Christmasers, welcome back to the channel for Christmasing.
I'm Gina Loves Christmas.
This is Christmaser University, the Ribboning Edition.
This is the fourth installment.
We just did three videos for you on my simple loops,
a single, a double, and a triple.
They are all there for you.
Now I'm going to show you how to put them on the tree.
Here's what you need to remember.
You are your own hype person.
When you step up next to this tree with the ribbon,
you better be cheering for yourself.
We already know my body-ody-ody Christmasing song.
This is like, get it girl, get it girl.
Nobody's cheering for me when I step up to a tree.
I'm going to be cheering for you
and you are going to be cheering for yourself.
Let's get started.
Also, I'm using cut ribbon.
What do I do with all my cut ribbon?
I reuse it.
Every single piece of it gets reused.
It doesn't matter.
Let's start at the top.
We're going to go in with a double.
No, let's just do a triple.
Let's do a triple.
Can you hear it?
Get it girl, get it girl.
You are your own hype person.
If you believe in yourself, you can do anything.
Anything.
I'm not a professor.
Look at me here, professing.
This is going to be my first connector.
The connector is the ball that gets connected to the tree.
We're going to wrap like this with one piece of wire.
Grabbing the branch.
Look, I'm the boss of the branch.
Taking my wire, wrapping it around one time.
Where's the ribbon going to go?
Nowhere.
And that is my first piece.
She's in there.
She's singing.
She feels good about it.
She loved her song.
Yep, that's it right there.
And get my hands in there and reshape it once it goes in.
If it doesn't look perfect right when you start,
that's okay.
Remember, it's not supposed to.
It's supposed to have personality.
This is an important part.
I'm going to reactivate my ribbon.
If you've ever seen any of my shorts, reels,
anything like that, you always see me going like this.
I don't do that because it's cute.
I do it because it reactivates the ribbon.
The ribbon lives on a roll.
When we do this, we're reactivating that beautiful,
just form that the ribbon already knows.
The ribbon is very smart.
Pinch, pleat, pucker, pop.
Even though we are not making a bow right now,
we're going to guide this tail where it wants to be.
I'm going to get my pinch, pleat, pucker, pop
just like this.
What?
Look how gorgeous that is.
Just like that.
Top of the tree does not have bendy branches
on the inside near the heart.
Only the bottom does.
So I'm going to pretend this is a fresh Christmas tree.
Wiring this up just like that.
And now reintroducing my oddy.
Oddy, oddy, oddy.
And this goes right into the heart of the tree.
And that's how we get our beginning loops.
Now, if the top of your tree has the bendy branch
in the top, you don't have to do that part.
You can always feel and see.
This is only for problem solving as we go.
Here's the deal.
It's cut ribbon.
That's a short piece.
It's okay.
I was going to cut it, but that felt wasteful
because I know I don't have a ton of this.
So I won't.
Right back in, creating my first set of loops.
This is a fun game to work with the cut ribbon.
We're going to go in with the double.
Candy cane shape, pinch, pleat, pucker, pop.
Pull it out, hard half twist, singing.
Up, hard half twist, double.
I love this ribbon.
You're going to see another video with this ribbon.
We, like, should we use this ribbon?
But I did it at my house this year and you have to see it.
You're going to see it multiple times
because she's so pretty.
All right, where are we going with this?
I'm going to come right over here.
Now it's a full tree.
This tree has got a lot of depth to it.
I can't take it all the way inside.
I am going to pull my loops closer in when I go in.
But right here, I'm going to the first set
right before my bendy branches.
So I'm going in eight inches
and I'm attaching my first loop.
Wrapping around one time because where are we going to go?
And that's it.
Getting all her pop back, reintroducing my body.
Adi, adi, adi, adi.
And that's it, it's as simple as that.
She's so pretty, she's so pretty.
Do I ever cut my ribbons?
What do you call it?
Like dovetail, fishtail, I don't.
I like everything cut at an angle.
I just like it that way.
If you like your ribbons cut the other way, do that.
This is the way I cut my ribbon.
This is the way you're asking if I do it.
So if you like it to be finished like that,
then do it that way.
