A big part of this move is getting used to leaning in to your outside edges. So the outside wheels
of both skates, you're crossing your legs. You can keep these pretty locked to feel secure and
definitely bend into it. But you're going to be leaning in to outside edges. So if my right is in
the front, I'm leaning into the outside edge and I'm going to slide on that outside edge.
And that's going to make me curve. So I'm going to lean into the front, lean onto that edge.
Now I'm going to lean into the back on the outside edge. Now I'm going to lean into the front,
outside, back, outside. With my left crossed over the front. So this back foot is the main one that
I'm putting weight on and I'm going to put weight on the outside edge. I'm also going to slide so
I'm going to move my body in the direction I'm going. Now I'm going to lean into the front skate
on the outside edge. Again, my whole body is turning in the way I want to go. Lock the legs,
lean into the outside edge of the back foot and shift. It's like you're placing them.
So now I'm going to place this one because most of the weight's on the back. I'm going to place
the front. Now I'm going to be on the front foot. I'm going to push into the outside edge and I'm
going to place the back. Replace the front, replace the back. Everything's about the body shifting
from here to here. And the hips, you can really use the hips to move you because if you don't
want to lift up the feet each time, you're going to have to really dig into the body to make you move.
It helps to get low and to attach your legs to give you support to do this movement.
And really use your body. Leaning into the back outside edge
and replacing the front. Leaning into the front outside edge, replacing, replacing,
replacing. Now if you don't want to pick up the feet, you're going to move into the body more.
There's going to be very little weight in the foot that is not the main stabilizing foot
in order to move. And the more you get used to being on that outside edge, you'll see that if
you push into an outside edge, you're going to automatically start to curve. So that's where
the movement going backwards comes from because you're curving on that outside edge.
And then you can do it from a front snake. Out, back,
back.
