И давайте начнём! Поехали!
First of all, before you introduce yourself, you need to first greet everyone.
This is why I will show you Russian formal and informal ways of greeting.
Let's start with the informal ones.
Of course, you know Привет!
Hello!
Informal.
Number two is Здорово.
This is a very casual way to say hello.
Usually, it is used between men.
It's something like Hey in English.
And it's informal, of course.
This is a short form of Здравствуйте.
But you can use Здрасте only in informal situations.
Now, let's talk about formal greetings.
Let's begin with Здравствуйте.
Very, very formal hello.
Good morning.
Good day or good afternoon.
Good evening.
Obviously, if it is an interview, you would use only formal greetings.
Number two is, of course, saying your name.
Informal or formal.
Or also, you can say your last name in very formal situations.
Then, you can say your age.
I'm 32 years old.
If you want, you can talk about your marital status.
If you're a man, I'm married.
If you're a woman, I'm married as well.
I have two kids.
I have a daughter.
I have a son.
Next step is to say where are you from originally.
I am from...
And here comes a country or a city of your birth.
In English, when you name a country or a city, nothing changes in the word structure.
But in Russian, in this situation, you have to use the genitive case.
So, for example, if you are from India, in English, you will say I am from India.
Nothing changes.
In Russian, you have to change it to genitive case.
So, я is I am from.
Nominative is Индия.
Nominative is a word like you see it in a dictionary.
Индия.
But in this context, you have to change Индия to genitive case.
And it will become Индии.
Я is Индии.
I'm from India.
If you are from London, you will say Я is Лондона.
Лондон.
Nominative will become Лондона in genitive case.
Or you can say Where were you born?
Я родился в Англии.
I was born in England.
Or Я родился и вырос в Италии.
I was born and raised in Italy.
If you want to say that you were born in one place, but now you live in another,
you should say, for example, Я родился в Испании, а сейчас живу в России.
In case you want to mention your nationality, you should say Я and your nationality.
Я means I am and your nationality.
For example, Я англичанин.
I'm an Englishman.
Or Я индиец.
I'm an Indian.
If you're a woman, you will say Я испанка, for example, or Я канатка.
If you want to say how much do you live in a place you live right now, you should say
Я живу в Москве два месяца.
I've been living in Moscow for two months.
Or Я уже год живу в Киеве.
I've been living in Kyiv for one year.
Я уже пять лет живу в Минске.
I've been living in Minsk for five years.
Here you can see that I changed the names of the cities in prepositional case,
because prepositional case answers to question where – где.

If you're at the university and you haven't graduated yet, you will say,
for example, Я учусь на экономическом факультете.

Я учусь в МГУ.
MGU is Moscow State University.

I'm in my last year at MGIMO in the Faculty of International Relations.
Я только окончил masculine or окончила feminine университет.
I just graduated.

The last two years, I have been doing business.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
The most important thing in learning a language is to do things that you're afraid to do,
that you're too shy to do.
You need to force yourself in a way.
But believe me, if you do so, you will become fluent in any language you want.
