Good morning guys, welcome back to another daily juice.
Today is an exciting day for two reasons.
Number one, it's my favorite time of the week,
we get to do the food shop.
And number two, we've had some results back for something
and I'm gonna go into that in a second.
But firstly, just to cover the food shop,
we wanted to do a vlog today
because we've had several questions asking for like,
the cost of a grocery shop here in England
and how much our kind of weekly food shop costs.
So we thought it'd be fun to take you along with us today.
You know we used to do some videos in Manila
about our grocery shop
and that kind of whole experience
and how much it costs,
the cost of living compared to being in the UK.
But now we're back here,
we thought it'd be good to do like the comparison
the other way around.
And we're gonna do a food shop,
take you along with us, show you some prices.
Our kitchen's nearly done,
so we can start using it again as a proper kitchen
and buying some amazing food.
So we're very excited for that.
And the second reason, like I said,
we've got some results back.
So we've been working with a company recently
called Circle DNA who have sponsored today's video.
We need to do some time traveling quickly
because three weeks ago, we took a DNA test.
So we need to flip back to then,
an actual DNA test, like how crazy is that?
I'm so excited because the results have come in today
and we're gonna find out loads of information
about us that we didn't know.
And it's just a really, really cool thing.
So we're super excited for that.
So we're gonna flip back in time,
see you guys in a second for us,
but in like, I don't know,
a minute or something for you guys,
we'll flip back to when we took the test.
And then today when we're filming this
is when we've got the results back from the test.
So see you in a minute.
We have been waiting for these to arrive.
So a company recently got in touch with Lucy and I
and said, are you guys up for doing a DNA test
to find out more about yourselves?
And we were like, yes.
Designed for those who seek the best
in their diet, lifestyle, and optimal wellness.
If you guys have been watching our vlogs,
you know Lucy and I are all about that.
We're always looking how to get healthier,
how to keep fit, how to optimize our health.
Once you send your DNA off, you get all this stuff back.
There's 15 reports on diet, 20 reports on nutrition,
sports and fitness, sleep and stress,
wellbeing, pollution, skin, success traits from your DNA.
Lucy and I have never done anything like this before.
So the test we went for is called Vital,
but they do have another premium option
where they deliver over 500 reports.
Maybe one of the reports will tell me
that I'm bad at opening boxes.
Comment below if you've ever done this.
I'll be fascinated to know if anyone's done a similar thing
or if you would be interested in doing this.
To register your kit, collect your sample.
Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for 30 minutes
before collecting your saliva sample.
Okay, wow.
So it's as easy as that.
They give you one of these and it's just a saliva sample.
I've just got to register the kit here
with a QR code on my phone.
So I'll just quickly do that now.
Okay, then I've got a swab test.
We're very familiar with these these days,
but luckily this one isn't going in my nose.
It's just going inside my mouth, which is good.
So bear with me while I do that.
How amazing that that's all they need.
By the way, how crazy is that?
DNA stuff blows my mind.
That's all they need.
They can actually process our results
and they'll actually come back to us via the app,
which is so handy.
So after this, we're gonna go to the post box,
send this off for testing.
Two samples in here.
We'll see them.
Actually, we won't see them again.
This is the last time we'll see them.
Everything we get in the future is gonna be through the app.
So we're just folding this up here.
They send us this.
They send you this?
So it's prepaid postage.
You don't have to pay for postage.
You just send it off.
Put this through a post box and you are done.
So fast forward them three weeks.
We're back to normal time.
And we can now share with you some results from this test.
So CircleDNA is the world's most comprehensive DNA test.
And there's so many different categories.
There's actually different levels of tests you can take.
You can get over 500 reports across 20 different categories.
There's 99.9% analytical accuracy.
And the other really cool thing is that you only need
to do one test in your lifetime.
So this is your DNA.
It's not something that changes.
It's not monitoring you for like your current health.
It's literally your DNA.
It blows my mind how we can,
we, like I've had something to do with the analysis of this,
but how someone can analyze DNA
and I've got access to it.
Awesome.
So as you can see,
there's a load of different categories in the app.
We've got diet, nutrition, wellbeing,
and then we scroll down sports and fitness.
We can even see the ancestry composition, personal traits.
It's really, really interesting stuff.
So I'm gonna go into diet section
to have a little look in there
and see what information we can find.
This is really an investment into your health as well,
because if you learn that you are naturally lacking
in a certain piece of nutrition
that would help you in your everyday life,
you can start kind of dieting in a different way.
You can start eating different foods to optimize how you are.
