Sonic vs Tails in an Epic RC showdown

I wish I could play Sonic RC. Hey Parker, did you want to come downstairs and play some Sonic RC? Uh, yes. Well, what are you doing? Let's go downstairs, unbox it and give it a play. So let's take the Team Sonic Racing set downstairs and a very big thank you to Carrera for sending this for myself and my son Parker to test and review. So here it is the Team Sonic Racing tabletop RC set. You've got two wireless 2.4 gig controllers. You've got your two cars, which we'll take a close look at in a tick. But what do you get inside? Well, let's have a quick look. And as you can see here during the unboxing, we've got some goodies. First up, we've got Sonic 143 in scale RC and Tails, who is also 143 in scale. Included are 15 of these plastic borders. This helps create your track and also 30 of the smaller borders, which these simply click together like this. And of course, we can't go without having some Sonic borders and signage around the track. So here he is, Sonic in 143 scale for the RC world. We've got Sonic as our figure driving the car. I think he looks pretty well detailed. Love the livery on this one. We've got the white, blue and with the red tires. It does stand out as a Sonic race car. Underneath, you can change your steering left and right. Your power and your charge is underneath the car. And next up, we have Tails in 143 scale as an RC car. This one has got lots of detail. I'm loving the yellow and the gray works on it. We've got Tails with his hair flipping at the front. I think it looks pretty cool. And underneath, again, we can adjust the steering left and right. Your power and your charge port. And let's have a quick look at the controllers. Iconic Carrera colors here. Black and red with your power button in the center. You also have your USB charge lead and the Carrera included batteries to get you started. So let's get some batteries in. And we need to pair our car to the controller. Simply turn it on. Wait for the flashing light. Grab your controller and then hold your center button for about two seconds. And you'll see you're ready to go. And we better quickly check Sonic to make sure Sonic is ready to race. And I think we can now build our track and go racing. So we have chosen our lounge room floor to set up our track. And I've got the help of Parker, my son. And he was so excited to build this track. So this could fit pretty much anywhere. We've tested different layouts on a kitchen table. But we thought we'll build the biggest track we can for you to demonstrate how much fun this is. And whilst we're building the track, I will take this time to ask. We've got this big circle going on with this little bit of an S in the center. We're going to jump over here. So that's our start line. We've also got tails. But Parker has got Sonic. And he's going to show us how we're going to turn it on. So can you show us how to turn this on? So flick the lever to... To the on position. To the on. You can see an O and an N. Yep. If you see an O and an N, that means on. And what happens on the other side? We've got a red flashing light, have we? Yep. Yep. So we've got a red flashing light. And then you hold this. Uh-huh. And can you give us a quick test to see if it's working? All right. He is ready to go. So I'm going to set the camera up. I'm going to turn on tails. And we're going to do three laps times two. Two different races and see who's the winner. Let's go. So we are ready to race. Parker is Sonic. I am tails. We've got three laps to do. This is the first race. We're going to see who can win both of them. Ready. Three, two, one, go. Oh, Sonic is already off to a fast start. What am I doing? Turn around the corner, over the jump. If you can go around the jump, you can go around the jump. These are quite quick for little RC cars. Oh, he's going to catch me. I'm in the corner. Here he comes. Oh, almost a double jump. We're about to finish the second lap. Oh, we've come together into the last lap. Here we go. Can I bring it home? Parker's trying to get around it. Oh, watch out, Sonic. Yes, and I am the winner. You can do your last lap. If you can get around, see if you can get around. Keep going. Let's see if he can make it. No, I think he's had enough. So ready. We're going to do round two. All right. So round one was done. We had tails for the winner. Up to round two. We decided to do three rounds of three laps each. So round two, are you ready? Three, two, one, go. Oh, he's, oh, he's, oh, hold on. Tick, what's happened here? Oh, he went a bit too. Oh, hello. Oh, where are you going? Oh, he's going for the corner. Parker's in the lead with Sonic. Watch out, Sonic. Oh, he's into the second lap. He's got one more lap to do. What am I doing? Come on. Can I bring it home? Oh, come on, come on. I'm stuck. Parker's going to bring it home. Oh, he's rolling it over the finish line. Let's take a look at that in super slow motion. Oh, well done. That was a run to you. So it's one for Sonic, one for tails. Let's go to the decider. Round three. All right. So we're on the final round. Round three. It's one for tails. It's one for Sonic. Are you ready for the final? Okay. Let's do the countdown. Three, two, one, go. Oh, Sonic is off. Oh, he's actually really slow down, young Sonic. Oh, no, he might have made a mistake. He's skipping the jump completely. I'm going to try and catch him. We're into the final lap. I just missed him. Can Sonic bring it home? Oh, I'm up on the rails. Here he goes. Whoa, he's taking me out. Get out of the way, Sonic. Get out. No, no. Why? Why did I lose? Sonic is the winner. So there we have it. Sonic has won two out of three races driven by Parker. Tails, what are you doing? But you have to choose. Which one was your favorite? Sonic. Blue Sonic. He's really, really fast. And what did you think about the track? Very cool design. Really cool design. What about the cars? The cars are very cool. Look at these rims and stuff. Oh, he loves them. And the good thing about the track is we can change it up. And you can also drive on the outside if you want, can't you? Yeah, you don't even have to drive in the inside. You can drive any side you want. You are right. It's a little RC car. But would you have to say a very big thank you to someone special? Thank you, Carrera. And guess what?
