Hey guys, let me just show you what you look like quickly. You're a little... can you see that?
I don't know if you can see that. You're on upside down GoPro on a suction cup on our car
driving back to Manila. Perfect. Welcome to a carpool karaoke. No, welcome to a raw,
mainly unedited, driving road trip Q&A. Don't drive too quick because that roaring engine and
annoying indicator clicking is going to be very noisy. That's the raw part. Okay, sorry about the
sound quality guys in advance. So I haven't actually got any questions up yet so you maybe
you can just chat until I've... So basically we thought we would do a Q&A today because I asked
for some questions on my Instagram the other day. A load of you guys sending questions if you follow
us on Instagram. If you don't by the way, please give us a follow down below. Lucy's going to get
some questions up. We just thought we'd use the driving hours. We've got about three or four hours
of driving today. This isn't going to be three or four hours, don't worry. We thought we'd
put it to good use and just have a chat with you guys and just bring you along on the journey. The
vlogs have been showing what we've been up to on the road trip but not the actual driving. So we
thought we'd bring you guys into the car with us today and just have a chat. Let's have a laid-back
chat, discuss a few things, answer some questions, see what's on everyone's minds, think about what's
on our minds and kind of go from there. Yes, let's do my Instagram first. Navigate me, don't forget
about that. I know, you're turning up in three... Oh, 1.7 kilometres. That went quick. That went very quick.
Question number one. Any tips for a long road trip? Film a Q&A to pass the time. I'd say for that
bring lots of water with you and coffee, road snacks because you don't know when you're next
going to be able to pull over and get snacks or water. But then also don't drink too much water
because then you can't even go for a wee, which is what we keep doing. Use the toilet when you can,
when there is one, even if you think you don't need to. This is like basic stuff. I don't know
if we need to be saying that. Any real valuable tips that we've learned? Go with the flow.
If you get lost, maybe stay lost. Is he trying to come out? I don't know. I think they're quite chilled.
Just go round. Yesterday we took a wrong turn and the navigation we routed
it was going to be 20 minutes slower but we ended up meeting the friendliest kids. We flew
the drone. It was like this countryside thing with the fields here and we wouldn't have seen
that if we'd stuck to the highway and went on the correct route but we had a much better experience
because we got a little bit lost. So go with the flow, don't get stressed, stay flexible.
And enjoy it. Road trips are fun. We've loved this. Cool and then to the end of this roundabout
taking the third exit. End of the roundabout. So many toll roads. I'm spending all my money
on this road. How much is this one? Maybe it's a ticket one. Hello, how much?
We've just been coming along this main road. Sorry, how much? 20. Thank you, thanks so much.
There we go. We always get tickets but no one's given us a ticket. And then the tellers are like
where's your ticket? Where have you come from? I'm just like that road, that one, that big road.
This car just handles so well. So what is one thing you like about the Philippines that made
you decide to stay here? Congrats on the new apartment. One thing is hard. What's the one
thing? I don't know. I want to try and not give the same answer that we always give but we usually
say the people. Yeah, it's true though. We've traveled so many countries now. This one feels
like the most home other than our actual home. Off camera we were having this conversation
yesterday. We were saying that we were just driving through anywhere and even these quiet
villages with small houses. Yeah. A real laid-back lifestyle and we were thinking to ourselves
if it was any other country we might have our wits about us a little bit more. Yeah. Be a bit
more careful. But we said genuinely we fully believe we could stop, get out and have a
good time with these people. Which might sound ridiculous and you might be like well yeah of
course you can, they're human beings. But like I don't know, we've driven like into the countryside
and other places in Asia and you feel a bit more like on edge sometimes because they might be like
what are these foreigners doing here, what are they doing? But I feel like here everyone just
smiles at you, everyone's so kind. Even in Asia, like if you were doing it in Europe, like driving
around small houses in America maybe, I don't know. Here we just feel super safe. I think the
welcomeness, the people and the safe feeling that we get here is a huge thing. This one says
as travellers how can tourism in the Philippines be at par with neighbouring countries? I think
it's very, like we just said, it's very welcoming here, like really welcoming. We were in Thailand
and it felt a little bit like, not all of Thailand, but some places felt a bit like there
were so many tourists that the locals were a bit fed up and they're a bit like oh there's so many
tourists here now, like there's more tourists than actual locals living here now, just because
it's gone a bit crazy there. But I don't know, I think, what do you think? Maybe like... That's what
we like about the Philippines though, that we can go to places and be sometimes the only foreigners
there. I guess I feel like the country wants to encourage tourism. Yeah. I think one of the
benefits of travelling the Philippines is that it's a little bit less touristy. Maybe some places can
start to increase their prices and stuff. Yeah. If they have less people but increase the prices then...