So for example here,
my optimal diet type is apparently low carb,
and that's interesting
because I do find I feel the best.
I feel the most energized and the healthiest
when I'm on a lower carb diet.
You can see different sensitivity levels
for different things.
Like for example, I've got a higher sensitivity to salt
and I'm lightly tolerant to lactose.
There's a load of different things in there.
If we go back, I'll show you a couple more.
So we've got wellbeing.
Then if we go into sports and fitness,
so my optimal sports type is medium power,
low endurance, and high strength,
which is really interesting
because that includes gymnastics, weightlifting,
and boxing, which is three sports
I've enjoyed very much in my life.
Weightlifting, especially before being pregnant,
was what I was mainly doing for my exercise,
and it shows that I'm optimizing my body in doing that,
so I'm gonna continue to do so.
We're actually gonna head to the shops now
and start this food shop,
but I think later on when we're putting the food shop away,
George can show you some of his results.
You can see how we differ.
We're actually quite similar in a few ways,
but we're quite different in others.
So we're gonna head to the shops now.
Just before we go, if any of you are interested,
we've got a discount code for Circle DNA,
which is JUICY, just literally JUICY in capital letters.
We'll pop it on the screen now,
and there is gonna be a link below as well
if you're interested in taking it.
There's also a premium test you can take as well,
but you can head over to the website
and read up on all the different details
that you're gonna get,
depending on what test you decide to take.
So let's head to the shops now.
Are you ready, George?
I'm ready.
Good.
And I can't wait to show you guys a kitchen update
because it's getting there.
It's not done, but it's getting there.
The two bathrooms are nearly done.
It feels good, actually.
It feels a bit more livable now,
even though we still haven't got a lounge
or a kitchen, really, that we can use,
but we're getting there.
Okay, we're just in the car.
Ignore this.
We need to do a tip run.
There's worktops.
There's cardboard.
There's polystyrene.
It's a bit of a mess,
but we're just heading there now in the car,
and I thought I'd do a tiny, quick pregnancy update
because I feel like I haven't done that
in the vlog in a little while.
So I am 30 weeks and five days pregnant
the day I'm filming this,
meaning that the baby could be here
potentially in like six weeks from now,
which is slightly terrifying.
I mean, we're so excited.
We want to meet him as quickly as possible,
but also we kind of want time to slow down a tiny bit
because it's going to be very tight
getting renovations done for back home,
learn how to use a buggy.
We need to learn how to use a cot.
We need to do some more reading up on some stuff.
There's a book I'm reading that I need to finish.
Thank you.
Waitrose bags, very essential here.
You have to pay for your bag at a shop here.
So it's always good to bring your own,
but it's like mixed feelings
because you're so excited to meet him,
but you're also like, I need more time.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm reading a book at the moment
called The Contented Little Baby Book or something,
recommended by Kim and Tom,
and they swear by it,
and I'm about a third of the way through,
so I want to finish that.
Just finding the time.
Then George needs to read it.
Just finding time, but yeah, it's all good.
Everything's going very well pregnancy-wise.
I've been seeing a physiotherapist for my pelvic pain
because I've had some pain.
And when I wake up in the morning,
it's like my hips and the front of my pelvis really hurt.
I think it's where your ligaments soften,
and then, I don't know, you just find more pain
and it's fine.
It's just, I've just been seeing someone
that's been helping me with some exercises
and some ways to sleep differently.
Sleep standing up now, don't you?
I do sleep standing up, no.
That'd be handy, wouldn't it?
Get more done.
He's kicking all the time.
You sort of feel real elbows and feet,
and you feel real big movements now
instead of just the kind of fluttered.
It's very much more obvious.
Nursery's pretty much done.
The nursery's getting there, yeah.
All the furniture's built in there now.
We'll do a full nursery tour when it's actually finished
because we still need to build a box around the boiler
because that looks very messy right now,
and there's still some stuff everywhere.
My bump's nice and big now.
We had noodles in the car last night,
and I managed to actually rest the noodles here,
like Phoebe and friends,
and ate my noodles with one hand, which was hilarious.
And your mum actually said the other day,
she was like, I think that's the neatest bump
I've ever seen in the history of bumps.
Like, it's very big, but it's incredibly round.
Like, it looks like I've stuffed a football on my top.
It's a very nice shaped bump.
I do really like my bump.
I will miss it, I think.
We'll just have to have another baby.
Here we are.
Quite soon after.
So this is.
Do you know what I just said?
I just said we'll have another baby straight after,
and you didn't hear that.