But if you like it my way, you cut it at an angle.
Doesn't matter.
Oh, the ribbon is pretty.
All right, let's go in with another double.
Doubles are really the most used size, in my opinion.
It gives you a lot of real estate on the Christmas tree.
It takes the medium amount of ribbon,
but also, I mean, she's cute.
So I'm right up here.
When you ribbon your Christmas tree,
you have to put ribbon on the back of the tree.
Even if you don't decorate the back,
you have to ribbon the back of the top
because you're gonna be able to see it from the front
and the diameter, perimeter area.
I'm like, why is this cut?
Bow making video.
We're using it though.
Let's go.
Oh, that explains why they're cut in perfect double lengths
because that was a double length bow making video.
With ribboning, there's no right or wrong.
I could just ribbon.
If I wanted to just add a little bit here and say,
I'm done, that would be fine.
You're just trying to create something
that looks very organic,
that just gives the tree all of this body and movement
that you could not get without ribbon.
Not all trees have ribbon.
I do a lot of trees without ribbon.
Sometimes I only use a little tiny bit of ribbon.
There is no one size fits all answer.
One twist and let's get her back.
Okay, so we're lower in the tree now.
When I go back down after my loop is reintroduced
and I've gotten my pitch pleat and my pucker,
I'm coming down and I'm taking the bendy branch.
The bendy branch is gonna be on the inside
and I'm taking it and I am just wrapping it around.
And this is holding the ribbon so snug.
That's some weight that I'm pushing.
And I left the loop big enough
for my whole arm to get through.
The whole point when you're ribboning is that you don't,
somebody said in a comment once,
ribboning is like choking your Christmas tree.
And I got the analogy and I actually really liked it.
I'm sure I screenshot it
because I was like, I'm keeping that forever.
But ribboning can be like that.
If you don't give your ribbon that slack,
you want that body.
If you pull it down, let me show you what that looks like.
So what is all this slack I'm talking about?
Sitting pretty right off the front of the branch.
Now, if I were to go in and I'm like,
I don't wanna waste my ribbon.
You see this, you see it often.
Nothing really special is happening here.
Let's look together.
Do we see the difference?
That ribbon doesn't have any body in it.
That ribbon hasn't been giving any freedom.
That ribbon is choking the tree.
So we're not going to choke the Christmas tree.
We're gonna give the Christmas tree some personal space.
This is the bows dance space.
This is the trees dance space.
We're just going to, we're frolicking.
We're frolicking with the Christmas tree.
It's a good time.
And in doing that and giving it back
all the oddy and the loops,
instantly we have something that doesn't feel
like we're hurting the tree's feelings.
Don't hurt Christmas tree's feelings.
That's a bad idea.
Going in next with our second ribbon.
So we have our four inch.
The four inch was the base ribbon.
And now I'm going to layer with the two and a half inch.
This is satin.
Satin is a beautiful ribbon to make bows with.
It is wired.
And let's go.
Okay, so we have a triple on the top.
Let's go in with a double on the top.
The bows, my three simple loops,
they're all made to be layered.
So I mentioned this in the original videos,
you wouldn't do a whole tree of like triples.
You just wouldn't.
I mean, maybe you would, I don't know.
No, technically there are no rules,
but they are meant to be layered.
They're meant to get different levels of texture
and dimension within the tree.
Not all meant to be the same.
I'm going to go in right in the top.
And if I had my branch nearest to the one I was in
and I'm connecting.
So this would be, I'm adding another connector
because I'm going into the original connecting ribbon.
And I'm marrying these ribbons right together.
And I'm going to bounce the green this direction.
Bounce because I added the bounce back into my ribbon.
What kind of wire am I using?
I don't know.
I don't even like the wire that's here at the moment.
I'm using pre-cut.
What I have is in my Amazon storefront.
You do not have to buy it there,
but you can look at it
and see all the different kinds of wire I use.
I also have an entire video just on wire.
The kind of wire I use, what I use it for.
And you can give that a peek
if you want to see the different kinds
that are in my toolkit.
Whatever's been around for the last two months
is not my favorite though.
It is a personal preference wire.
What you like in your hands.
