Riding Mount Robson to Prince Rupert along Northern British Columbia's Route 16 with motorcycle enthusiast Theo Birkner.
When you boil it down to the essence of motorcycling, it's one of adventure and exploration.
You know, if you're not a motorcyclist, you just don't quite get it, but anyone who's ever ridden
a motorbike will totally understand what I'm saying. I just think it's an avenue to fun and adventure.
I'm Theo Berkner and I love to get out on adventures as much as I possibly can. Route 16 is
the lifeblood of what one would call northern British Columbia. It slices through B.C. from
east to west with all these little out-and-back offshoots that not only make for great motorcycling,
there's also all this cultural engagement and history. It is the highway that binds the
communities of northern B.C. together. Being from Vancouver and being somebody who is absolutely
in love with the mountains and the sea, that transition from the Canadian Rockies and Mount
Robson to coastal mountainous terrain to Prince Rupert is something that just hits home with me
like nothing else. It's interesting when you start thinking about the communities that you ride
through. I mean, you truly meet a complete and utter cross-section of all types of people and
being just nice, engaging, proud members of their community, wanting to share that with
passers-by. And as long as you ride a bike, it's like you're friends for life.
It's just such a beautiful road and to be able to ride a bike through that and show friends,
that is priceless.
