last week for anyone in the gulf biz
industry golf nerds
was a big week a lot of companies
released some new irons last week and
taylormade my the clubs i've been using
for eight years now
they launched three new irons last week
and they look
beautiful and in today's video i'm going
to give you a first look at these
on the driving range on the golf course
give you my thoughts
kind of a brief small review on them
with the demos
and all that fun stuff and show off
these sexy sexy looking irons
[Music]
i'm out here at piper's heath golf club
in oakville ontario and i actually
used to practice out here my coach used
to work here and we'd practice
back of this range like 2010 and 2011
awesome place
lynx golf course gets very very windy so
it's actually a great test for
irons i have some demos from the mcs the
mb's the 770s
one of the sim driving irons and the
tiger woods grind 60 degree wedge
so i'm gonna hit these talk about them a
little bit show you the difference
in the irons and then take them on the
golf course hit them out there and see
how they perform out there
and then basically for me right now is
i'm piecing together
how i'm going to build my set i've
always played with a combo set since
joining taylormade in 2012 i've always
used more of the muscle cavity in the
long irons
and the blades and the short irons and
even right now i'm still using
750s in my three and four iron and 7 30s
and the rest of the bag
as opposed to having the combo sets be
these rare things that people get
taylormade's like hey
everyone could use a combo set so it's
like these three irons are rolled out
together in a way for people to optimize
all of them in the top of the bag in the
bottom of the bag and kind of get irons
that
help them where they need the help my
eye is on the mc
a lot i can't wait to hit it but the mbs
look really really nice
i think i want to do a full set of mcs
but through hitting all of this
we'll come to a decision when this video
is said and done but enough talk andrew
let's go hit some freaking golf balls we
got three nine irons so we'll go
nine irons for each one obviously like i
i want the mcs
but we won't start with them so this is
the 770
so this still has the speed foam
injected like a 790.
really forgiving but more playable than
the 790.
these will pair really well with people
that have the 790 and maybe want a
little more
playability in the lower irons
so this is the mc completely forged head
even a little badge is forged which is
pretty dope and i guess here i have my
750
9 iron so here's a good little
comparison quite similar but there's
a little bit more tech in this one here
in the new one
and again more forgiveness more
playability
it feels so good
so here's the mb and we can compare it
to
my 8-iron a lot of similarities but
again just improving upon
what's so solid in this top line looks
about the same we'll do some top-down
shots to kind of compare them
wow that feels like the best
this was the same thing that had like
between sixties a lot
two years ago i remember like my 730s to
my action felt
more forgiving than 760s and this is
like the same thing this feels more
forgiving
than all three of them to me which is
wild
the new mb's the blade length is a
little bit longer so this one the right
is the mb
9 iron and that's the 8 iron
from the 730s so yeah about the same
there so in two clubs
but less offset in this year's club
versus the 730s chances are this will be
the top end of my bag where i'll put
an mc three and four iron your top line
comparison
little thinner top line
in the mc little less offset as well
that's beautiful but then if i wanted
even more forgiveness and a stronger
three iron i could go into 770
and i bet you this thing will be an
absolute
beast
like i thinned that i don't like looking
down at this there's a lot too much
offset for me
in my eye but that was thinned and
probably hit
the exact same distance great flight to
it a lot of forgiveness in this
bad boy in a sleek player's head
wow yeah that's
having these in the top of your bag is
like
wow that's hot that's awesome we're
gonna have a little fun with the
sim this is one offering the sim dhy
like a hybrid
a little too much beef for me i think
i'm gonna go with the sim udi
just like my gapper or my udi but look
at that that thing is
pretty awesome man that actually looks
still really good
looking down at it i thought it would be
too chunky that looks
awesome i did not expect that just
grabbing out of the bank that looks
amazing let's hit it
[Music]
that's a little too high for me but wow
that felt awesome
this tiger tiger's grind
look at that wow
wow wow wow wow
mg two
oh my gosh that feels
just it sits amazingly and they even put
tiger's grip on it
wow wow i'm totally fanboying out here
because obviously i grew up
tiger is my favorite player and this is
his input
this is his grind
you can do so much with this
how easy that was to get underneath that
like that's
this reminds me of like almost like the
atv grind we used to have
there's a lot more away here like that's
what tiger likes
a little bit just similar to the atv
grind not as
aggressive but like look at that
oh my gosh
i can't wait to take this on the golf
course and just put it like in a bunker
or short side
yo baby oh baby oh baby okay so behind
me i've
pieced together uh basically a set of
irons
where i'm gonna test i've got like all
three for the uppers and then
both blades mc's for the lowers got the
56 and the 60 degree wedge
and the udi is here now the other two
people from the taylormade other two
marketing guys came out and they have
the rest of the clubs
so we've got a full set so we're gonna
go out and play and then on the par
threes
is where we'll really showcase the irons
and like see the difference between the
and 7b how it's pretty much a club
further club longer
and just the difference between the
irons to my irons and
yeah on the par threes is where we can
kind of piece together
this uh this fit if you will in this
combo set well we got a perfect test for
the udi the first hole here at piper
is like 385 a little downwind
relatively narrow i don't want to blast
a driver into the fescue so let's hit
the udi this is the stock offering the
amana shaft
nice so let's i've hit two on the range
and it's pretty good
