Uninvited Guest on our Property...
This morning we spotted something moving down by the creek, but we couldn't tell what it was. So we got closer when we probably should have run far away. Would you have gone to investigate?
Oh my gosh, I just heard them screaming for help.
Oh, I see it.
Yeah, it's over there.
What is that?
Danielle is going in.
What is that?
This is the sound of the hold music while I wait because our refrigerator is being delivered to the wrong address.
Oh my god.
It's being sent to our old address.
To our old house.
When is it supposed to be delivered?
I don't know, it's still in transit to the delivery company.
What did they say? Have you talked to them?
Yeah, I'm calling now.
He said he'd let me send an email to the shipping people.
An email?
That's...
We need a phone call, people!
At least a text message, come on!
Something faster.
Anyway, so that's cool because I don't know how we'll ever get it if that's the case.
Alright you guys, here's what we're working with today.
This looks worse now that you've raked it.
It was all covered in hay but there's clearly no grass really growing.
I mean, there's a little bit.
This is where he seeded but it's not coming up good enough.
Well, I guess there's some.
My whole face is a different color.
Today I have sunburn lines everywhere.
You can't see that.
Yeah, it's a whole situation.
Anyway, we're out here bright and early.
Before the sun comes up, gonna try to get this stuff laid on this side.
Then move over to the other side where it's about the same amount as the whole backyard plus this.
So, good luck to us is all I have to say.
Because every muscle in my body feels like jello.
Hey.
What's the matter?
Hey.
We just saw something moving down there.
What?
There's a critter.
Shh.
I don't want to tell Tyler.
Come on.
Might not make it back up the hill.
What do you see?
This is important.
This is more important than that sign.
Why?
What is it?
We saw our first something.
Our first something?
We went home and my mom said, is that a snake down there?
Oh my gosh.
What?
How did she see that?
I said, where?
She said, down by the creek.
I'm like, no, you wouldn't see a snake.
She said, it's moving across.
It's moving across.
And then I saw it.
Something crawling that way.
Across the way.
Oh, we need a map.
Yeah, it's growing up.
Oh, yeah.
It's going that way.
Oh, I see it.
Do you see it?
Yeah, it's over there.
What is it?
Come on.
Oh my gosh.
What is that?
It's a skunk, Danielle.
Is it really?
Oh my gosh.
Is it really a skunk?
Yes.
Let's get one.
I don't want to get sprayed.
I don't want to get sprayed either, but I also kind of do.
But I also kind of want it to be you.
Just for a first time.
Chase is about to get sprayed.
Chase, where are you going?
Oh my gosh.
What do you mean?
Probably.
Pepe Le Pew.
Shh.
Be quiet.
I'm going behind the skunk.
Yeah, a flower.
It is a flower.
Where's Chase?
He will definitely go after that and get sprayed.
Where'd he go?
Where'd Chase go?
Oh, there he is.
Stay.
Okay.
Is this a bad idea?
What's it looking for?
We definitely have to get chicken protection.
Chase, you cannot.
You cannot go investigate that.
He's trying to go.
He wants to so bad.
Look at him.
No, you will regret it.
Do not go.
Don't even look.
All right, you're going to have to pick him up.
Take away the temptation.
Danielle is going in.
And she might get sprayed.
Oh, it's a baby.
It's a baby?
How do you know?
Oh, it's a baby.
Oh, John is just a baby.
Y'all, look at this little teeny baby skunk.
Hi, buddy.
Hi.
Oh my gosh, he can barely walk.
Oh, John, I bet that was his mom that got killed up there.
Hi.
Hi, baby.
Don't spray me.
It's okay.
Oh, look, he's falling over.
Oh my gosh, John, we have to call someone to come help him.
He already sprayed.
It doesn't even stink that much.
Oh, little baby skunk.
It's a baby skunk.
It is?
Yeah.
Okay, guys, round two.
Back at it.
Let's go.
For six weeks after you have a baby and your legs get weaker, I, don't mind me, just doing
all the heavy lifting around here while John does, holds the camera again.
And I said, carrying one of those is like having a baby, or not having a baby, but carrying
a baby.
Because it's 40 pounds, about, so what you're saying is, I've carried about a few hundred
babies.
Oh my gosh, I just heard them screaming for help.
What is it?
It's a skunk.
I just heard the dogs trying to get it.
So I said, just pick it up.
It's a baby.
It literally doesn't even have its white stripes yet.
And then I just heard, Jude's going to grab it, because Tyler's holding the dog back.
Oh my gosh.
And then Jude goes, it's spraying.
Oh my gosh.
Damn, why did you just let that thing run down there?
Life lessons.
Sometimes you just leave things alone.
But I also think we should get it to a wildlife rehabber.
