Bonjour! We are slowly settling into fall here in our home in the French countryside. In this video I am taking you with me to a vide grenier and to some chores around our home as we get the garden ready for winter and fix a few issues that come with living like this in the countryside of France! Thanks for your support and comments! Love, Marloes BECOME A PATRON to support my work and see a preview of my next book! https://patreon.com/FrenchCountryLife
I think our life here in the French
countryside looks very idyllic most of
the time and it is most of the time and
don't Get me wrong, I will be forever
grateful that Olaf and I have been able
to create this life for ourselves and
for our family. That we've taken all the
risks, that we've done things other
people might not do, that we've left
everything behind, that we've left a
very successful business, all those
things to start a new life here in
France. And there are so many beautiful
and good things about our life here. But
it also has the reality of needing to
deal with issues. We have a septic tank
and we have an extra pump for the cabin.
And on Olaf's birthday, actually this
summer, we had an issue with that pump
for the cabin. And on his birthday on a
Sunday morning at 7:00, we were
literally scooping out, I will spare the
details, but you get the visual, the
entire pump reservoir for that because
it was blocked and we spent about 3
hours fixing that. I am so grateful to
have a husband who knows how to fix
things. I don't know how he knows how to
do things, but he always finds
solutions. We could not have this
business. We could not live this life.
We could not have built all of this
without his incredible skill and his
perseverance and his determination to
figure things out. And then recently we
had an issue with our big septic tank.
We noticed in the evening we were having
dinner outside and Odo said, "What's
that noise?" I didn't hear anything. I'm
so grateful for him. And he noticed
something and said, "Something's wrong
with the septic tank." And we spend an
hour in the dark trying to figure it
out. We couldn't find it. And so Olaf
spent another four hours or so very
early the next morning to fix everything
because our rentals were booked. People
need to be able to use the bathroom.
None of our guests even ever noticed
anything was wrong because we were
fixing it, you know, as soon as we can.
And that's just the reality of living
this kind of life. And I am not
complaining. But I do think that
even I maybe when we moved here did not
realize what it takes to live like this.
We're not remote out in the country at
all. We live in a village with lots of
life or 25 minutes from Boone or one
hour from a couple of big cities, but
our our house itself and the property
just take a lot of work and a lot of
maintenance. And I just wanted to keep
it real with you and show that as well.
But you know, all in all, this kind of
life, having the sounds of nature all
around me, having this view first thing
when I wake up in the morning, sitting
here in my wonderful garden with the cat
that found our home one day and decided
she wanted to live with us. I mean, I
would never trade this for anything
else.
We are welcoming fall here in our
farmhouse in the French countryside of
Burgundy
after a very hot and dry summer. We've
had quite some rain in the past weeks
and I couldn't be happier because all my
flowers are thriving. I have had to wait
so long for my cosmos to bloom. All my
dalas are blooming. I so enjoy my
garden. I do not like gardening. I hate
it to be honest. But I'm always so
grateful for all the beauty that it
gives us. But we really need to do a
final cleanup to welcome fall. So Olaf
is tackling cutting all the grass. And I
am going to cut all the edges. It's just
going to give us a little workout in the
garden today.
There are actually still some vit here
and there in the late summer and early
fall. This one is in Arneluk and it was
actually quite a nice one. I found my
wonderful little tumblers, Diguan Brown
stoneware tumblers and a couple of stone
wear vases.
Yeah.
New York.
Hold
on.
>> Where is he?
I don't know.
>> Hey
Yeah, slow get
you here.
