First day in the Netherlands. It's got
to go better than the last day in the
Netherlands. Desiree, our wonderful
friend, is taking us to uh find a couple
replacement things. We're not going to
get much, but just enough to survive for
the next couple months.
>> Like the Netherlands. Lovely though.
>> Where do we go? Where do we go from
here?
>> Katie heading off to see your first
Dutch grocery store. You can get these
little thingies and scan all your own
groceries and not have to worry about
going to the checkout. Pringles has
passport flavors. Guess where these ones
are from. Got to stop cuz the bridge is
going up. There's a lot of bridges here.
Definitely.
>> The weather's a little wonky today.
Supposed to be better tomorrow. Desire
is going to take us on a super tour of
Leiden tomorrow. We're going to do
Amsterdam in a couple days. Why am I
telling you what we're going to do? I
don't know. Anyways, peace. Exploring
Leiden, Netherlands with our wonderful
friend Desiree, who's showing us all
around the town today. We got our stuff
sorted. We're just traveling lighter
from now on. It was sunny. Hey, I swear
to God it was sunny just like 20 minutes
ago.
>> You snooze, you lose. Gramps.
>> And the buses are tap on, tap off, so
you didn't have to get a card. Just tap
our phones on without the bank.
>> And don't forget to check out
>> top tips. Don't forget to tap out when
you leave.
>> And if there was any doubt, we were in
the Netherlands. There you go.
[Music]
>> Hi there. Welcome to Leon. I'm showing
Chris and Katie around in this pretty
pretty little town.
>> We have the best tour guide. We do.
>> We met her on the Great Wall of China
like what six years ago,
>> I think. So, 2018,
>> whenever that was.
>> We were the only two We were the only
two groups way the heck down away from
everybody else,
>> man. Every place we go just gets more
adorable. The Netherlands is gorgeous.
Katie, you got big wooden sandals. Wait,
big wooden clogs. What are those? But
there's cheese over here.
You girls have fun. I'll just be here
with the cheese. Just me and the cheese.
The Netherlands is beautiful. How did it
take us so long to get here?
[Music]
[Music]
Got a little shopping done. Fiddled out.
Finished out the fiddled. Finished off
the wardrobe. Now we're checking out the
old town.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
Leen, Netherlands is definitely getting
our vote for one of the most charming
towns we've been to.
[Music]
Since we got here to the Netherlands, I
realized how much I rely on Katie's hair
color to find her in a crowd. Cuz
normally in the even on the Camino and
up there, there weren't a lot of
blondes. That is not an effective way.
here. I've lost her like three times
already cuz there's just blondes
everywhere. So, I have to develop a new
system.
>> Have you seen a woman?
We're going to Dez's favorite
restaurant, Fondu. So, this is the
ultimate local recommendation. Of
course, the first course is the coffee.
>> Hey, cookies.
>> Oh, that's good coffee.
>> Those Dutch butter cookies are way
better in the Netherlands.
>> Yeah, those are really good.
>> All right. How's your cappuccino there,
little girl?
>> It is fantastic.
>> Coffee milk is condensed milk. That's
awesome.
>> So, a note about the condensed milk in
the Netherlands. Don't be fooled. That
is not like the condensed milk
everywhere else. That stuff is terrible.
Dez warned us. We didn't listen. Always
listen to your local guide.
>> We've got our Dutch platter.
M.
>> Those are good.
>> Dez said this is like the most Dutch
thing we can get. It's called a bitter
ball.
>> They're fantastic. It reminds me of
mashed potatoes, but not really.
>> But it's meat based, right?
>> Meat based.
>> Yeah.
>> Bye.
>> Dez gets thumbs up. That's us for the
rest of the day. We'll catch you uh from
Amsterdam tomorrow. Oh, no. We got some
of those tomorrow. Her daughter is going
to swim in the canals. So, of course,
we're going to go,
>> I guess, applaud,
>> make fun of, cheer, you know, whatever.
But
>> heading back to the house for the day.
Look at all those bikes.
[Music]
>> We'll see you tomorrow morning, Skully.
Bright and early.
[Music]
>> We are not taking part in this, but they
have the local canal swim every year for
charity. All these folks are swimming in
the canals.
[Music]
Desire's middle daughter is one of these
that's swimming. It's 800 meters. It's
cold.
>> She said she's not even wearing a swim
cap.
>> We're all just standing here watching.
This one's getting in the cold water.
>> Why are you doing this?
>> Because it's for charity and I like it.
>> What's your charity? Um, for people who
are paralyzed.
[Music]
>> Excellent charity. You're very brave.
You're very hungry. You're very awesome.
And you love Oregon.
>> Yeah.
>> Stella, what's the deal?
>> Well, the guy is telling them that they
need to jump carefully in the water
because it's very dangerous to die
because there are bikes and other stuff
inside of the kennel.
>> So, it's like an obstacle course.
>> Yeah, a little bit. Yeah.
Fight
and
[Music]
>> there she is.
Never underestimate the value of a good
pool noodle in an emergency situation.
Apparently the fastest finishers finish
in like 8 minutes. Other people take
about 30. I'm really glad it's them and
not us. It looks like a lot of fun.
Whole lot more fun out here on the
shore.
[Music]
Woo! Goes!
[Music]
>> You got to take time to appreciate how
gorgeous this little city is. Oh no, she
drank the water.
>> Don't drink fountain water. So if she
turns into a creature, that's why
it's
>> this has been a blast. We are just going
to go out and enjoy the festival here.
Probably catch up with you tomorrow from
Amsterdam.
>> But wait, there's more.
>> What are we doing now?
>> Uh but looking at is her hockey game,
field hockey obviously.
>> And to be clear, this is the same day
that she swam in the canal.
>> Definitely.
>> There she is playing goalie. We're the
orange team. The yellow team are evil.
They're from the other town. They're
invaders. Of special note, the team
we're rooting for is the team in orange
and black since Oregon plays Oregon
State today. It's a little difficult for
me, but we'll go ahead and root for him
in this game and then later tonight
flip. Congratulations to the team
wearing black and orange, but that's the
last time we'll be celebrating black and
orange for the day. So, great job. I
said we were done for the day. That's
not entirely true. We're going to the
hospital so we can try and replace
Katie's medication.
>> They stole it from us.
>> She doesn't take it. She just kind of
stops waking up. That's not good.
>> And I hope whoever stole that pen enjoys
it in hell.
>> I was able to get my medication. It was
It's such a relief to be able to just
walk in. It was €17 for 3 months worth
of medication.
>> Less than 20 bucks. That is amazing.
They were so nice. This place is really
cool.
>> Yet another reason to love the
Netherlands.
>> Yep.
>> We are out at a lovely local event in
Zotoa. Having a blast. We just wanted to
let everybody know it is really touching
how many people reach out to us publicly
and privately. We're good to go. We're
fine. All we lost was our stuff. Uh
we're safe. We're fine. We We're
actually happy to be traveling lighter.
So, uh we don't have uh we don't have as
much stuff to wear when we watch Ducks
games, but we're doing fantastic. Thank
you all so much. Really touching
>> and uh let us know how much we were
loved. I mean, we already knew, but now
we know even more. M
>> keep drinking this coffee.
>> Leave the thumbs up and subscribe. Oh,
>> no. That was good.
>> That was good. That was good.
