New viruses from bats. The next nightmare. In Yunnan province, where lush tropical forests
harbor countless mysteries, scientists have discovered 20 new viruses in bats between
2017 and 2021. Two of these are closely related to deadly pathogens like Nipah and Hendra,
which have previously triggered devastating outbreaks in humans and livestock. Genetic
analysis confirms these are entirely new viruses capable of infecting livestock or even humans.
Alarmingly, they may be present in bat urine, raising the risk of transmission through
contaminated fruit or water sources. Symptoms of infection could range from fever and headaches
to severe conditions like breathing difficulties, seizures, or even brain swelling. The US Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention CDC states there is no immediate threat, but vigilance
is crucial. However, the Chinese public is far from reassured.
On social media, many are asking, is this another Wuhan in the making? Why do these
discoveries always come from China? These questions are not unfounded as memories of
the COVID-19 pandemic still haunt the nation. Past lack of transparency fuels suspicions
that the CCP may be downplaying the true danger of these viruses. With an already overburdened
public health system, can China handle another potential pandemic?
The COVID-19 resurgence. A hidden truth. While the world moves beyond the shadow of the pandemic,
China faces a new wave of COVID-19 far more severe than official reports suggest.
In Guangzhou and Kunming, a series of sudden deaths among doctors in their 50s has sparked
alarm within the medical community. Dr. Kong, a physician at a Guangzhou clinic, told the
Epoch Times that over half of his patients exhibit symptoms like fever cough and prolonged
fatigue hallmarks of COVID-19, but testing is rarely conducted.
Patients refuse to pay for tests because they're convinced they're already infected.
They just want treatment, he said. More troubling hospitals have halted large-scale
nucleic acid testing to avoid social panic following orders from local health authorities.
Personal accounts paint a bleak picture. A Guangzhou resident shared that his entire
family fell ill with symptoms worse than a common cold, lasting up to 10 days.
In Shenzhen, another resident described enduring severe pain for days while his neighbors suffered
for weeks.
We now assume every illness is COVID-19, he said.
Sudden deaths are also rising with two of his acquaintances passing away, one only 55
years old. These stories starkly contradict the government's claims that the outbreak
is under control.
Dr. Kong revealed a shocking detail at the height of the pandemic. A Guangzhou hospital
recorded over 600 deaths, yet official reports capped daily fatalities at five.
No one trusts the official numbers anymore, he said. This cover-up not only erodes public
trust, but leaves citizens feeling powerless in a system lacking transparency.
Lung Cancer Crisis – A Pandemic Aftermath
Another health crisis is shaking China – a surge in lung cancer, with over one million
cases reported according to Tencent News. Notably, the incidence among women, especially
non-smokers, has doubled over the past decade with a sharp spike between 2016 and 2020.
Authorities in some reports attribute this to over-diagnosis from increased CT scans
post-COVID-19. However, netizens have dismissed this as a clumsy excuse.
One user wrote on social media cancer diagnosis has clear standards. How can it be over-diagnosis?
Isn't this linked to the new coronavirus?
Another from Shanghai commented, the surge in lung cancer among women has nothing to
do with smoking or pollution. What's the real cause? I believe it all stems from COVID-19.
Doctors are sounding the alarm. Dr. Liu Chen from Peking University Cancer Hospital called
lung cancer a silent killer, noting it has the highest incidence and mortality rates
in China. Dr. Wang Jianhua, another expert said most patients are diagnosed in late stages,
leaving little hope for successful treatment. Personal stories amplify the fear.
One netizen shared, both my parents died of cancer in the past three years. Cancer is
everywhere around me. Who's poisoning us? Suspicions about a link between lung cancer
and COVID-19 are growing. But the government remains silent, fueling accusations that the
CCP is hiding the pandemic's long-term consequences.
Catastrophic floods in Rongjiang On June 28, 2025, Rongjiang County in Guizhou
Province was devastated by a once-in-a-century flood. In just seven minutes from 4.30 to
4.37 p.m., floodwaters engulfed the main street. Cars were swept away like toys, shops were
submerged in moments, and wooden homes cherished childhood memories for many were obliterated.
A video captured by residents showed water rising to seven meters, and in some areas
nine meters, submerging the first and second floors of buildings.
Where did this massive flood come from? one netizen exclaimed, echoing the shock of millions
witnessing the destruction. As the waters receded on June 29, they left
behind over a meter of mud-wrecked vehicles and the ruins of lifelong possessions. Estimated
damages reached 120 million yuan, with individual households losing 40 to 50 million yuan, some
even losing eight vehicles. A resident in his 30s shared, We lost about
20 million yuan, including air conditioners and electronics. It'll take at least two years
to recover. For low-income families, recovery could take
five to ten years. Charitable organizations called for donations, but public skepticism
led many to contribute just 0.01 yuan, with sarcastic comments like, I'd rather keep my
money for vegetables than donate to certain organizations. This disaster not only destroyed
property but deepened the public's pain and distrust in the system.
Economic Collapse Trust Evaporates In Fujian, one of China's economic powerhouse
is small and medium-sized enterprises are collapsing at an alarming rate. Over 10,000
businesses in Xiamen teeter on the brink of bankruptcy, with orders down 60 percent and
profits razor-thin. Business owners are exhausted navigating debts courts and banks with many
forced to mortgage their homes to survive. A finance professional in Xiamen said, Following
the rules drains you dry, but breaking them traps you with no way out. The real estate
market is equally dire with home prices in Fuzhou dropping by half, or even two-thirds
in some areas. A property once bought for 3 million yuan is now auctioned for just 1
million. Fujian's residents face a harsh reality. A
Kangshan district resident in Fuzhou said he relies on the night market economy to survive,
but even setting up a stall is fraught with risk. One day you might make enough to live,
but the next your cart and goods could vanish without a trace, he said. A recent incident
at a night market where law enforcement abruptly overturned stalls without warning sparked
outrage drawing thousands in protest. One resident shouted, I always knew this system
offered no hope for those at the bottom like us. But I never realized so clearly, we don't
even have the basic right to survive. The people's despair. Voices silenced. The loss
of trust extends beyond economics and healthcare to politics. Charitable calls for flood relief
in Rongjiang were met with skepticism and mockery, with many donating just 0.01 yuan
and commenting, I'd rather keep my money for vegetables than give it to certain organizations.
One resident bluntly said, we don't trust these groups anymore. Where does our money
go? Who controls it? The CCP's history of opaque charity management and information
suppression has alienated the public further. On social media, voices of dissent are growing
but swiftly censored. A post about the lung cancer surge was deleted within hours for
spreading misinformation. One user commented, they don't want us to know the truth. Every
time someone asks questions, the post disappears. What are we even allowed to say? This tight
control not only fuels frustration, but leaves citizens feeling isolated in their own country.
An uncertain future. China stands at a historic crossroads. New bat viruses, a hidden COVID-19
resurgence, a lung cancer epidemic, and Fujian's economic collapse are pieces of a larger puzzle
a nation in full-blown crisis. Behind the official numbers and reports lie the pain,
helplessness, and distrust of the people. The CCP may continue to control information,
but it cannot forever hide the growing cracks in society. Is this the beginning of a larger
transformation? Only time will tell. Thank you for watching China Undercover. Share
