Okay, today is July 3rd. It's Independence Day in Belarus.
This is the date that they were liberated from the Nazi Germans in 1944.
So I just happen to be right in the heart of the celebration. Concerts, food vendors,
beer vendors. Can you hear that?
I don't usually drink on a school night. It is a Monday, but it is Independence Day and since I
can't be back in the States and celebrate 4th of July, I'm gonna celebrate 3rd of July in Belarus.
So let's go have a beer and maybe a couple hot dogs.
Alexander Solovyov
Okay, let's wait in this line here. I gotta get a beer.
I think it's five rubles. Like two and a half dollars. Good deal. No, a dollar and a half,
So, one beer, please.
Can. Yeah, yes.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
So, how do you like my Russian?
Means one beer, please. I'm learning. I'm getting there. The basics. Cheers.
I think this is a hanging contest. Seems easy. Probably hard though.
Okay, I figured it out. The challenge is you gotta hang for 120 seconds.
120 seconds and I think you win. It looks like 50 rubles. See if he can do it.
Previous guy couldn't do it.
Boom. Loser. Okay, catch the ducky. Come on. Come on. Win the stuffed animal.
There you go. Hooray.
Where are you from? What's your channel?
Ah, nice.
Just an FYI.
Soldiers, there's police everywhere. I walked over here, walked over the bridge, over the Victory
Square. Soldiers hanging out on the bridge. Probably 15, 20 of them on each side.
And then the taxi driver dropped me off on the main road right here where there's guard rails
separating the main road from this festival. And then I jumped over.
Don't move. Police were right on me. I thought I was going to jail.
But I didn't. I didn't. They made me walk all the way down to the crosswalk
and come in through that way. Kind of stupid, but I understand.

Okay, this menu looks like everything's about five or six Rubles.
which is about two dollars where you see it says well there's no price and it
says HET that's Nyet which means no so it's probably out that's probably not
available that's what I'm guessing
I love I'd know Piva Oliveria no so that's key so that's key
Marsha
Well, I'm glad I did.
Got to experience Independence Day
in Minsk, Belarus.
It's kind of nice, I mean,
I'm right in the heart of,
right in the center of Minsk.
Right across from Galeria,
which is the main shopping mall
in Minsk.
And across the street,
there's a big festival.
Huge concert.
There's probably 5,000 people here.
I really enjoyed myself.
All walks of life
at this festival.
You got older people,
you got younger people,
you got families,
you got uncles,
you got, you know,
groups of single guys,
groups of single girls.
I mean, everything.
Everything.
So yeah, I really enjoyed myself.
And you know what?
Just like it is in the U.S.
You know,
they're cooking hot dogs,
they're cooking chicken,
they've got, you know, kebabs.
You know, they've got beer in the can,
beer in a bottle,
beer in the draft.
I feel like I'm at home.
Tomorrow's Fourth of July in the U.S.
But you know what?
I just had my Fourth of July
in Belarus.
So until next time,
ciao.
