A winter storm will bring accumulating snow on Tuesday.
This is a 22 News Storm Team weather
alert.
>> Good afternoon. I'm Storm Team
meteorologist Alexa Biano live in
Westfield. We are seeing blue skies out
there. Also, let me move on to this
side. You can see the breezy conditions
from the flags. The wind gusts are going
to be on the stronger side today. So,
forecast focus, bright, brisk, and
breezy is the trend today. We are in a
winter storm watch for tomorrow. And we
do see a big significant cool down by
the end of the week as well.
temperatures right now 41 in Springfield
which I overestimated those temperatures
underestimate those temperatures today.
Didn't think we'd get into the 40s but
39 Northampton 39 Westfield 40 in
Greenfield 38 in Orange and 34 in
Pittsfield. So high temp wind gust for
today we are seeing them ramp up
continuously throughout the day still
that's going to make the wind chill
definitely on the cooler side. So we're
going to feel about 10 to 15 degrees
cooler than what the actual air
temperature is. Even though the air
temperatures in the upper 30s, lower
40s, could feel more in the 20s or lower
30s especially. But they'll start to
calm down by the time we get toward
later on today. But for now, for the
afternoon, we're definitely going to see
that 20 to 25 range. Clouds and radar,
we are seeing mainly clear conditions
here for southern New England. We're
seeing some flurries in upstate New
York, but that's staying away from us
for right now because we do see that
system coming in much later. But high
temperatures for today, we're right
around that ballpark we were talking
about. to 41 Springfield, 40 in
Westfield, 39 in Greenfield, 38 in
Orange, and 29 in Pittsville. But
looking towards that winter storm watch
that is in effect till 7 a.m. tomorrow
morning until 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
And this is for everybody. We're seeing
it for the Brookers, Pioneer Valley, as
well as central Massachusetts, even some
parts of the eastern side of the state
getting close to it. For the rest of the
afternoon, we're dry. We're clear. We're
seeing plenty of sunshine. It's the calm
before the storm. We could still see a
few passing clouds by 4:00 this
afternoon. By 9:00, this is when we
start to slowly but surely see more
cloud coverage roll through. We're
cloudy overnight, getting us ready for
the system we're going to be seeing
tomorrow morning. So, by 6 a.m., west of
91, even more mainly the Pioneer Valley
here, you're going to be starting to see
some light snow come in. Then, it's
pretty much widespread as we get towards
the rest of the morning, especially by
11:00 a.m. We're widespread at this
point. We're seeing that sleet along the
night 495. So, the more north you go,
we're going to see that snow. The more
south you go, we're going to see more of
that rain. And this does continue. It's
going to be messy for the commute. So,
just keep that in mind. Give yourself
enough time. It mainly clears out by the
time we get towards 11:00 tomorrow
night. But we are seeing about 3 to 7
ines in these areas. So, around
Birkshares, northern Franklin County,
and 1 to three for the southern Pioneer
Valley. Of course, the higher elevation
places are going to see more of that
storm coming along pretty much for the
rest of the day. So, 38 to 42 is your
range of highs today. Bright, brisk, and
breezy. And then your lows, increasing
clouds. 16 to 20 is your range of lows
for today. And then here's the 202 team
7-day forecast. So, mostly sunny, 30s
for today, breezy storm watch tomorrow.
Wednesday, partly sunny, mo mostly
cloudy on Thursday with windy
conditions. Mostly sunny on Friday. And
then we're seeing a big cool down
heading into Friday and then back into
the 30s by Saturday and Sunday with a
few shower chances as well. Stay upate
with the forecast on the 22s app. Return