I don't know, I think that's one of the great things about it, that it's not completely
flooded with foreign tourists. But in Palawan it's very, very, very touristy.
Well it is on Philippine standards, but do you remember when we got to El Nido?
We were like, wow, this is untouched. God, we're discovering new ground here. We come from Thailand.
We come from the Thailand islands, then we go to El Nido and we're like, wow, this is a local
experience. Then looking at that compared to like Cameroon is crazy. Yeah, now we've learned that
actually El Nido is a touristy place. Yeah. Why don't you try cooking Filipino food at home?
That's something we definitely want to do, isn't it? For sure. Yeah, guys, we've
toyed with the idea of a cooking channel for a while now. Well, I wouldn't want to do like,
I don't know, what if I mess up the recipe? That's the fun of it. I don't want to have a
serious cooking channel, but that's the fun of it. We've never cooked Filipino food before. Yeah.
So it'd be fun. I don't want to do a serious cooking show because I think people are like,
and we can never compete with that because we're not, I don't know, we're not amazing.
Well, you are. Erwin's a chef. Erwin's a great chef and we learned that when we were on his show.
Exactly. But we would be more like, end up just messing it all up a bit and just having fun.
Not even intentionally, just because we're bad at it. We would just mess up. But I would like
to do that. If we did that, I'd like to, like we were just having a chat about our podcast.
Yeah. I'd like to do that in like chunks. So like plan out 10 episodes and have like
season one of the cooking show or something. Yeah, that'd be good. And then we can film them
in the apartment, get some guests on maybe, I don't know, like, but we need to get some
different cameras. We need to get some lights and set up. We're not yet set up to make cooking
videos, but something we definitely want to do. Excuse me, I'm tired. We need a title for the
cooking channel. Guys, if you can help us out in the comments. It'd have to be something with juice,
wouldn't it? Like cooking, cooking with juice. That sounds disgusting. Cooking with cookie juice,
juicy cookie, juicy cooking, juicy cooking. That's a bit boring. It needs to be like a really
good like, ah, that's a great idea. Comment below guys, help us out with this one. And also for the
music channel. Uh, right. Next one. Will you try to learn the local language? Honestly, hun. Hun?
Talk to me. I never said that to me, say hun. Sorry. Honestly, guys, is what I was going to say.
Honestly, we do struggle with languages. Like even in school, we like learnt, I learnt Spanish from
like the age of 10 to 17 and I don't know a word of Spanish now. Same, I learnt French and German
for four, no, for like six years in school and I can't speak any of it. I can't speak French or
German. I don't know why. And I spent six years of my life trying to learn it. We can't pick
languages up. I don't know if it's us. We're also very spoiled here that most people speak very,
very good English. One of the reasons that we, um, enjoy traveling the Philippines so much is
we don't have any language barrier. Um, but we also want to, of course we want to embrace it and
respect the language and everything like that. So we do try, we do try to use some phrases.
But we've had some comments saying like, oh, you, uh, if you don't know, um, how to speak the
language here fluently after a year, like then what? And I'm like, why? I won't. I just, I know.
