hello everyone
it's me again
10 minutes
it's a monday
about
it's actually about uh quarter to seven
not a good day for uh
most people around the country
well
off belarus but the united states you
know the stock market crashed
so
i'm feeling a little sick in the stomach
right now my portfolio i don't even want
to look at it i don't even want to look
at it
but
i thought it would be a good time
to go do uh food prices i'm gonna go
grocery shopping
grocery shopping in
in minnesota at a popular grocery store
um
from what i'm hearing
the price of food hasn't really gone up
too much it's gone up but you know
the inflation's not nearly as high as it
is the united states
um
the us dollar is strong right now
if you look at the exchange rate on all
the main exchange rates
it's 3.38
belarusian rubles per one us dollar
but
if you're in belarus inside minsk
uh you're gonna you're gonna get an
exchange rate of 2.5
so
you know that's the lucachenko exchange
rate
um and i thought well maybe uh
maybe
maybe if i use my credit cards
maybe i'll get a higher exchange rate
maybe i'll get that 3.38
or 3.40
but showing on all the major exchange
exchange rates but
no
um in the banks i got 2.52 and
on my credit card i got 2.58
so
so we're not getting that we're not
getting a good exchange rate so oh
anyways
not a problem not a problem
it's still a good deal when you're over
here
so anyways we're going to walk
we're going to walk uh to a grocery
store we'll go through
look at the prices of uh some of the
items
and uh i'll try to calculate my head the
exchange rate for you guys so uh
stay tuned
okay
so uh we're just around the corner
from my apartment actually
and
guess what i have the pleasure of having
right right around the corner
the
namo stadium
it was uh
i think it was built yeah let's see
built in 1929
and uh it got i think it got ruined
during the world war world war ii
i think in 1939 or 1940
um and then it was remodeled again
like
around the 50s and 60s
and then remodeled again
just before uh the 1980 uh summer
olympics
when uh
when actually the soviet union uh hosted
the olympics and they actually uh had
had all the football matches
were at this stadium in 1980
so i didn't know that and so union was
so big right so you always thought it
was in russia
but a lot of the events were in
different different countries or
different states of the soviet union
but this is a magnificent stadium
so they have uh track and field
you know so they have all the running
events
they also have
all the field events like the shotput
javelin
and obviously they have football matches
in here
and um
i think that's about it so that's all i
know about it but but i am going to
a football match on sunday so i will
share that
so uh stay tuned for that
okay we're actually almost there
right next to the stadium
so we're gonna
actually walk on up
it's this building it's right in front
of us
and uh i don't know if you can really
let's get a little bit closer
the english version
of this
is it means supermarket
supermarket
and then
the russian version
i'll have i'll have katya share
how do you say it in russian
supermarket yes
oh i thought it was another way okay
all right
so it's the same
okay
all right well there you go guys
[Music]
all right
okay
all right
oh yeah i've been in this one
i like this
[Music]
[Music]
oh that's cool
[Music]
okay
um
[Music]
okay
all right so
why don't you uh price out the bread
here for us gotcha
[Music]
okay so that's like 50 cents right 50
cents for one of those
for that bread
okay
so that's just over one dollar
between
bread lithuanian bread okay
yeah
why don't we do a specialty bread
[Music]
two robo's 34 so just under one dollar
one dollar for this
that's a pretty good deal
i don't buy bread but i think that's a
good deal
[Music]
okay
and the cheese aisle here
[Music]
two ribs eighty-nine so that's just over
one dollar
one dollar for one of these
okay that's a good deal that might be
like
three dollars in the states
i'm a cheese lover so kind of know what
the price is
what else we gonna look at here for the
chiefs
about
okay ricotta
we got three three rubles 49.
so just over just over a dollar about
1.25
all right
okay so now we're in the specialty
cheese
or you can get blocks of cheese
so how much would this be
no there's one kill for one kill
[Music]
18
fourteen
five
point nineteen
so five verbals
yes wow
okay
so it's like it's like two dollars
[Music]
384
364. okay
so about a dollar 25.
all right
okay
i think it'll be double
double in the states
okay so now we're in the
meat aisle
so katya say we want to have a nice
steak dinner
which steak would you choose
[Music]
maybe over here
so what happens is the chicken
how much is that
[Music]
for one pound or
or one kilo
one kilo 15
so that maybe that's five six dollars
okay well that's
i think that's expensive
all right
all right one kilo 18
so it's about six seven dollars
okay
that's getting i mean i don't think
that's as high as the states definitely
not
i think we're looking like if you go to
whole foods maybe
it's like ten dollars fourteen dollars a
pound
so if you want uh chicken chicken drums
drumsticks
so about two dollars for a pound or a
kilo
okay and that's 779
for one kilo
so that's about uh three dollars
okay
that must been prime prime chicken over
here really expensive is that chicken
or is that turkey
[Music]
what is it
yeah it might be turkey
or a hen
yes
for spence 10 today
yes okay all right
okay so say we want to buy some water
this must be mineral water
yeah and that is a dollar 69
[Music]
for that bottle so that's less than a
dollar
so russian water yeah
so that's probably around 75 cents
it's a pretty good deal
this one's a little bit less than set so
this one's about 50 cents
the water is
okay
russian water
okay oh that's a little higher
so 305 for the large bottle 169 for the
small bottle so that's
for the small bottles about 50 about 60
cents
okay so
say we want to have a pasta dinner
so we can see look at this bag it's 349.