I'm pretty sure its mom got hit by a car, and that it's orphaned.
And that's sad, so.
If we tend to every orphaned animal out here, we will not get anything done.
Do you know who you married?
I know who I married.
Okay, then we tend them to the orphaned animals.
I have this for you.
Look how pretty that is.
It's really bright yellow.
We don't have time to look at the clouds.
I know, this is weird.
The sky's getting dark.
The clouds are about to roll in.
This is not an Indy lion.
What is this?
I don't know.
What is this?
Does anybody know?
Look, this is a dandelion.
This is not.
Okay, my hands are shaking.
I see.
That's how hard we worked.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
What is it?
It's really pretty.
Did you get it?
It's starting to rain right now.
We got this part done.
It's not all the way done, but we're still going to save that sod and finish up around
here a little bit.
Maybe go up to the gravel driveway just a little bit too with it.
While we want to get the other side started, it's going to rain here.
We have actually another hour.
It looks like the forecast has pushed it back just a little bit to noon, so we have until
noon and then it's going to thunderstorm for like the whole day, rest of the day.
So we're going to at least get some more on the other side where there's no grass and
it's just super muddy whenever it rains.
So we're going to go start over there, leave this for now, come back to it when we're done.
What are we taking, Troy?
Hey, buddy boy.
They're drinking all my water.
Oh my goodness.
Hey, that's mommy's.
I need that for today.
Mommy's already sweating all my water.
Hey, look, he can't get any.
I'm sweating all my water out.
I always have to fight them for the Revitalize.
It's pink because I have my water.
This is my Modera Revitalize supplement.
It's full of minerals, so it helps like rehydrate.
It's really good for energy.
I swear it's the only reason I am like able to do this after having seven kids.
But it tastes like Kool-Aid, so the kids are obsessed with it.
It's good for them, so I don't mind.
Thank you so much.
Look at this.
This girl brought my water.
She brought me a new Band-Aid.
All right.
Thanks, Addy.
You're welcome.
Thank you.
That's perfect.
Do you take this one for me?
It is pretty.
Yes.
You know in the movies where like the people move to the town and they're new, and they're
doing this hard laborious work, and they can't get it done.
It's about to get crazy.
A crazy storm's coming or something, and then their neighbors show up, and they're like,
hey, neighbor, you need help.
And then like 50 other people come, and they all get it done in like 10 minutes.
Well, that didn't happen here.
So use a pitchfork.
Like pretend you're mucking out a horse stable.
Yeah.
This is how you do it.
I'm tired.
Oh, all of a sudden you're tired?
No, literally.
Will you check me?
I can't take those.
Here, there's a bracelet on the ground.
Will you check me for ticks?
They run into the bush looking for them.
Yes, later.
We're trying to trick each other.
That's right at the bottom.
That's good.
Push hard.
Shovel it like you're shoveling.
Like you're trying to stab it.
Like you're trying to kill it.
Watch out.
Get back, Alina.
Why would you be trying to kill it?
There.
There you go.
Just a little bit at a time.
It's a little bit at a time.
We need all this over there and that big pile by the tree over there.
Boom.
Push up, Will.
You could have gotten you a nice tank top tan like me.
Where's the shovel?
And yeah, baby, it goes all the way down.
Yeah, accurate.
Little rain didn't kill nobody.
But a lot.
No, little rain never hurt anybody.
Little rain never hurt nobody.
But a lot can kill you.
Oh.
But a lot can kill you.
Good one.
We still got like six pallets to go.
We're just going to keep on trucking until it gets any crazier than this.
It's actually pretty perfect.
We need this rain for the sod.
Yup.
Especially since that sprinkler isn't getting everywhere.
Right.
Whoa.
All right.
Here's what we got done today.
All that down there.
And then that side over there.
That's the only sod we have left.
So we're going to do that first thing in the morning.
It's about a pallet and a half of sod.
Guys, check out this sky.
Look how beautiful it is.
Pink.
It is pink and blue.
And purple.
It just rained a bunch.
It's so amazing.
We get this hike every day, and I'm so grateful.
Check out my super sweet tan.
It's not a tan.
It's real.
What do you think about my super sweet tan?
It's not.
It's getting worse in this camera.
But we're going to bed.
It's been an exhausting day.
We stopped at like 8.
A little after 8.
But we're almost done.
And we're excited about that.
So this is taking longer than we thought.
But that's okay.
We are enjoying the process.
Getting to work with our hands.
Getting to sweat.
Getting to work in the rain.
When it's pouring down, we're just trying to finish.
It's very fulfilling.
And it's been nice.
So just hopefully the beginning of many projects that are fulfilling as well.
So we love you guys.
We'll see you later.
We hope you all have a good evening.
And we'll talk to you soon.
Bye.
