Всем привет! It's Mila from Hacky Russian, and I'm here to help you learn Russian language
easy, fast and with lots of fun.
And today I'd like to share with you some of the funniest mistakes in Russian
from famous Hollywood movies.
And no, I'm not going to judge the accent of American actors,
because I perfectly understand that they don't speak Russian
and they just have to repeat several phrases or words in Russian
even though there are some actors who have actually done a very good job speaking Russian.
Привет, ребята! В чём дело? Отлично! Я ещё и русский знаю. Ни хера себе!
Просто оружие! Просто оружие!
Я милиционер! Я милиционер!
Что здесь, чёрт возьми, происходит?
Я гринку водил по борьбе с наркотиками.
Я только что спас этих заложников.
Не американцы?
And those who spoke Russian almost well. At least we can understand them.
And there were also some Hollywood movies, where actors were supposed to speak in Russian.
But, unfortunately, it seems like they spoke a completely different language,
because we cannot understand what they are saying without subtitles.
I love dogs.
You are just a bitch, Edson.
And this bitch is not.
What are you talking about?
I didn't hear a ******* word I said.
Dad, I'll fix everything, please.
You killed my best fighter. You cost me lots of money.
I'm not like that.
Your Russian is terrible.
But again, I'm not here to judge actors and their pronunciation.
The goal of this video is to show you some vocabulary and grammar mistakes in Russian.
Some terrible and ridiculous mistakes in Russian,
that I have seen in some really famous Hollywood movies.
It's like they found money to hire the best actors,
but they couldn't find money to hire a good Russian translator.
Or just any Russian person, because you don't need to be a translator to spot these mistakes.
But the problem is that they don't even care.
As long as it's written in Cyrillic, it's okay.
Even if it's just a mix of Russian letters that have no meaning at all.
Hey, Woods, you comprehend this Cyrillic crap?
Chicken scratches to me.
Well, if these are chicken scratches for you,
then you just haven't seen Russian cursive.
So, let's first look at the most obvious mistakes in Hollywood movies,
when they don't even try to use a Google translator
and just type Russian letters using the English keyboard.
Well, I believe that the most famous scene with a gibberish Russian
is from the movie The Bourne Identity.
Look, we can see that they just typed Russian letters
that corresponded to English letters on the keyboard.
Nice to meet you!
Would you like to see some more gibberish Russian?
Well, here you are.
In the movie Red Planet, one of the main characters finds a Russian probe on Mars.
But there is not enough electrical power to launch it,
and it seems like it has been heavily damaged.
Just look at this!
Is it like a secret code so that
extraterrestrials will not be able to understand what it means?
Well, in this case, they could just write it in cursive, right?
Okay, next comes the movie Rocky IV,
and the first thing that we see when they land to Russia is this.
Well, first of all, there is no such city as Krasnogurbinsk in Russia,
but that's fine.
What I don't understand is that word that is written just below.
And then we have a year.
Well, I believe probably it's like a year.
Then we have T, I don't know why.
Well, normally it should be G, like if it was founded in this year.
So instead of writing
it should be written
And then we need to have a letter G,
which means
So it doesn't mean anything.
Oh, I love that! Look!
And now let's watch and analyze the funniest mistakes in Russian from Hollywood movies.
And they're mostly about the incorrect usage of vocabulary and grammar.
Okay, let's continue to analyze some mistakes in Russian from a movie Rocky IV.
Can you spot a mistake here?
They actually use this word with each round.
But раз doesn't mean a round.
Actually, it's very easy.
A round in Russian is
just like in English.
And they took a translation of the word time.
One time, two times, three times, and so on.
But we cannot use this word here.
The word раз is used when we speak about the frequency of doing something.
Like, for example,
So it looks really funny here.
Do you remember this wonderful speech that Rocky gave in the end of the battle?
He said
And let's agree that by 20 millions he meant 20 million people, right?
But the problem is that the person who was translating his speech into Russian
made it look less impressive.
I think that is even better than 20 million dollars.
What?
Man, he didn't speak about money!
So, for Russian speakers, he actually said
This guy totally spoiled that wonderful speech.
In the movie The Iron Man, they are showing Russian news on the TV.
But there are so many things that make Russian people laugh about this.
The only correct phrase here is a headline
The top news.
All the rest is just insane.
