Well howdy howdy and welcome back to another episode of Fishing with Courage. It has been a minute
but it is the Easter weekend. We're in the boat with the old boy. We've just got eight pots in,
that's the last one we put in. Now we've got some lures on, we've got a paddle tail, he's got a
BCT Dirty Prawno on, and we're going to see if we can extract something out of these mangroves.
We will see how we go, but the kids will be down in a couple hours with the wife,
so we'll go back to the hut and have a good family weekend. We'll bring you along for it.
I'll see you when there's a bit of action.
Alrighty, we flicked for probably half an hour and we live baited for half an hour to no avail.
A couple of little touches. It's been about an hour and a half I suppose all up
and we're going to run these pots and see how we did.
See if there is any mud spiders about.
There is one. Let's hope he's a fully. We will check him. He's definitely sized.
Looks a little bit light on in colour, but we'll see. Come on, get off it fella.
Hey buddy.
Hear that? He is as empty as they come. He is a big crab. Give us that measure just so I can show
them. He'd be a centimetre over I reckon. Yeah, look at that. Good centimetre over, but we don't
keep them empty even though it's Easter. See you buddy. Someone else will probably catch him and
keep him, but it ain't us. Alrighty, pot number two. One legal crab so far, but he was empty.
Pretty much straight down.
Nothing. Not a darn thing. It's only been an hour and a half. That's all right.
Pot number three. Nothing to keep as of yet. Too small. Oh well, you're not going to eat much.
You'll be right. All right, pot number five. No crabs yet, but we haven't been out for long.
Should have probably snuck out here yesterday and put them in, but that is all right. If you know
Townsville, you know where we are. Just trying a little bit different here.
Let's see if the crabs are out here on the neap tides.
The wind has picked up. Nothing the boys can't handle. Sorry about the audio.
Don't know yet. I think we're going to keep going that way.
No, I got it now. I got it. Rusty. Look little but.
They look little. Very rusty, but.
He's touching, and the other one's bigger.
That is a fat little crab. He's good too.
They are two fat little crabs.
Easter feed sorted. Curries are eating well. Curries and friends. Kiddos. Kenna, you having crab?
Oh, well bugger you then. It's the first time she's ever said she don't want crab.
Time to get it dudes. Are you having fun bud? Oh, you want to go riding again?
Do you want to go ride the bike?
Yeah boys. We did all right. We did all right. The kids have had a ball.
They've been riding their bikes, and we got what we came for.
Well, good morning. It is now Easter Saturday. The old fella's got first night fever. I had a few
cups, but I feel all right. The old fella's got first night fever, so I've got absolutely nobody
in the boat with me today. The kids are still sleeping. We're actually doing our Easter Sunday
today, so I'm just going to quickly check the pot, and then we're going to set up an Easter egg hunt
and everything for the kids, and they should get up about eight o'clock and have an awesome day.
We're going to take them over to Alligator Creek swimming hole over the other side. Take them for a
swim, but I'll bring you along for the adventure. I hope yous are enjoying it. A bit more of a family
orientated one, but yeah, I'll see yous while we're out there. Just about to start the motor
and go for a little mishawn. Good morning. See yous out there.
Get in. How bloody beautiful is the land we live in.
I love a good sunrise on the water.
Oh, from the trip over, but we have our first pot in coming. See how we did. See if we extracted
any out of the mangroves and the water.
Hello, Mr. Pot.
And we'll chuck him in the neutral, and let's see what we got.
I see a crab. I see two crabs. Give him a bit of a wash.
One legal, two legal, three legal, four legal. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. What we gonna do?
Oh, my God. Why so many food?
One of them's a possible. One of them's definitely too small, which is this fella,
and it's a Jenny. She goes back. I think this fella might be just under.
That's all right. We got some good contenders in there. He's under.
Nearly the rest of them are going to be legal. Just depends whether they're full.
Come here, buddy.
Oh, he is a mil under that fella.
This fella might be too, actually. Might only be the two. It's all right.
I think this fella's a little bit under two. My eyes deceived me to start with. I was a bit
excited. The old morning eyes, eh? This fella looks a little bit tiny too. Stay there, Pot.
Yeah, I think he's small. Yep. These two will be good. These two will be good.
And he's got good color on him. That fella will probably be coming in the coffin. Easily legal
and nice and full. I'll crab cuff him once he cools down a little bit.
And I think this fella's even a little bit bigger again. Two out of the first put. Not going too
bad. Easily legal and chockers. Checking on the belly. Chockers. Go in there with your mate.
I'll reset you, bud. I'll set this one back where I set it. So let's just leave his rolling.
Let's get some food each. All right. Bait on the bottom. Pot in the water.
Rope in the water. Next pot. Let's go.