three ribbons 49
so that's about a dollar 25. i think we
can
probably get
something similar in the states
um
so but really we have this at home
uh
this is uh four
rebels 39.
so it's about
maybe less than two dollars
there's a lot in there so i i'm thinking
the pasta is about the same
so uh
yes
look over here
oh here we go
so we can go with uh
this is what i would do there's a
pasta for one ruble 49
so that's about 55 60 cents
so
we probably couldn't couldn't get that
deal in the states
pasta okay
okay so these are the sauces for the
pasta
they look a little bit different than
ours
they go maybe concentrate
so
9 69 so i'll be like three bucks three
or four dollars
make sure you mix it with something
okay all right let's go on to the next
okay so we got different types of milk
here
so two rubles eighty
two herbal 66.
looks like it's uh reduced fat one and a
half percent
looks like it's heavy fat
[Music]
too herbal so
so milk uh is less than a dollar
okay i think that's a lot less than it
is
okay so here are the eggs
they don't they don't do 12
they do 10
to a carton
[Music]
pretty sure let's see here maybe they
do uh no they do 10.
we do 12 in the states
so
what's the price for 10.
so for this one
two were both 79. so just over a dollar
uh three rubles 25
that's over a dollar
two rubles one that's less than a dollar
[Music]
probably
just out of the cage maybe
four rule of 71.
so
if i go to trader joe's
i can get a dozen eggs for two dollars
but if you go whole foods they're up to
like six or seven dollars
so
probably on average three or four so
that the eggs are much less they're
probably they have half
okay we're in the
fish section
these might be like sardines
are similar
um
looks like they like dried fish
could be this is carp
um
a lot of the slavic countries they like
tarp
i know czech republic does
paul won
not so much about
belarus or
russia but they do
[Music]
okay now for the food let's go to the
let's go to the liquor liquor and the
beer
see what kind of prices were we're gonna
get
[Music]
okay
[Music]
okay
so this is more imported right
what's the check where's the check
bearer
let's price that out i may not check her
but uh
bella russian
there's actually czech beer here
so you can get a czech liar the original
budweiser
two verbal is 85.
actually six rubles 89. that's actually
kind of high
it's like one
yeah it's like two
two dollars
katy you're not a beer drinker are you
you don't you don't know the right uh
bella russian beers
oh here we go here's a bill at russian
beer i recognize this
so you can get one beer
for one ripple 79 that's about 80 cents
that's a pretty good deal
it's four four point two percent
basically half a liter
that's not bad
it's not bad
zlati
this is
this looks like a czech beer
or maybe oh that's about the russian
so it's 449 that's
that's just under uh two dollars
okay oh look bud light
one can
three rubles nine that's about a dollar
twenty five
that's actually about what you get
in the states for
okay
so we got we got wine and hard liquor in
here so
let's see
you know bottle of chantel cantaloupe
it's out of france
it's 40
about 41 belarus so that's yeah that's
pretty cheap that's probably like
17 18 dollars
15.80
that's not bad
oh i've actually had this before
look to rosso
51.99 so it's probably about 20 bucks
it's not too bad
that might be 50 60 70 in the states
i could be wrong though
i'm not really a big wine drinker
see we go for white wine so what we got
here
go for a chablis
oh it's a little bit more expensive 124
rubles which is about
maybe about 50
30 alcohol
okay
let's go where the vodka is see what
that is
malibu
this is very popular in the states
59 rubles
this is probably 20 25
for the bottle
i don't know what it would be in the
states because i don't drink it
oh barofka
it's a czech uh lapor
would be like
20
or so
for a small
bottle um
oh
a lot of vodka here
finland commandia
see this is 45 rubles so this is about
20 20 20 us dollars for this
it's not bad
so
cody sark
pretty popular whiskey
65
rubles so that would be 25 or 30 us
dollars
i think that's on par oh jamison
triple distilled that'd be 95
rubles so that's
probably around 40 dollars
it's actually probably good i think
that's a good deal
makers mark whiskey
very popular
not that i drink it i don't like whiskey
so that's about
maybe like fifty dollars
fifty dollars in the states
oh then we got jack daniels single
barrel select
228
rubles
so that would be probably
probably under a hundred dollars
yeah it would be under a hundred dollars
probably like seven about eighty 80
dollars
okay
jim beam
86 for a large bottle
[Music]
probably like 30 dollars
okay
i think that's
i think that's everything i think we've
covered everything what do you think
okay
[Music]
so i just wanted to show everybody
that they have quick check out your
self-serve as well
it's likely at you know whole foods or
very modern here
okay there you have it guys
very modern grocery store in minsk
belarus
everything that
the us has more
just better prices
better prices so i hope you enjoyed this
video
