After digging under the stairs in my parents basement, I found the complete set of clubs I used to get my Canadian Tour card in 2007 with! Enjoy this walk through the bag and a few holes putting the old clubs back in play. I used a FlightScope Mevo in this video, if you want 50$ off your very own FlightScope Mevo use the code AJGOLF http://mevo.golf/2GhxgyI

what's up welcome back to the channel
welcome back to my parents basement
this one is gonna be pretty fun because
i've been in quarantine now for just
over a week have like four days left
and i've been doing a ton of work just
kind of cleaning house
but what's behind this door underneath
these stairs
is pretty impressive
[Music]
i was coming through here yesterday just
cleaning and i came across
a lot of old golf clubs i've got my
original tour bag there i actually did a
what's in the bag
back from then but like what's kicking
around in there is
we have a 975d which is pretty unreal
parents old clubs these are some my
dad's old clubs
but right here this is my college golf
bag
these are all the clubs that i got my
tour card with a lot of memories here
and i figured why not do a little what's
in the bag
briefly and then go take these out on
the golf course when i can get on the
golf course
and see how they hold up now and if the
memories if the mojo is still there
here is the set of clubs that i played
into the canadian tour with
in the year 2007 this is also the last
college tournament i ever played was
this exact set of golf clubs this putter
i played my last college event the
national championships
with but i didn't use it at q school the
putter i used at q school was
scottie cameron newport 1.5 my last few
college events where i was using like a
different putter every week
but that newport 1.5 i used from late
2007
all the way to 2012. my dad's using it
right now so i'll take it out of his bag
when we go out and play with it
it's got a much bigger grip on it not
the grip that i used to use
this driver the mac tech
v2 magtec i don't know nvg
nine and a half degrees it has like a
speeder shaft made for mcgregor
i was a big aaron battery fan and this
was the driver that he used
and i wanted to give it a try and i
smashed it smash it i'm still convinced
it wasn't conforming or it's not
conformed anymore
i hit this thing so far at that q school
at royal ashburn
i'll never forget it 3-wood 906
f by titleist this 3-wood though the
face
has caved in i caved it in in 2010 or
11.
this isn't the shaft that i turned pro
with the shaft that turned pro with was
a pro force v2
every player my age had that shaft in
their clubs
this is an accra prototype from 2010
completely blacked out this is a tour z
prototype shaft you can see this grip
this is the grip my dad uses now
so clearly he re-gripped this thing he
found it under the under the stairs
and tried to hit it didn't realize the
face was completely
caved in so that's pretty useless this
two iron i used was a two iron wood
17 degrees by nikkens nikkens
they were huge in like 2004 567. this is
a project x first generation project x
shaft on it completely like that
smoked out almost like a sea taper looks
now that's what was on here
and then my irons three through pitching
wedge titleist
695 cbs first generation project x
shaft in these as well i use these right
up until i got ap2s
in 2009. wedges i have a bunch of voki
wedges i don't know which ones were
which
kind of time wise so these are sm just
spin milled like not sma the original
spin milled 54 and 60 i've been using 54
and 60 for the longest time
i don't know if these are the ones i
turn pro with but because i have a bunch
of sets and i don't know how old any of
them are so this is the one we'll use
for this video
the driver and the two iron i didn't use
when i finally got out on the canadian
tour my rookie year i went on full staff
with titleist so i replaced
the non-titleist clubs in my bag with
titleist clubs so i got the
905 r with a speeder shaft and then this
503
h like driving iron this thing was a
beast i think zach johnson
won the masters with this yeah so that
was what finished my titleist set
and i used that right and up until i got
a job with taylormade in 2012.
had the next generation titleist after
that but
i don't know where it is this is all
that's left so i'm going to grab that
putter from my dad's bag
and we'll go out and play a few holes of
the course i grew up at and see just how
this stuff
performs now yeah so in a few days i'm
gonna be on the golf course like in a
snap but it's actually a few days from
now because i still can't go on the golf
course yet because of quarantine
but i'll see you on the golf course now
okay we're at the highlands here i've
got my old
ottawa u bag and what i think i'm gonna
do
is the first three holes here on the
north course is a nice little loop par
four part five par three
it's gonna take this set out there and
play those three holes
see how these clubs hold up now just how
they perform and i actually still had
golf balls in this bag from
basically 2007 so for fun let's use
those old old old pro-v ones
but before that gonna take mevo and the
mac tech and just go hit a few drives on
the range and just see what kind of
numbers we get
carry and spin and launch the way that
it's set up then we'll go play three
holes
and we'll just have a little bit of fun
with these old golf clubs
there's meevo set up gonna hit four
drives
and see how this bad boy flies
that's a low spinning perfect launching
a little bit off the toe and you can
tell the sound was crazy and the spin
went
through the roof which modern stuff off
the toe the spin would come
down
wow that's a lot of spin
[Music]
they're straight in here
okay this is going to be pretty fun okay
those numbers on the range are pretty
interesting now we're going to go out
with a golf ball from 2007.