Look at this.
What was it supposed to mean?
What did they want to say by this?
Maybe they wanted to say
Like, watch the news with your eyes.
I don't know, but, like, this is really crazy.
Then I cannot really see what's written there.
Well, it seems like it's written
Can someone explain me what it means?
If they wanted to write a verb, well, it could be something like
But we can only guess what they wanted to say by this.
The last one I've seen is that they wrote
Yes, ТЕПЕРЬ also means now, but it cannot be used in this context.
ТЕПЕРЬ can be used when we compare the past actions with the present actions.
And here we just want to say that something is happening at the moment.
So it's better to use
Hello, madam!
Well, only Russian speakers knew that the greatest villain in the movie Iron Man
was actually a woman.
Look, it's written
which is a feminine form of the adjective Russian.
So, actually, they had to write
if he was really a man, well, now I doubt it.
But the movie that gets a prize for the biggest number of mistakes made in Russian
is definitely a movie Get Smarter.
Did you have the time to spot all the mistakes?
Well, probably not.
Let's look at this.
Well, they probably tried to translate the keyboard,
but the keyboard is not
It is
And машинка is a typewriter.
A typewriter.
So the correct version is
Пожалуйста, напечатайте пароль на клавиатуре.
Another proof that they used a Google translator is this phrase
So if I translate it in English,
it will be the analysis of the seal or a print.
So it doesn't make any sense
and I believe that they wanted to translate the phrase
which is in Russian
Отпечаток is a fingerprint.
I refuse to comment on this because this is just terrible.
A journal is inside.
What? What does it mean?
Дарёный доступ.
Well, система доступная.
I believe that they wanted to translate the system is available.
Well, I guess that they wanted to translate that the access is given,
but дарёный means given as a gift.
So the correct version should be
And this crazy
Yeah, sure, we speak like this.
I assure you that we also say just
Shipments of explosives.
Did you hear it right?
Okay, let's have a look what explosives we have here.
Автошины.
Here we are, finally.
And what is written there?
What is that?
That is definitely something illegal.
Okay, the next mistakes are from the TV series 12 Monkeys.
You see how important it is to speak Russian language.
If you go to Russia and you need bleach,
you won't be able to get it if you don't know how it's called in Russian.
It is
But of course, it's not the mistake from this scene.
The mistake is that the girl said
to a complete stranger
No, if you don't know people, you should say
but not
And here is the next mistake from this TV series.
It's like a nightmare of every Russian teacher.
No, it's not
because
No, we don't say it like this.
in a genitive case
In the movie Virus, an American crew finds a Russian research vessel,
and of course, everything is written in Russian.
But with some mistakes.
немец, японец, итальянец, испанец
These are the names of nationalities, not of the language.
It should be written
And what is this?
What is it?
And this flag?
What country is this?
Or is it an alien language?
Let's now watch an excerpt from the movie James Bond from Russia with love.
Do you see these words written on the door?
There is
which is probably to pull
and
which is probably to push
But the problem is that there are no such words in Russian language,
and both of these doors are actually opening in the same direction.
So it's kind of weird.
The correct words will be
In the movie Redhead, there are many dialects in Russian,
but this one is simply the best.
Well, no, there is no ending in this word.
Just
Not
A shark that does not swim drowns.
What does that mean?
Well, if it was supposed to be a Russian proverb,
I have to disappoint you.
It is not.
We don't have such a proverb.
Well, there is a saying with a similar meaning.
It's like
By the way, I have found another Russian proverb in the movie Batman against Superman.
The correct version of this proverb is
It's like
It's too early to know who of us will laugh last.
Another funny thing that I have noticed in Hollywood movies with Russian characters
is that they have to add swear words everywhere, in every speech,
no matter whether it's necessary,
whether it's appropriate in this particular context or not.
They have to swear.
It gives an impression that Russian people swear all the time.
And it's funny to see that Americans are using really strong Russian swear words,
while someone who is playing a Russian character is saying this.
These are the words that you will most probably hear from a Russian babushka
or from kids in a kindergarten.
But not from a big Russian man.
By the way, if you want to learn how to swear in Russian,
just watch a movie Driving to Kill with Steven Seagal,
because his character is swearing non-stop the whole movie.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video,
and if you did, don't forget to like it and leave a comment below.
