This may help you discover the best way to approach the Sydney Bridge. The walk over the top on steps, to get a certificate and fill your ego, but not be allowed a camera or anything to take. Or climb via the tower, so, so, much cheaper and better views, no rush, and take your camera. See for yourself. Jean Films

there were approximately
six million rivets used in making the
bridge
in the 1920s welding was too unreliable
and nuts and bolts were quite expensive
so rivets were used if you're wondering
why people walk all the way around to
mrs macquarie's point
this is why the botanic gardens is 84
square
acres and access is free and we hope you
can get onto the harbour bridge from
them
it certainly got us up above circular
key
we've got a great view of that but
there's an elevator which we missed
[Applause]
i genuinely am excited by this
[Music]
if you pay a lot of money you can walk
up there
like they're doing if you decide to take
this bridge walk there's a very strict
alcohol test before you do it the bridge
is 1149 metres
including approach span we're at the
pylon entrance and we're climbing up for
some spectacular views
it cost 10 million
57 150 pounds seven shillings and nine
pence to build halfway up the pile and
there's an exhibition about the
construction of the bridge
the arch is 134 metres above sea level
and the pylon is 89 meters above sea
level
so we've just climbed 89 meters
[Music]
we're at the top of the pylon on sydney
harbour bridge
and it was worth the climb the view's
spectacular
the bridge was completed in 1932 and it
was all
done without the aid of safety harnesses
when the bridge was being built 128
high back cables restrained part
finished arches
these cables reached 365 meters long
70 millimeters in diameter 8.6 tons in
weight
and made up of 217 individual wires
you can see the pedestrian walkway and
we're going to complete our journey in a
minute
on the other side of the bridge is a
residential area and i bet the
apartments cost a pretty penny
so we came up over there just by the
queen elizabeth
notwithstanding they were brilliant
views all the way around we could have
just come up
here
the lift you're looking for is at the
back of the glenmore hotel