But not intentionally. Like we do try and pick it up. We do speak to people that,
that do speak mainly Tagalog and not English. Um, what are we doing here? Get over and go straight.
Okay. These roads are so cool. They're like just big open roads. They're a bit weird,
but it's like empty. Like where is everyone? It's a Monday and there's literally no one.
Is it Monday? Is it Monday? Yeah, it's Monday. Um, yeah. So I just, uh, and then turn,
I don't, it goes round, right. Okay. Um, yeah. And it's not intentional. We're not like
not learning it on purpose, but I don't know, like learning a language is hard.
We don't have time to sit and physically learn it. We don't have time to go to lessons.
No, but we're trying our best to pick things up here and there. Yeah. And we do like start
to recognize little phrases. Yeah. When was the last time you forgot to put deodorant on?
Random question. Don't say today. I have actually, that's a weird question, but I have, I have
forgotten once when we did a boat trip. I was about to say when we did a boat trip, yeah. And
I was like, crap. But then we just kind of got in the water and... A little smell in the water.
Yeah. I don't often forget. Are you going to Batangas city? Yes. We've just come out from
Batangas city. Spent two nights there. That's another thing in the Philippines, driving,
you just kind of have to go and hope that people let you out and stuff. What is the
worst Filipino food you've tried? Worst? Worst. I don't know. I can't remember putting something
in my mouth and being like... I haven't had many bad experiences with Filipino food. No, me neither.
Balut wasn't great for me because of the situation I was in. Everyone was like around me,
counting me down and I put it all in in one by accident. And now I've just got a memory of not
being able to swallow. Sorry. It's awful. And what I'm saying sounds awful and I'm aware of that,
but I don't mean it like that. Balut. And I was like, I don't know. And now I've got a vision
of that. Like the flavor was fine and it was quite nice. It just tasted like an egg, but
the actual experience has like put me off it. And I don't know if I tried to do it again,
I think I'd struggle. But other than that, I mean, I think genuinely Filipino food's great.
I once had a bad soup. I can't remember where it was, but I had one mouthful.
No, I know. It tasted strange. We had fish sinigang in El Nido. First time I had sinigang
and you guys commented saying, guys, you went to a bad restaurant there, bad choice. It was kind of
like a touristy Filipino food place. It wasn't like authentic and traditional. That's the only
bad thing I can remember. Are we going left or straight? Straight for 8.4 kilometers.
Do you guys quarrel? Yes. Yes. Daily. A lot. Majority of the time. Yes. Do we film it? Yes,
we do. No, we don't. Not the majority of the time. No, we do. Yeah, we bicker,
but... Bicker? Is that what you call it? I'm joking. If you've seen Game of Thrones,
where they have those huge battle scenes, similar to that. Yeah, really similar. Like
the dragons come out. Yeah. Swords. Awful. But no, we are like every other couple in the universe.
If you don't argue, there's something wrong, I swear. We're like every other couple in the
universe, except we spend all day, every day together and film our whole lives. Correct.
But no, we think the key to a good relationship is communication. So if we don't like something
the other person does, we'll say it and that might cause an argument, but I'd much rather
be honest with each other and say it. The key to a healthy relationship is daily vlogging.
Wouldn't advise it, guys. No, I'm joking. Good morning. Where are you guys going?
When I put this out, I was going to Tagatay, but now I'm going back to Manila.
Where did you buy your beautiful rug? We bought one at our home and one at
Landmark. Landmark's balcony, one of our homes, the lounge one. We love you guys. Have fun. Thank
you. Did you format this card before you hit record, by the way? No. Do you reckon it's okay?
But it's still recording. Oh, I can see here how long's left. Oh, we've got 17 minutes left. Oh,
no, that's been going for 17 minutes. That's been going for 17 minutes. Okay, well, we'll just have
to- There's three hours left on the card, it says. Oh, great. Maybe it's formatted. It's 64
gig. Oh, yeah, that's fine. That's fine. When's the next meet with the fans? Because I'm excited.