What I like in my hands is going to be different
because I put on most likely more ornaments.
So my hands are a little more fragile.
Working my loops down,
letting this ribbon kind of do what it wants to do.
I'm going to cut it right here.
This one had its own plan.
That's fine.
I'm here for it.
I do believe your ribbon is always going to guide you.
The ribbon does know what it wants to do.
It was created to do this.
And so were you.
You can ribbon your Christmas tree.
I believe in you.
If you need hype,
if you need a hype girl,
I'm your hype girl.
You can DM me on Instagram anytime.
And I do answer every single message.
And you will get a voice memo back.
Get it girl, get it girl.
Or get boy or whatever.
I'll sing the same song.
It doesn't really matter.
That's my current,
that's the current hype song.
We had a Christmaser in Texas message me.
She's very, very pregnant.
And she was getting ready to ribbon her Christmas tree
cause it makes her happy.
And that's the song I sang to her.
So it's like top,
it's top of mind right now.
Okay.
Next I'm going in.
I'm going to bring this one down lower.
So this was the connector ribbon.
Cause it's the ribbon that connected
into the tree originally.
These are the joints.
Anytime I have a ribbon coming down,
I'm creating joints and I can add a new connector
into the joint and make a whole new connector ribbon.
Layering.
We're layering.
Just like we would layer our hair or our clothing.
We are layering the ribbon.
Okay.
So I've gone in and I'm connecting this
to the branch right behind the one
that was wrapping around this loop
so that I get as tight as possible into that loop.
And that's how you really make everything snug.
And you want your ribbons to be super cozy together
except for when they're coming down the tree.
And then you want them to have their own dance space.
It makes all the difference in the world.
It really does.
I'm going to bring some of this over here.
Let's do, it's a ribboning video.
So let's do a triple.
I'm going up top, but I'm not going into a connector ribbon.
I'm creating an entirely new connector next to it.
I'm completing the top bow.
Wrapping around.
So pretty.
Getting my body back.
I'm going to go far enough down on this one
so I can use the internal branch.
Not because I'm lazy,
just because it's what I wanted to do.
And it was available to me.
Christmas Air messaged me this morning
and sent me a picture of her tree.
And I think she's been watching the ribboning videos.
And it very much had a two and a half inch ribbon
worked all the way down the tree.
And it was giving shoelace effects.
And I know she knew that.
The tree is real gappy.
And I am giving her a few suggestions
on how to change that.
So if you're looking at something
and what you don't like is the uniformity,
stop doing it uniform.
Don't pay that much attention to it.
Just do it.
That's a slogan for a very popular company.
Just do it.
Don't think about it.
Thinking ruins the entire creative process.
Also, you don't even have to look at your hands
when you're making your bows.
It's not necessary because it is a seam.
And it looks good.
Okay, we're going into the connector piece right here,
connecting the two.
Right real tight to where the original one was put in.
One twist around, it's done.
And it's tight in there.
She's going to pop right off.
And give me all that body.
This is kind of a little fun piece right here,
just chilling.
I'm going to leave her just like that.
Because there are no rules.
Okay, at least it's like, that's a lot of ribbon.
It's a ribboning video.
So we're going hard on it.
Why not?
Bringing some more in right on the side.
I'm going to come over here, get my loop back.
I really wish I had more plot down there.
I'm going to do another green down there
because that's what I have.
How much ribbon do you need?
You need what you have.
That's how much you need.
You can make good with whatever you have.
If you have, I just did my tree at my house this year.
I know when you hate,
when I go off on a little bit of a tangent.
But I'm about to go off on a tangent.
If you couldn't feel it, I'm going.
The ribbon I used at my house.
This is, this ribbon, Kyle walked in the room
and what did you say?
That's my favorite ribbon.
He said that.
I didn't even know it was his favorite ribbon.
And I didn't know it only had five yards on the roll.
But this ribbon, let's just, hold on a minute.
Tangent.
She only got a single loop.
Because I only had five yards.
And she was so spectacular on that tree.
Like unbelievable.
Five yards, that's all I had.
Seven and a half a tree.
She's stunning.
Thank you for, thank you for staying.
Hold on.