Oh, this one might be tangled up on something. Or a crocodile. The bloody got it.
She snagged up. There we go. We got her. We got her. Here she comes. And I see crabs.
I see a couple of good crabs. Yep. That one's got a bit of fishtail in his mouth. That is a
stonker. Two more stonkers. Hey, look at that, boys and girls. That is a nice sized couple of crabs.
So use them in me hand so you can get a bit of a
size comparison. These ones don't need to be measured, but we will measure them just for
legal purposes. Come on. Out that hole, bud. Thank you. Thank you. That is a bloody good crab.
Look at him. Oh, yeah. Look at that. He is a good centimeter and a bit over. That's a good one.
Get in the coffin. And this one's just as good. Don't know if he's as full, though.
What else? Oh, what am I tipping you out to the bait for, bud? Sorry, mate. It is early morning
on a Saturday. Now, that fella there. Holy. But he's only a V grade.
Wow. Look at the size of him. He's two centimeters over.
But listen, no, he's no curry. Don't take any empty crabs. So that fella,
I'll see you in a week, hopefully, if no one else gets you in between.
See you later, big fella. I'll even give you, he's been in the wars with that other fella by
the look. He's got a bit of a chomp nipper and he's lost a swimmer, so I'll let him go easily.
See you, fella. Breaks your heart when they're empty like that and that big, but
no point taking an empty crab. You probably would have got a sanger out of him. He wasn't
completely empty, but I'd rather let someone else catch him when he's full or catch him again
myself when he's full. I don't know if he's, but in saying that, in saying that, I'm resetting
this pot. If he gets a feed up overnight, it's a bit harder tomorrow. Like I said,
he wasn't completely empty. If he's there tomorrow, he might come home.
Three crabs out of two pots so far. See yous on the next one.
Nah, let's go roll.
We're rolling.
We're rolling, boys. There it is.
Coming in hot. Too hot. Too hot to try. Turn that off so you don't have to listen to that
because it's even annoying me. Let's see how this one did, boys. Oh, it is full of crabs.
Little ones, but I can see crabs. Oh, you're kidding. How many have we got in there?
One legal, maybe, maybe two legals.
Hard work, this stuff, when you just keep catching them, eh?
We got eight for yesterday. We already got three for today.
All right, that's enough to sort for now. Stay there, pot. What have we got?
I think they're all under them ones. See you, boys. I think they might all be under, actually.
Getting a better look at them. Them ones are definitely worth a measure.
Oh, he is on. Is he full? He's full. Oops, pot just fell back in the water, boys.
If the top was done up, it wouldn't have mattered, but it wasn't.
I think he's too small. Yeah, he's too small by a mil or two.
Get him back. I might move this one up a bit just because there were so many small crabs around.
And off to the last pot. Give him up 100 meters.
Get a pot up at a gutter, then I'm going back for Easter with the kiddos.
All right, let's go get this last one.
And here we are. Reverse back out a little and neutral. Oh, she feels heavy.
Oh, that's why it feels heavy. Holy! That is a donk. Two, three, four of bagged out.
Should have brought someone with me. All right, that's why I set it there.
He's good all day. Hard as a rock. Under. Codley can go back. Yeah, Codley can go back.
Here's Donkosaurus. Holy! Come here, Donkosaurus.
Come here, Donkosaurus. That's the crab of the weekend, I reckon, that fella.
He's a good two centimeters over as well.
Get in there for a sec, bud. Oh, there's another Donkosaurus in here.
There's two. Two Donkisauruses.
Oh, he's hard too. Yeah, baby. That's six. If this one's legal, we bagged out on our four pots,
so not too slabby. Not too slabby. You can just... What do I got to put down in there?
Should have crab cuffed them. They're gonna fight, man.
And this fella's legal, so that's our bag out. You're kidding. That is our bag out, boys.
Well, I might quickly go throw a lure, since that was so successful.
And then I'll get back to the... I'll see you when I hook up, if I hook up.
Solo this morning, so could only bring seven back. And what did he do? He bought seven back.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Just waiting for him to chill out a bit. I'll crab
cuff him, just because I'm being lazy. A little bit hung over. A few sippy cups last night, but
we got eight yesterday. Seven already today, and it's not even eight o'clock in the bloody morning.
Eight crabs didn't last long around these thudder holes. That's last night's efforts.
We got about the same feed today. More family coming down. How good is North Queensland?
We're right back down for a swim. There was a lot of people down there. I didn't know,
so I didn't want to film, but just come down to the Alligator Creek swimming area. It was
nice and cold, I'll tell you, but it was a good time. I'll see you when we're checking the pots
and having a flick. We got the crew on here. We got the kids, and we've got the ultimate pro.
He's the biggest kid of them all, but it is Easter.
Got to get the kids involved. We got the younger brother.