We really want to do another one soon. Where should we do it? Maybe. Comment below. We're
thinking of doing a big Cebu thing soon and going around Cebu. We've only done Cebu City and Malbol
for Khao San Falls and Nozmina Peak, and that's the only bit of Cebu we've ever done. We've done
no islands around Cebu. We've not explored mainland Cebu. I know there's some amazing places.
We watch Finn's vlogs, and obviously, he's done a lot of Cebu videos because he lives there,
and we're like, wow, we didn't even know these places were so close to Cebu.
We definitely want to do more of that. I'm thinking a two-week trip.
Yeah, I'm thinking that. Proper Cebu- Cebu, Cebu, Cebu.
Thing. Yes, and maybe get a hire a bike from Cebu City for two weeks and just drive around,
and just have bags like that. Travel light, just properly go for it.
Yeah, that would be fun. That was about the meet up, wasn't it? Maybe Cebu, maybe Manila,
let us know in the comments, or somewhere else, and we'll try and sort that out soon.
Oh, what was that? Yeah, that was a big-
Those were flames. Okay, it's not- It was a big plastic milk bottle thing.
Great. When are Emily and Mike and the rest of the fam visiting the Philippines?
Guys. George's parents
texted me the other day saying, are you going to be there in March next year? Yes, we are.
Come and see us, so maybe. They're looking at flights, they're looking.
And Emily and Mike really want to come as well. My mum and her boyfriend, Jez, want to come out.
Some of my friends want to come out, so hopefully people start booking their flights,
we can get people in here. We would love that so much,
because we obviously miss our families a huge amount when we're here.
We were having a chat the other day, if someone came to us, depending on who was going to see us,
where we'd take them, because obviously we've been to so many places here, we can think of
an itinerary that would be perfect for them, because often we go somewhere and go, oh,
this person would love this here, or this person would love this, so we could
be in Manila for a few days and show them where we live and our favourite places there.
We just want everyone else to move here with us. Our parents could move here and just retire,
and then Emily and Mike could move here, and Emily could be a midwife here.
We just want all our family here, really. Then it would be perfect.
What traits do you hate most about each other but love at the same time?
All of them. None.
There's nothing I hate about you that I love, then I wouldn't hate it, would I?
Do you know what I mean?
That's not being weird, that's not what the question is. It's saying something you hate,
but you're like, oh, it's quite sweet.
I don't hate anything about you, other than, okay, sometimes...
Oh, here we go.
Okay, Lucy does this really annoying thing, and it's because we've been together for so long,
and because she's super honest and blunt sometimes, but I'll make a joke,
and you'll just flat out tell me that it's not funny. You just go, shut up, or you just go,
that's not funny, is it?
Yeah, because...
And I've spent so long thinking, I think it's great, I'm laughing my head off myself,
and then you look at me, and I'm like...
And then you're just like, it's not funny.
Well, like I said, community is... community?
I don't know, it's been indicating for the last hour.
Shall we go round?
No.
No rush, the pie can wait. We're off to find a book or pie, by the way.
What was I saying? Community is key. No, what was I saying?
Communication is key. Lost my train of thought.
What's one thing you hate about me?
No, no, no, what you said about me. Oh, yeah, so you'd rather I...
If I laughed at your bad jokes, you'd tell them bad jokes to other people,
and then people would think you're an unfunny person.
I do that anyway.
But you're a very funny person, so I'd rather be honest,
and laugh at the jokes that are funny, and get you more laughter.
Okay, so you're like a critic?
Yeah.
And you, okay, all right.
What do I hate about you? Your lack of listening skills.
Yeah, that's my biggest flaw, I think.
But, like, it's quite bad, because I'll often, like, have a whole conversation with George.
I'm getting, like, yep, yep, yep, back.
And then, like, literally, I'm not saying, like, four days later or a week later.
I'm saying, like, four minutes later, he goes, like, da-da-da,
and asks me something we've just spoken about.
And I'm like, George, we just spoke about that for ages.