Yeah, why not?
Number two, get number two on the way.
Definitely.
This is Waitrose.
We're here at Waitrose, which I would say
is the kind of equivalent of Ruston's where we.
Yeah.
Or Ruston's, where we used to shop in BGC,
in terms of.
Quality.
Quality and the products they sell.
It is one of the nicest supermarkets.
Good spot there.
It's no lie that Lucy and I,
we don't mind spending a little bit more on quality food.
We love food.
We love good food.
We love being healthy.
You don't want to park there,
because that person's parked awfully.
Yeah, it's tight isn't it?
I'm going to go around there.
That's a good one.
Is it parent and toddler?
I do.
Nice.
Why can't people park?
I think, right, hear me out,
there should be a pregnancy space.
Because pregnant people can't walk as far as they can.
I'm being very dramatic.
But this car's too long.
Sometimes when you're feeling really tired
and you've been on your feet all day
and you need to come to the food shop,
it'd be nice being pregnant
to be able to have a space at the front.
We feel very fortunate that we are able to choose
the kind of food that we want to buy and stuff like that.
So we are here, I'm just parking,
still in my dad's very, very long car.
So let's continue.
New car's coming around Christmas now, I think.
Yeah.
We've had an update.
There's a Tesla in front of me,
I do not want to crash into that.
Because they have cameras all over them,
they'll be recording me.
And for other reasons,
not just the fact that you're being recorded
while you crash.
So now we have a, now the kitchen's nearly done,
we can actually do a proper full food shop.
And we also now know what we should be eating
to optimise our bodies.
This is the other thing,
this is our first food shop
since having our DNA test results back.
So we kind of know,
we've got so much more personalised information,
just on our, it's insane.
We'll show Georgie's answers later
and we're going to buy some things based on our answers.
I heard you, I was in the office,
I heard you talking about it, it sounds so cool.
We can optimise our bodies
and optimise our health and stuff,
which is what we're all about.
So let's go.
♪♪♪
Always check out the reduced section.
Little hack.
We've done a little bit of shopping so far.
It's mainly some vegetables, some chicken.
I'm going to get back in the gym very soon.
Just need that protein.
We are also still wearing our masks
in the supermarkets here.
People tend to in food shops.
You don't have to.
You don't have to, but people tend to.
Also just noticed that a lot of stuff
is wrapped in plastic here, which, I don't know.
We had that in Manila as well,
but a little bit surprising, I would say now,
to have stuff still wrapped in plastic.
But give you guys a quick idea on prices.
Strawberries like this.
They look really nice.
A few strawberries.
They do look good.
There's not many in there though, is there?
They are three pounds, which is how many pesos?
Quick mental maths.
Under 200, around 200.
Around 200 pesos.
We're now starting to look down the baby aisle.
This is all baby stuff.
They also have a pharmacy here and a cafe.
There's like a cafe.
You can have lunch or coffee here as well,
if you so desire.
This is our favorite supermarket, I would say.
It kind of has everything.
So we are stocked up.
Are we done?
And even though down there they have self-service checkouts,
you do still get real people helping with your shopping.
Although one big difference is that
you have to pack it yourself here.
There is no...
We got so used to people in Manila,
they would help you pack your bags.
But here, you have to do it yourself.
All right, we are done.
We will show you everything that we got.
And we'll also, we'll quickly watch back that vlog.
Thank you.
Where we did a grocery shop in Manila.
And I think we did a very, very similar video to this.
And we'll go through, compare the prices.
I think it's really interesting to see the difference.
Because in Manila, we were quite surprised
at what, from what we remembered,
how similar it was to the UK.
So now we're here, we can do it the other way around.
I don't know.
Could be interesting.
All right, we're home.
I'm just having a coffee.
I'm tired.
Today has been a long day.
We've been so busy lately.
Hardly had time to stop.
That's a lie.
Always time for a coffee,
but we've still got no living area.
So we're not sitting down.
Anyway, back from the grocery store.
We are going to go through.
We spent 80 pounds.
So that is, get the old trusty currency converter app out.
I haven't used this for ages.
Just over 5,000 pesos in the Philippines.
From memory, our food shops were always
around five or 6,000 anyway.
That should do us a week-ish.
Maybe just under a week.
That also actually included washing machine tablets,
dishwasher tablets as well.
So maybe the food was actually only 60 pounds.
So it's actually not too bad.
So we're going to show you some of the things we got.
I'm actually going to show you some of my DNA test results
because mine are also here.
This is our new wine rack, by the way.
