Hey guys, welcome back to the channel.
Now today, I've just been scrolling through,
Alice, we've just been scrolling through your comments.
We've been replying to a load of comments
and a few things stuck out to us.
And as we were looking through the comments
and replying to some,
it kind of inspired us to pick up the camera
and film this extra video
because we were seeing the same kind of things
and the same questions.
And we suddenly realized that a load of you
are brand new to the channel
and you may not necessarily know much about us
or much about what we've been doing
or why we're even here in the Philippines,
why we're here in the first place.
So today we wanted to kind of talk a little bit more
about that.
Up to now.
Yes. From August to now.
From August to now,
which is where this kind of journey started.
Yeah.
We've had a lot of comments
and a lot of messages from you guys asking us
how long we've been doing this,
how long we've been traveling,
how long we've been away from home,
away from our families.
So today we kind of want to talk about this.
We filmed a video before we left called-
I feel like I need to wear sunglasses.
Yeah.
Now we're inside.
It is bright.
We filmed a video called
telling our families we're going traveling.
For all you new subscribers to the channel,
this will hopefully show you kind of where we came from,
a decision we made to pack everything up,
sell everything we own,
leave our home behind,
leave our families.
It was crazy.
Like it was,
it wasn't something that had been planned
for years and years.
It was more like a,
hi family,
we're going in a few months.
And we're going to make YouTube videos.
For our job.
We've sold everything.
We've put our jobs,
we've had our notices in.
It was quite a block of fresh decisions.
Yeah.
We obviously were very excited about the future
and what would happen,
but it was a lot of like unknown as well.
I don't want to say scary,
but it was a bit,
because we never went to Asia.
It was a big decision.
YouTube was by no means our full-time job at that point.
We both had sort of normal full-time jobs.
And it was kind of like,
this is it now,
we'll never kind of jump,
wasn't it?
We both got the idea in our heads.
We were talking about it every day,
every night.
We were getting excited.
We were planning it.
And we decided to go.
We booked a one-way ticket and off we went.
So that's kind of it in a nutshell.
We wanted to watch back for us,
but we wanted to share it with you.
A video where we tell our families,
we're going traveling and we're leaving.
Yeah.
I remember at the time it being quite like,
it was very emotional,
wasn't it?
Like the day we left.
Oh yeah, that.
And the day we left.
The day we filmed the video we're about to watch,
was actually the day that the video telling you guys
that we're going traveling went live.
And it went live at six o'clock that evening,
We were all around the TV watching it
and waiting for the comments to come in.
What would the reaction be?
Will people be excited?
Or will they ask what the hell we're doing?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We haven't watched this since we filmed it,
since we saw it on that first day.
So we're four months into traveling.
We're in the swing of it.
I need to get the laptop actually.
What are we going to watch it on?
Okay, so we're going to get the video loaded up now.
I'm nervous.
I can't actually remember what we said in it.
I know it was only four months ago.
Yeah.
I feel like, four months is a long time.
And considering we do a video every day,
like God knows what we said in that.
I don't want to get emotional.
You might.
You.
No, I'm probably more likely to get emotional.
I'm getting some spray on today because we're off.
What?
Like, weird way to start a vlog.
I'm a vlogger.
I'm explaining what I'm doing with my day.
Oh, you're saying hi?
Yes.
Off to a family barbecue in a minute.
What else do I need?
Lucy, this morning, has been in the most annoying mood.
Thank you.
I feel like this is going to be
a really unflattering angle, isn't it?
That's all right.
It's coming right above you.
That's how it is, a flattering angle.
Yeah, sweet.
This is our room.
We have a really nice flat.
It's a one bedroom flat, a small place,
but we decorated it really nicely.
Our announcement went live a couple of days ago for you,
yesterday for us.
No, sorry, today for us,
and we are like super, super excited.
So, a load of you were asking us in messages and stuff,
have you guys quit work?
Like, a load of you guys knew already.
People, like, it freaked me out
because people were like, why aren't you working?
Why are you not driving your car?
Why are you getting the train everywhere?
And what was the other one?
There was a third.
Because Lucy obviously worked for BMW,
so our cars over the last couple of years
have been like work cars.
People figured it out, didn't they?
Yeah, yeah, they did.
I feel like you look the same, but I look so different.