Like, did you not hear anything I said?
And he's like, no.
I'll start again, shall I?
And then by that point, I can't be bothered to say it all again,
and we just don't ever talk about it.
And maybe get on this other road, because I'm that person.
Yeah, cool.
But yeah, apart from that, I mean, you'll forget you're sometimes good at listening.
Sometimes you're not.
Occasionally, I have to really try.
Yeah, I'm not even going to read out, because rude.
Go on.
Lights on or lights off?
Well, lights on, because otherwise, like, the exposure on the camera is not very good.
You can just kind of see shadows when we're vlogging.
So yeah, more lighting, the better.
Is it easy adjusting from right-hand driving to left-hand driving?
You can answer that one, because you do most of the driving.
Yes, now it is, because I've done more.
Well, recently, I've driven more on this side of the road.
I nearly said the wrong side of the road.
This side of the road.
But actually, when I first got in this car a few days ago,
I was kind of like, I take like 10 minutes.
10 minutes to adjust, like, learn the car, learn the width, that side.
I'm not going to hit anything.
Change where it's automatically, like, using the gear stick with your right hand,
not your left hand.
That kind of thing.
But yeah, like 10 minutes, and I'm good.
I'm good.
What is your favorite house chore?
None.
No, you've got one.
You like washing up, don't you?
I don't like washing up.
You told me you like washing up.
Occasionally, if I have the right tools, and like, there's not too much.
I like...
There's something therapeutic.
And if it's not stressful, that I can just...
If like the drying rack is clear, I can just put stuff on it.
Then washing up is okay, if I've got some music on and stuff like that.
All right.
My favorite is mopping.
I've got a new mop.
Oh, that's pretty fun.
It's got like a trigger, like a spray gun.
Yeah.
And there's the mat thing that's attached velcro onto this mop.
And then the spray goes past it, and then you can go over the spray.
It's actually pretty satisfying.
And then you can like mop the whole floor really quickly.
So I loved it in that.
But I hate sweeping.
I hate sweeping, but I like mopping.
But you have to sweep before you mop.
I know.
Okay, so we're going on to some from my phone.
So if you gave me a question on my Instagram, thank you very much.
Cool, right.
Where did you and Lucy meet?
Oh, there's a whole video on this.
So we're not going to tell the story.
Again, we tell the story a lot.
So there's a whole video.
Just search Juicy Vlog, how we met, and it'll come up.
You can watch that video.
I can't even remember how we said it.
Friends of friends, at a party, long story, friends for a while before we got together, etc.
What's your favorite British food?
British chips, maybe.
Yeah, or really good roast dinner.
But with like red cabbage.
And like...
Yeah.
Oh, look at this baby.
Oh, my goodness me.
Yeah, that's so cute.
Tongue sticking out there.
Someone here, I don't...
They said, when was your first time here?
Do you ever think or plan to have an apartment here?
Well, funnily enough, we have an apartment here.
Yeah, our first time was in November, 2000.
Oh, wow.
Let me film that for you.
Yeah, we need to film that for the vlog.
Wait, no, that's not it.
No, but it's a Bucco Pie picture.
Yeah, but it's not...
It's not the one we're going to.
We got excited and started filming this, but this is not the right one.
So ignore this.
This is not apparently the right one.
I don't know where we're going now.
We're also currently filming the Q&A, guys.
We've got the GoPro suction cup in order.
It's working.
It's stuck to the window.
Yes, and we're doing Q&A questions at the same time as vlogging.
Right.
No, it was the water bottle going bang.
Right, let me leave this in my lap.
There's so much going on.
Right.
Maybe slow down a little bit because we've only got four minutes
till we get there and I'm not done with questions yet.
Liz, this has been a 25 minute video.
I think we're okay.
It's fine.
We've only asked like two questions from you so far.
First place in the Philippines you'd recommend to a foreigner?
That's so hard.
It depends on like what you're saying about a family coming over.
