and be a little uh uh cheeky with all of it so his Twitter handle is irrational Henry but this is rational and reasonable Jordan Henry um speaking at a Glendale Unified School District school board meeting uh in the last few weeks about Dr Kelly King who is implementing these policies of keeping student gender records at her desk and also um you know also uh implementing um and affirming policies where uh females can change in boys locker rooms and so forth and so on and and I'm sharing this video here with you now because I want you to really take note about how of how Mr Henry handled himself at this school board meeting he was there to ask questions let's take a listen it's a bit long but I want you to see it let's take a listen right now can we hear it oopsies can we hear it should be able to now okay sorry thank you for letting me speak here today um I just I'm here to talk as a parent I've got two young boys uh we live in Glendale and when they come of age I am deeply concerned about their educational prospects in this city I'm also a taxpayer I pay a lot of taxes in this city many of which go to this district and I'm deeply concerned about how that money is being spent particularly and I'm going to single out a person at the uh in the school district named Dr Kelly King who's sitting right here to my left Dr Kelly King makes over 250 000 a year every four years we give her a million dollars we'll be paying for her pension for you know the duration of her life after she retires and she's doing things that I completely disagree with and I think many of the many members of the community would also disagree with previous uh speakers have mentioned the number of Armenians who live in Glendale how many Armenians would support what she does let me discuss what she's doing uh in a recent video in 2017 she reflected Glendale Unified policy when she stated and I'm going to quote we have a lot of resistance from male coaches who are horrified at the thought of having a biological girl changing clothes in front of them which biological girls are changing clothes in front of coaches in Glendale Unified that's a question I'm genuinely asking she continued it's not a girl it's not a girl it's not a girl you only have boys in the boy's locker room she just said it was a biological girl no you're not no I'm speaking I'm interrupting my time well we can pause the time can you pause the time for a minute I only want to say that to refrain from personal attacks so she is a government official she's a government employee this is not a personal attack I pay her I pay her salary again please talk towards the policies that you are talking against and refrain from personal attacks and your time will continue please go ahead in what way if I personally attacked Dr King she is acting within her official role as assistant superintendent at Glendale Unified how is that a personal attack I'm talking about tax dollars being used in a way that I disagree with I'm going to continue continue talking about the policy that you disagree with Dr King quoted quoted to say that biological girls were changing in front of male coaches and then so she knows it's a biological girl and then proceeded to say it's not a girl three times you know it's a girl you know it's a girl and if you wouldn't mind telling us what policy you dislike there is why am I being interrupted for speaking about an official member a superintendent at Glendale Unified speaking in an official manner you cannot interrupt me for that you have no ability to do that and furthermore the rule stated you won't debate you're debating me right now correct I'm going to continue in discussing uh uh permanent records she states that she keeps permanent records for a handful of trans students literally next to her in her room she does not indicate that person's gender identity for fear that the parent might find out why is she concealing this from parents she says we kind of go out on a limb and we know that's controversial to some people which people which parents Armenian parents Christian parents are those the ones who are being excluded from knowledge on their own on their own children and their own identity in glendale's Unified School District and you you preach You Preach inclusive policies we can talk about that policy yet she's excluding parents [Music] and I might just ask for a pause and ask for information maybe I'm mistaken may I can you pause the time for a moment Mr sahakyan thanks okay so I laugh because I literally don't know what else to do okay so this is president of the Glendale Unified School Board nairi nahabedian um when she uh asked for a pause for Mr sahakyan that's Sean sahakian another's elected School Board member these people are elected let me rebate that these school board members are elected the school board is designed to be a watchdog and voice of the people and the parents over the school district and I have to again commend and applaud applause applause it sounds so lonesome I'll be be my by myself but you can applaud with me if you're watching or listening um where you're at Mr Jordan Henry for keeping his calm he was against school board meeting directives and policies he was interrupted for not doing anything that went against the order of how to speak at a school-born meeting he kept he kept his calm he further uh asked questions about why are you interrupting me your policy prohibits you from debating me you're debating me this is what we need to take as an example as parents and good teachers out there who want to speak up for what is reasonable and truthful and and and and and virtuous and correct to do in our schools parents and teachers used to be partners and that has disintegrated Beyond I think what any of us moms and dads can can wrap our heads around nowadays parents and teachers used to be partners in communicating what was going on with their children minors at school for the overall well-being health and education of those parents children but now we have educators officials elected officials school board members District administrators we have them creating a divide between parents and their own children and this is so wrong and as parents we need to keep asking questions and it is frustrating because we feel helpless but at prageru kids we are trying to equip you with two major things one of them is education and knowledge for all of us parents to know what our rights are to know what we are capable and the legally able to ask for from school board officials from school districts so that we can continue to be informed properly reasonably about our own children and we have a parent action guide on pragerukids.com that is is a document just to get you started just to get you informed if you're not quite sure where to begin we have this parent action guide on our website that you can scroll through um it's a design it's designed to give all of us guidance for how to request access to curriculum and materials in our kids classrooms how to escalate our concerns how to opt our kids out of certain subjects and classroom activities if they go against our um our religious beliefs or values and as as well as other tips I'm scrolling down now to the part that says what kinds of things can you request under