Need to buy some wine to fill it up.
Or maybe not wine.
So my results.
I'm going to put my app on the screen as well
so you can have a look.
Let's go into stress and sleep.
Because recently, we do have stressful,
like things with our job and things with our lifestyle.
They're not like on a,
everything's all up in the air all over the time,
basically, with what we do.
So I have an average risk for sleep apnea.
Let's go into sleep depth.
Based on your genetic results,
you're likely to be a deep sleeper.
This was interesting.
For me, it said I needed over nine,
oh, where am I?
You're there.
Hello.
It said I needed over nine hours sleep.
You needed less than seven.
So it means that when you're saying,
oh, oh, oh, I need to have more sleep.
I know, but it's true.
Actually, scientifically, you don't.
I do.
I need more sleep.
I'm likely to only require a short sleep duration.
So less than seven hours.
It even goes as deep as skin.
So I'm going to click into skin.
The app's so nice as well.
You can see it, it's so easy to use.
Skin age, younger.
So based on your genetic results,
you're more likely to have a youthful appearance.
I mean, I agree with that.
It suggests you may look younger
than your chronological age.
And it actually gives you,
if you're interested,
it gives you some more scientific details
about your skin and stuff.
So just quickly scrolling down
to show you what the premium offers as well.
Family planning, some disease risks as well.
Common health risks.
You can see all this.
You can get as deep as you want to.
Or like us, you can just keep it
to kind of fitness and wellbeing.
And we did have a bit of ancestry in there as well.
Super interesting.
So, so much information based on your DNA.
So yeah, definitely check out Circle DNA
if that is something that interests you.
It's amazing what you can find out.
So personal to you from your DNA.
There is a link below
and you can use our code JUICY
for a discount on your DNA test.
But it is, it's like a thing you only have to do once
because it's never going to change.
So I'm going to do a little grocery haul,
which I don't often do.
Lucy often does stuff like this, don't you?
But I'm going to do it today
because I'm in the mood.
I think it's because I'm hungry.
We haven't had lunch today yet
and it's 4 p.m.
Bagels.
Some good carbs.
What are you doing?
Natural yogurt.
Why aren't you putting it away as you go?
You actually want me to put it away?
What's the point otherwise?
It's my kitchen, I don't know where anything goes.
In the fridge is mainly.
Okay.
This is going to be a much slower haul.
Okay, just do the haul.
Just do the haul and then I'll put it away.
Cheddar cheese.
Some good fats in cheese.
We've got some super foods here.
Argentinian blueberries.
Blackberries.
We like our berries.
Berries are super food.
Cherry tomatoes for Lucy,
although I don't like tomatoes personally.
Onions.
All fresh, healthy food from the ground.
Sourdough.
This is really, really good sourdough.
If you can get hold of this brand,
Jason's, it's really good.
We've got some wraps.
Some bananas.
Some grapes.
Avocados.
We're going to start having avocados again with breakfast.
Some more bread.
Some strawberries.
Really, really good nutrients in strawberries.
Mushrooms.
Some milk.
Chicken.
Can you tell I want to get back in the gym?
More chocolate oat milk.
Ketchup.
Dishwasher tablets.
Breaded haddock.
Fish.
Really good for you.
Some peppers.
Bell peppers.
Lucy told me recently that bell peppers
has the highest vitamin C.
Never knew that.
Some baby washing powder
because we're going to be needing that soon.
And of course, some eggs
because we love having eggs with our breakfast.
So I would say on the whole,
it's surprising me,
but I have a feeling that this was about the same price
as what we would have spent in Manila.
Would you agree, Lucy?
About that, I think, yeah.
I think the two are so similar.
It obviously depends where you shop.
But if we were trying to do a comparison in our own way,
and for us personally,
from memory, I would say that Ruston's,
buying the same stuff in Ruston's would be about the same.
Comment below if this is similar to your food shop
or totally different.
Or if you're watching in America,
how much are groceries?
If you're watching in other countries.
I find that so interesting
because it's something we can all relate to
doing the food shop.
Why don't you pick one food item
and say comment below how much that is where you live?
Okay.
Interesting.
Eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs is the one.
This is one pound in Waitrose for six eggs,
which I actually think is expensive.
So please comment below right,
oh, they're white eggs.
Comment below right now how much eggs are
where you're from.
For six eggs.
I'll give you 10 seconds.
Okay, I'm gonna read loads of those comments.
And that, ladies and gentlemen,
no, try that again.
And that, once again, ladies and gentlemen,
concludes today's video.