It totally depends on each person because I feel like some people would
absolutely love like El Nido, the stunning tours there and like the boat trips and stuff.
Yeah, the beaches, the water.
But also some people would love like the mountains and like driving up north
and like getting like the real raw Philippines adventure.
It's hard.
Then some people would love Manila.
It's like, it depends on the person.
But overall I'd probably say like an island of some sort.
Siargao is really cool.
Start there so you can see the real beauty.
And then if you like it, keep traveling.
Have you been to Chiang Mai, Thailand?
Yes, we love, love, love Chiang Mai.
Mainly for the food.
We love Thai food.
There's so many questions about your hair.
Because I think you had your hair like this, like down.
Oh yeah.
And fluffy when you did this and everyone's like,
what, how long have you had the hair style for?
When did you change it?
Why have you got new hair?
I like, for a day or two, I didn't wear my hat.
When I, like today, like I haven't showered.
Oh, okay, put the hat back on, quick.
I haven't, um, not showered.
I haven't done my hair.
I have showered.
And then my hair's just like kind of flat when I normally wear my hat.
Because I haven't put any product in it.
So I usually have a hat, but for like two days I didn't.
And I got so many messages like, wow, new hairstyle.
And you're like, no, just being lazy.
How are you liking your new Manila life?
What do you love and hate about it?
We love it.
What we love about it is that we can go off on trips like this
and leave stuff there.
We can come back to it.
We can sit down, edit vlogs.
We've got fast internet.
We can cook.
We can eat healthily.
We love the plants.
We have a gym in the building.
The plants, our own sofa, our own TV.
We can sit down in the evening.
You've said all the love bits, which means I've got to answer the hate bit.
All right, sorry.
That's just, I don't hate anything about it.
Um, I actually don't know what I hate about it.
I don't think I hate anything about it.
I hate about my, traffic's not ideal.
But rarely, we're rarely in traffic because we normally walk everywhere now.
Because most things are in BGC.
So traffic's not fun, but it's okay.
Yeah, I don't know if it's something I hate about.
Having to, having to wash up again, probably.
Yeah, yeah.
That's fine because it's still, still a nice thing to be able to do, isn't it?
So, uh, someone's asking about the link for the TV show.
But I don't know if we can actually get that, can we?
Working on it.
Any plans for entering the modeling or entertainment industry other than vlogging?
When we were, I don't know.
I feel like, I'd love to like, host a show or like, present something.
Like, at some point.
And like, my dream in life is to be on a billboard somewhere.
Really?
I think it'd be really cool, but I don't really know.
I wouldn't say it's actually my dream.
There's no plans, right?
We're not, we're not going.
Oh sorry, we missed the turning.
Oh, I did say navigate.
I've got two phones in my hand.
I'm trying to vlog.
I'm trying to film a Q&A and I'm trying to navigate.
All while staying alive.
Um, right.
Just need to do a U-turn, basically.
Maybe not down there.
Then maybe carry on, actually.
And do, sorry, maybe do a U-turn at some point.
How do you keep motivated on doing vlogs?
Does losing interest ever come in the way?
That's a good one.
I think if we've got, after having spent like three weeks in Manila,
which is what we've just done, before this road trip,
we were obviously still really enjoying our time there.
But I think we were kind of ready for a bit more of an adventure.
And it's nice just being able to do that when we've been in a certain place.
Because we don't like sitting still for too long, do we?
No.
We like moving around.
But I don't think we ever lose interest in vlogging.
Every day we still want to pick the camera up.
Yeah, but I think some days you feel it more than others.
Yeah.
And that's why we've started taking the occasional day not filming.
And then we either catch up on other work or editing,
or we try and have a day off or something.
Yeah, definitely.
Yeah, some days you, it's never a chore because it's fun to make a vlog.
Yeah, definitely.
And we're going to end this vlog off here.
Vlog, it's not really a vlog.
We're going to end the Q&A here because we are 300 meters away from our destination.
Yay.