It's because my hair's quite long,
and I'm wearing the same hat.
And I'm not wearing makeup now.
But you'd think we might be like chilling now,
and loving life.
Wasn't that freaking me out?
Wasn't it freaking us out?
I've definitely lost weight, though.
Definitely.
We've both definitely lost weight.
The reality is that we've actually been working
harder than we ever bloody have,
in a good way, though, on everything that we love doing.
But it does mean, let me zoom out here,
does mean that this flat is like,
oh, sorry, it's like screwed up.
It's basically messed up,
because we've got boxes, we're packing stuff away.
Although, we're leaving.
Everything went.
Literally done, like nothing.
Like, we have so much to do.
And every day we write this list up,
we'll do that, we'll do that.
And then the other day we're like,
oh, we've done one thing.
Sounds like us now.
We get busy, like, doing that.
Same sizes.
Same shoes.
Still going strong.
Very quick stop at Tesco.
We need to get some pudding,
because everyone has agreed to bring some stuff
to the barbecue.
I was on pudding duty.
My mum and dad.
Aww.
There they are.
What's better than going to someone's house
and pictures of you being right over the walls?
Oh, yeah, my mum did all them posters, didn't she?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, that's nice.
So cute.
They turned it into like a little leaving party.
Gotham Palace and Implements Rewards.
That was on the cruise.
That was on another cruise.
We don't most other photos now.
We need to get them up in this trip.
That could have been.
Good luck, Juicy Vlog.
Oh, there you go.
Love it.
That is an old photo.
Not that old.
I think it's probably two years old this December.
Like a year and a bit old.
Yeah.
It's a bit rainy, isn't it?
Yeah.
Let's see her.
Aww.
My niece.
Should we go and play some football?
Yeah.
Go on then.
There she goes.
She's tiny.
I swear, we facetimed quite a lot.
And I swear she's much bigger now, isn't she?
Yeah.
Oh, that was so fun.
This feels like ages ago watching this.
It really does.
So throughout today's vlog,
we want to find out what our family
actually think about us going away.
So we're going to ask them a couple of questions and stuff.
Because obviously going away for a whole year.
Look at my chin, sorry.
I look chubby in my face.
So do I, look at me.
Look at, I look like an owl.
I've got a big, duffy chin.
I've lost weight.
Daughter who's 21, just going away.
We're going to miss things.
And like the Georgie's parents,
it's like their son who's like 25,
going away for like a whole year.
I don't think they're...
I'm still sarcastic.
I'm so chubby in my face.
No, seriously, I've just had to pause it.
We look fat.
Yeah.
No offence to both of us.
The Asian diet works.
Rice, noodles and rice and chicken and egg and stuff is good.
No, I actually can't get over that.
That's crazy.
I feel like now I feel like talking
because I have a constant chin.
My face is like...
Podgy.
Yeah, it's properly podgy.
And what's up with my chin?
Didn't realise.
Oh well, I'm feeling good.
Yeah, me too.
You're the older one, aren't you?
Yeah.
You're the family.
I actually can't go.
Oh, you've been rolling around on grass and stuff.
I guess we should quickly talk about
what it was actually like when we did tell them
because we weren't really nervous.
We've been planning it for a while.
I feel like it wasn't like a sit down,
like this is what we're doing.
It was more like this is our plan,
we would like to do it.
It wasn't until we'd actually booked the flights
when they were like,
blimey, it's actually happening.
That was kind of the big deal.
I'm actually falling over here.
I've got you.
All right, you got me, yeah?
I've got you.
Genuinely so nice to...
What are we doing?
We can now talk about it.
No, I don't have you.
But it's like a week, it doesn't...
I feel like we can't take it seriously.
I know, we didn't.
And we're still joking around.
Miss family and stuff,
then hopefully you can watch our videos,
because we'll be talking about how we feel
like the whole step,
like every step of the way.
Like these days with like Skype and FaceTime.
I feel like we speak to them more
than when we actually do.
Yeah, we probably will.
You're so hot.
We do.
Oh, burgers.
Oh, the British barbecue.
That's one thing we miss.
And family.
The British bees.
Pretty nice shot, that.
Forget it's flying away.
That's a good shot, Liz.
Thank you.
Happy with that?
Oh, Steve.
Me pretending to be a dinosaur, look.
She's so cute.
