Glacier National Park's Grinnell Glacier Trail

i'm in montana a big land beneath a big sky and today i've got a big adventure in glacier national park [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right well we're gonna head up to the grinnell glacier and have a look so come on let's go all right we're on the trail let's see what we can find maybe we'll spot a bear but it's more likely that we're just going to spot a whole lot of tourists coming along the trail and it's opening up to the first big view of a big mountain pretty impressive just after that big mountain view is another good view this time with a lake plenty of saskatoon berries along the trail for a tasty and quick snack here's a look at the creek and josephine lake nice pretty color down there scenic vistas need a passing lane up here about 12 people passed me just then and i've passed about 24 just in the first half hour and when i say past them i mean pass them up blew right past them there's a first look at grinnell lake and the mountains behind it and now looking the other direction look at the beautiful color of that water and look at the beautiful backdrop behind it another look at that waterfall quite spectacular i think i'll ask some contractors if they can build this in my backyard just off to the side of the trail a nice little set of cascades and some pretty flowers to go with it [Applause] [Applause] even in a place of grand magnificence sometimes it's good just to look at the little details like the form in maidenhair ferns looks like a traffic jam up ahead a little waterfall right off into the trail fluffy little grasses [Applause] look at that turquoise water um and those nice mountains i am the wise grouse of the mountains you cannot see me i am blending so perfectly i don't even move watch me blink i don't even blink does the wise grouse know the way to the glacier oh wise grouse do you know the way he says keep going we're getting higher and higher up into the clouds and getting closer and closer to the glacier and the traffic is getting heavier and heavier it's the tourist gauntlet along the trail can we get through here's a little information all right we've reached the glacier the grinnell glacier it's grinnell not grinnell as somebody told me but it's grinnell and who's ready to go for a swim in that nice icy water look at these waterfalls too [Applause] cool and refreshing ah and beautiful just look at those icebergs all along the lake and in it sweet [Applause] and those waterfalls are pretty fantastic fantastic there's some people out there to give you the relative size of the glacier in the mountains all the way up to the top in the clouds here's a panoramic shot for you of grinnell glacier and the region around it from flowers to ice [Music] to sheer walls [Music] there's the glacier at the base of this mountain [Music] i hope you've enjoyed this five and a half mile hike up to grinnell glacier if you come to glacier national park the mountains aren't the only thing that's steep it'll cost you 35 bucks to get in if you don't have a pass and you can expect traffic and lots of it and crowded trails but as you can see what nature has created is beautiful and magnificent this is the rock happer you keep on subscribing and i'll keep taking you to excellent places like this till next time i'll see you again [Music] you