I'm gonna bring a little green down here
because we've committed to the ribboning video.
It's a ribbon tree and I need it.
The joy this ribbon brings me.
This ribbon makes its own bows.
Not really, but kind of it does.
It's so beautiful.
It's so reflective.
And if you don't see this recipe like baking,
I mean, I might not cook in the kitchen,
but I might give it a shot.
I might be really good at it.
I'll be making my own recipes though.
I'm gonna do a little singles here
and I'm gonna just introduce the scold.
I'm going right here.
If you didn't know, why wouldn't I?
That's a lot of ribbon at the top.
I would never normally do that.
But it feels like the right thing to do in this moment.
So I'm doing it.
She's so pretty.
Did good things just happen?
Did everybody hear it?
Ah!
Was it good?
I mean, I'm just singing for myself
because if you didn't know it, I am my own high person.
Get it girl, let's go.
So I'm doing my own angel voices now.
I'm fully into it.
I'm gonna leave my loops a little big
so I get the extra body.
Of course, I need to attach that
because that tree doesn't have bendy wire in the top.
Bringing it right in to the same,
leaving this slack.
I don't want my ribbons to touch.
If you want a layered ribbon,
buy a ribbon that looks layered
like the one I just showed you.
Otherwise, let them breathe.
Give them their own dance space.
Feels like a party is happening right now.
And it is a party.
The greatest one of them all.
It's kind of how this started.
I always thought I was his party planner.
Like I'm planning the biggest party of them all.
But truly, I very much am.
And so are you.
This is a party decor.
It's for him.
So you can also,
if you don't want me singing that song to you,
you can also just picture God right up there
and Jesus going,
that's my girl.
That's my guy.
We're getting it done.
Look at that party decor.
Celebrating me.
Don't forget what it's really about.
When you don't forget what it's about,
it never feels like pressure.
It always feels good.
I made a double for no intentional reason
because I'm just moving right along.
And I'm going to put this right over here
underneath the sloop.
Going into a joint this time,
not the original connector.
The sparkle that's happening in this ribbon
makes me so happy.
I have a Christmas tree,
a giant one.
And my favorite thing about it,
it's, I don't know, it's gigantic,
but you can see it from like three blocks away
because of all the glitter on the tree.
Usually exterior Christmas trees
are like supposed to be really beautiful at nighttime.
Oh no.
Mine is so much prettier during the day
because of the excessive amount of tinsel
and glitter I put on the tree.
She's a showstopper.
I mean, she's fine at night.
No, you got to see her during the day
to really, to really get the full glam.
Connecting back in.
Kind of a little companion trailing down the tree here.
Weaving this out, getting all that sparkle.
Guiding my ribbon where I want it.
Let's see.
Step back, take a peek.
Total party.
I'm going to come down here.
I'm going to make,
let's make a triple because we haven't done that yet.
Small loops.
I'm going to come down here
and I'm really just going to keep that party going.
I hate to cover up the plaid, but I got to do it.
Kind of at a little angle,
playing with the plaid's little natural pattern there.
Feels good.
Why do I like this plaid so much?
I like everything.
I really do.
Yes, you saw I just put the black ribbon in my bedroom,
but I love this ribbon so much.
I think because it hits every box for me.
It has traditional, but it's still a little different.
Red's my favorite color.
It doesn't have any black in it,
but I can add black ornaments after the video's over.
I know not everybody's into it, but I am.
Do what you love.
Bring the gold down here.
I did a double that time.
That's what my hands made.
Am I going to make something for St. Patrick's Day
with this ribbon?
Yes, I am.
Gosh, the green and the gold is so beautiful together.
Somebody was the inspiration for this.
We haven't talked about him yet
because we don't want him to get a big head.
In the connector, I have the green double.
I just layered another in gold.
Truly is a ripping video
because we rip in a lot of Christmas trees,
but they're not filled with ribbon.
This one's really filling up.
Why would she leave a gaping hole
in front of her Christmas tree?
For my statement item, of course.
Next, I'm going to decorate this tree.
This was a ribboning video.
I hope you got what you needed from it.
Get it, get it, get it, girl.
Thank you for Christmasing with me today.