The air con's blowing into my eyes
and it's not actually helping the situation.
Oh.
So cute.
We have made this video to help you.
This is us, all of our family,
watching our announcement video.
So dramatic.
Lots of running around.
Update, the rain's still here,
but it's slightly lessened.
The barbecue's almost done.
You're being a dinosaur again.
What are you doing?
Is that all right?
Mine's not going in.
Excuse me.
What are you doing?
Food is ready.
Kelly has managed to cook a barbecue in the rain.
Very, very impressed.
Lucy, obviously first in.
No, like, care, really, for guests.
No, I'm a guest.
I guess.
This is all about me today.
Yo.
Wow, that looked really good.
Cheese.
No, not interested.
Through the legs.
Right, what are you doing?
I want a cheeseburger.
I need to put the camera down so I can eat.
We have a cake.
Aw, that's so cute.
It says, have fun and stay safe.
How cute.
Yum.
Yummy.
How do you feel?
I feel really good.
This cake is like.
No, about the whole thing.
Not about the cake, for God's sake.
What are you asking me?
At this point in this day,
Lucy and I were both starting to feel quite emotional.
Yeah.
I think we covered it up by talking about the cake.
Yes.
Right in there.
Thanks, Theo.
Go in the camera.
We're talking to the camera.
Can you see yourself?
No.
Can you go, hello?
No.
I'm too shy.
You what?
You're shy.
We asked our families how they felt
about us going away for a whole year.
Very sad.
But very happy for you.
It's a massive adventure for you, Lucy and George,
and you're gonna love it.
My take on it is, I want you to take me with you.
Ah, man.
Yeah, I wanna go.
I'm gonna miss you like mad.
I'm worried.
But you're gonna have a great time.
Very sad.
You guys are both sad.
But very excited for you.
Yeah, very happy for you.
It's a real opportunity.
I'm very afraid.
Yeah, that's all I was gonna say.
Yeah, I think it's a really, really great thing
you guys are doing,
so I just really hope you guys are doing well.
But remember,
no tunnels and caves.
No waterfalls.
And don't carry dodgy packets.
Dodgy packets?
What do you mean dodgy packets?
I'd like to come.
Well, I mean, you're going on my birthday,
so that hurts.
Yeah, we left on my sister's birthday.
Sorry.
I'm jealous, but glad we're going to film in China.
So enjoy, have lots of fun,
and stay hydrated.
Stay hydrated.
Don't cry, Em.
No, really, stay hydrated.
Do you think they'll have lots of fun?
What do you think they're going to see on their holiday?
Horses.
Do you think they'll see horses?
What else do you think they might see?
No.
They won't see horses?
Do you think they're going to ride some bikes?
Yeah.
How about dinosaurs?
Do you think they'll see some dinosaurs?
Yeah.
And what noise do dinosaurs make?
Roar.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye, see you soon.
See you soon.
Yeah.
Oh.
Oh, wow, that's where we ended it.
Wow.
The emotional piano music.
Oh, wow, that's so, that's good to watch.
Oh, we literally haven't even watched that
since we've left.
That's so nice.
We miss our family's loads.
That is the only negative of what we do.
It's the only downside to traveling so much.
Like we said, we've got FaceTime,
we text all the time,
but it's not quite the same, is it?
Yeah, it's not the same.
Thanks for watching that with us.
We've had quite a few messages from you guys as well
saying that you are currently working away
from the Philippines, from your homes,
and you're feeling quite homesick.
And some of you have said that our videos
have actually helped with that.
Obviously, a lot of you would have been away
from home longer than we have.
And we'd love to know how you deal with homesickness.
Yeah, so we're not comparing at all.
We've only been away for three or four months.
But we'd love to know whereabouts you are,
whereabouts you're watching these videos.
Leave us a comment below.
Let us know.
We'd love to jump onto the comments
and have conversations with you guys.
So that pretty much brings us up to now, doesn't it?
Yeah.
Hopefully that has given you guys an idea
of what the hell we're doing here.
Yeah, our little background.
How we came to get here,
and a little bit of backstory on us and the channel.
Thank you for watching this video, guys.
We hope you enjoyed it.
Please give it a big thumbs up if you did.
And do subscribe if you want to see daily videos.
And we'll see you, as always,
tomorrow.
Bye.