first hole here is 360 yards usually it
was like a layup as a kid
but then when i became a more aggressive
player to smash driver we're downwind
now too so we probably hit it close
and i'm digging through the bag here and
i've found
like yardage books from 2002 2004 my
last three national championships from
college
a bunch of teas all golf balls so
clearly i turned pro and just
put it in the underneath the stairs and
that was that
pretty cool memories to dig through the
bag and find these things the rain has
come
up not letting it slow me down
a big high draw
all right we're in boy this is the first
time i've ever filmed
with an umbrella i've got the camera
kind of under it right now and then
mount the umbrella on the bag
but hey just want to have a hit with
these old clubs
that old pro v1 that was actually the
ball flight that i played
when i was a late amateur and junior
golfer just a big high draw
and still do it now with that setup let
me know down below how you think i'm
going to perform
with these old clubs i think if i can
stay
one under par on these three holes it'd
be pretty some
pretty solid shooting okay we got 81
yards
that thing just went high obviously it's
going to get no run
okay and i think these were obviously
before
c grooves these are square grooves so
this thing should spin
a lot even out of the rough downwind
or catch it a little heavy and let it
release but
looks like it's inside 10 feet for a
quick birdie but actually i don't know
if you can see
look at that white paint on it right
away like that's what square grooves did
it would just destroy your golf ball so
one shot haven't hit these clubs in over
a decade
and it already took a piece of that golf
ball
unbelievable let's see if i can
get out the gates with a little tweet
tweet
damn it that thing went like this oh
crap
oh that was so soft hitting that bro
that x though like wow it felt so
different than what i'm used to right
now
all right carl in the first we got a par
five into the win
to make a four 514 yards dog leg right
when the mackenzie tour played here i
believe we played closer to the white
tees and played this as a par four but i
remember growing up this was
such a good hole to try to you know for
avoid the bunker on the right when i was
younger and then avoid the bunker on the
left i was a little bit older and then
it was get it past everything and have
an iron in
but it's been almost always into the
wind
with this thing how high it's been going
i'm gonna have to like
punch cut this thing so we can hit that
iron wood into the screen
okay hit it way right but that's what i
used to do as a kid i try to cut it over
cut it i'd be in the first hole but then
you have a shot up and over the trees so
hopefully we can make it happen but
right away like two swings on the course
with this four on the driving range
there's just i have no control within
you can see trying to shape something
that goes
to the moon and cuts so yeah this isn't
suited for me but
when it was i loved it but clearly it's
quite outdated now
and can't hang with the control
of modern tech really and the shape
ability and
yeah so you were good while you lasted
but
it's time to retire you've been retired
for a long time you're going to stay in
retirement so that thing probably only
went like 240 yards
like i said he used to try to sometimes
if you missed it right you could hit it
up there and still go for the green
i don't think we have that with my crack
3 wood and that
iron wood so i think just to feel these
irons that feels good i'm going to hit a
6 iron back in play
and have a wedge in
[Music]
that felt really good this first
generation project x
shaft was money that felt awesome
look at that right on the number
let's go get up and down okay good
little layup back right pin i got 120
into that wind so just gonna punch
pitching wedge i don't remember what the
lofts were on these but
probably not too far off from what i'm
using now
that felt so good but the wind's moving
it
okay it might be a back fringe but we're
butt we're putting
yeah that felt really really good those
two iron shots
felt fantastic but now i need to
make a bond
oh that's a pretty bad car
because of a really bad drive
this is a good little test right now we
got 176 wind is kind of just like this
so i'm gonna go with seven iron
like a club short damn it it's pretty
fun coming back here though because
like this little three-hole loop you
just put your bag back by the tee and
it's right by the parking lot
this is what we would do a lot in the
evenings like if we were working
and we closed early i know the two
assistant pros here
way back when i was like 13 14. they had
some pretty good they were good players
they had some really good
three-hole battles for paychecks pretty
good stuff
but yeah the last year i was here i was
16 my last summer so these clubs
i didn't use when i was here but
nonetheless
this is a lot of nostalgia in this video
i hope you're enjoying it give it a
thumbs up if you are
going to finish up this whole that'll be
it so let me know what clubs were you
using
back in 2007 and 2008. we can have a
little
reminisce about the clubs from 13 years
ago heck some of you probably weren't
even alive 13 years ago
but uh yeah yeah let's chip this in
you hear those turkeys going ham there
we go three bars
not so bad i hope you enjoyed this video
like i said give it a thumbs up
subscribe if you're not subscribed
and we'll see you in the next video
peace
