So I got a bunch of 65-70 spine 11/32“ shafts, some 125 tips and cut some 6 inch fletching.
The final arrow comes in at about 505 grain, just shy of the 10 gpp recommended minimum arrow weight. I would have likes them to be a little heavier, to accommodate the long limbs and handshock.
The dynamic spine I great, and Arrow fly as intended. So overall a succes.
Righto, so I've been making some arrows for my new longbow and before making a whole bunch of them
I'm going to test this one out to see how well it flies. So my backyard practice area is only 12
meters, not quite enough to actually evaluate arrow flight because it hasn't got time to
probably straighten out. So when I fire it I can't really see if it goes left or right
and I really want to do that so I've taken out here to the sports area that's just a few
hundred meters from where I live so I can try out this longer distance. So I have this target set up
success. The arrow flies good, flies straight. So the spine is good, the dynamic spine.
So the flex is just enough, not too little and the combination of tip weight and fletching
works well. The only thing I wish would have been better, I would have liked 100 grain more
so I had to find some thicker shafts to carry some more weight. But the overall test was a success
and I'm gonna be making a whole bunch of these to get some more into English longbow archery.
See you around!