foia laws foia stands for Freedom of Information Act we may request legally any recorded information or communication held by a Public Authority including written or online educational materials academic curriculum professional development curriculum email or text correspondence between employees board members or administrators in office we can request contracts between vendors you know outside Consultants coming in we can also request our children's records again go back to the California Ed code here we go I'm showing it to you again 51101 section a point ten parents have the right to have access to the school records of our children keep asking questions it is tedious it is not easy it takes time I'm a busy mom I know all of our parents are busy but we are required to continue to ask questions just like Mr Henry did at one of the recent Glendale Unified school board meetings because if we don't keep asking questions are are it's it's done for we're not going to have school districts left we're not going to have a community left we're not going to have a country left and the other thing that we're really providing you with at prageru kids is to arm our children with knowledge about how our system of government works what rights we have because so many times times we we forget what our rights really are and we forget that as parents we have the fundamental right outlined in sections of our constitution as it has been interpreted by various court cases you know the past few decades we have the right to direct the uh bringing in education of our children and our children need to understand what these rights are and I'm going to take you really quick this is the fun portion of the program I'm going to take you to the types of things that we offer to share with our children at prageru kids.com for free this is the latest episode of our of a really really fun man on the street show Street smarts for kids that are in the junior high age range and it's essentially a Civics video series to teach kids about and you can see it on the screen here to teach them about federalism the states are judicial branch the what kinds of things our children should be learning the power of the people resides in cities and government here's a bit of this show to get your kids really involved and engaged and educated about what our rights are here we go citizens are encouraged to attend the meetings of their local governments legislative branches these governing bodies are called city or town oops I didn't mean to pause it a parliament B fairs or C councils all right I'm gonna go with C councils I see they see you know what you're talking about yes councils a parliament B fairs or C Council Council [Applause] there we go and it's a really fun game show there we go it's a really fun game show for our kids to really get engaged and learn about what our rights are because our children as we know are going to grow up and hopefully be engaged citizens so that they can be like Jordan Henry who goes to the school board meeting and asks legitimate questions and knows what the policies are and they can you know our children need to grow up to understand when something is when lies are being told to them we need to equip our children to have knowledge so that when lies are being presented to them in school through curriculum or through an educator or counselor that says we don't need to tell your parents about your perceived gender identity we can just keep it a secret between us our kids need to know our values and to be educated about what is right what is wrong what rights we have as Citizens and and what uh what virtuous traits are true so that our kids have the ability to think critically and reason with you know reason within themselves to say this is not right it is not right for um you know for this to be happening in my classroom it is not right for my uh teacher to be saying let's keep a secret from your parents I remember the days when when someone used to say keep a secret from your parents was a harmful thing and now we see unfortunately many of our Educators what I've just shown you today from Santa Ana Unified School District aiming to keep secrets from parents and Glendale Unified School District aiming to keep secrets from parents this is not okay um and and I welcome any comments from Glendale parents or Santa and a parents who might be weighing in on this but keep asking questions to the elected school board members this is where the most impact happens I think in this day and age is at our local school board cam do we have any uh any comments that are fresh and new um we have people asking who gave them a 10-year saying to home school if you can um and encouraging people to watch pretty kids oh thanks for the thanks for the shout out for prageru kids it is free can I say that again it is free and and I gotta tell you truth be told uh I myself am learning so much I realize that I am one of the prageru kids personalities for some of the shows for our youngest Learners um and I do write most of the um most of the shows for our youngest Learners uh for you know for for instilling values and and basic educational historical knowledge um but I myself am learning so very much about what rights we have as American citizens how our government was set up to work I I'm finding out where my own educational background was lacking and and that's what it's about we want to educate families this is family friendly it's wholesome con content it's nourishment for our minds so that we can be equipped to stand up to radical tyranny and that sounds like an exaggeration but when you see school board members like nairi nahaberian at Glendale Unified School District interrupting a parent for speaking for no good reason that's wrong and and we you know we we create prageru kids so that we can all be educated to just reaffirm what our rights are as uh as Citizens and taxpayers um please subscribe I do want to speak once more to The Homeschool comment yes we appreciate all of our homeschoolers to the person who left The Homeschool comment about um the value of homeschooling an amazing incredible way to educate children is through home school and we love our homeschoolers at prageru kids we also though recognize that homeschooling may not be an option for every and all families and I know that there's a lot of debate about that and you guys can hash that out in the comments but are what we what we offer at prageryoukids.com really is created for the parent who has their child in a public or private school that has been compromised tragically with a disregard with disregarding values or um reason or truth we create our shows for the families who want to provide their children with nourishment against the radicalized curriculum or messages that may they may be getting at compromised public and private schools if you feed your on top they're going to retain the nutrients so that they know the junk food the woke ideologies when it's delivered to them even if it's by a school administrator or a um or a teacher so with that schools of the school board administrators to that so that we can keep our children educated and to hold our Educators accountable for what they are forcing on our children against our values without