but i am playing a match against so
we have no excuses to hit bad ones
that thing was awesome that was that was
like
high tow and that thing was still
roasted okay i got 122 on the second
hole so
perfect little test for a flighted
pitching wedge so
bring the 7mb out and
hopefully hit it close
oh my gosh that felt so good i think
it's a little long though
wow
[Music]
a little soft in the shack and that's
why there are these high draws
because it's a stiff shaft but man
money through the turf perfect test here
on the fourth well i got 196 into the
par 5
uphill into the wind so i think i'm
gonna choke down with the four iron so
this is
mc4 iron and see how this thing
feels and flies
a little too much draw this shaft's a
little soft
but it looks like it's just on the
fringe being high it still felt really
good for a miss hit
cut a little on the toe but the softer
shaft i'm just drawing a little bit too
much but
that thing fought through the wind
love it on the fifth hole we got another
great test so 390 yard
narrow-ish hole here downwind probably
too much for
udi or gapper so i'm gonna hit three
irons so this is the 7mc
i'm gonna try to punch it and let it run
a little bit again the shaft's a little
soft
but let's see just how i can flight
bmc and how it flies
yeah i'll take them put them in the bag
jeez that was good
we're on the eighth hole like the kind
of signature hole at piper's heat you
see it by the road it's a beautiful hole
it's always into the wind
we've got 170 to the flag so this is our
test
of all three clubs i'm gonna probably
flight a six iron with the mc and the mb
and then go with seven iron with a 770
because these are a little stronger
hotter clubs and let's just see how they
fly and let's
see how this thing clubbing down is
still going to help you if you know you
need that distance and forgiveness
in my set i'm probably going to do mb so
i'm going to flight a little mb here
that felt so good
that was just a few feet past pin high
but we're not really concerned about
that we're just concerned about like
what the flight is and how it feels
i'm going to try to hit the exact same
shot with mc and see how it flies
i missed it that i caught that fin
[Applause]
and it like landed they like landed
right beside each other
so that's pretty interesting i miss hit
that and it flew the exact same as a
really well struck mb
and they both sloped down the exact same
now let's go seven iron
and 770. exact same shot the winds come
down a little bit but we're just with
the same shot
these three golf balls are like all
beside each other that's pretty amazing
so that thing flew maybe a couple yards
less but it was a club less so pretty
interesting
a little higher flight but that's what
the the tech behind this is meant to do
it's meant to
help you get the ball up in the air hit
it further with a little less effort so
really interesting and we're gonna
proof's in the point i'm gonna go show
you those three balls up at the green
and you'll see how they all turned up
there's a ball mark
there's a ball mark there was a
collection
area and here's here's the seven iron
so you think i hit flight at six flight
at six
five yards further than just a flight at
seven
same swing three different clubs 770
a little higher a little further mb was
the flight i liked the most
mc a little thin flew about the same
wow pretty interesting stuff so you can
see i think i'm going to start my set
of mbs at the six iron and go three four
five
in the mc's here's i've got 85 yards
into the wind so i'm gonna have to
hit this almost pretty full but it's a
good test because my 54
i'd really have to take a lot out of so
let's see if i can flight this
from 85 yards into the wind and just see
how this
different grind reacts from the fairway
for that type of shot
okay pin high but man that got through
the turf pretty well i just didn't fly
it as much as i wanted
shafting but that felt really good going
through the turf
i find sometimes my 60 it's weird it
doesn't feel so precise for the turf but
tiger knows what he's talking about when
he's designing a golf club so
well done tiger i totally forgot i've
got the 56 now
so yeah i got to take a quite a little
bit off of it but let's see how i can
flight this or how this grind
goes through the turf and if it allows
me to keep the ball a little bit lower
than that 60 degree wind
[Music]
wow that was pretty solid like i have a
54 but this was a 56 so i know i got to
take it off but like look how that went
through the turf look at that
strike unfortunately i can't play that
in our match but
that 56 degree grind that's really
really nice you kind of see it there a
little off the heel oh man tiger tiger
knows what he's talking about
when it comes to uh grinding wedges
man how cool is that he made this grind
okay fanboy time over got a great test
for
the wedge around the greens this is the
11th hole here
240 yard par 3 dead into the wind so i
hit a pretty good
punch 2 iron just a little right kick
down into this collection area so now
i've got a little tight lie
firm greens there's the flag so this can
be a great little test for
the grind on this if i can kind of nip
under it get a little bit of spin
and uh chip this one close and i think
three could win this hole
that was amazing that felt so
awesome and like landed like a like a
bean bag
easy three and we might win the hole on
the 13th here
we got a back left pin it's 180 yards
downwind i think this will be a great
for our last little on test
on course test this would be the club
that would be in my bag
mb 8 iron with this win and the firm
greens gotta land it probably about 165
adjusted so let's just hit an eight iron
land it short let it trickle back there
and get a hole in one one take wonder
with
the fresh new clubs but look at this
thing how beautiful is that it's just
a thing of beauty love this little
triangle action
yeah kbs tour stiff gonna put a kbs tour
x in my set
and uh yeah let's let's do this
hold it a bit
that was right at it i think it might
miss left but
pretty good shot for a slight thin pull
what a great final test there you go
that 8 iron was on the money i i think
that's a great way to end this video i
really hope you enjoyed it
got to look at this new line from
taylormade
really great irons obviously i've been
using them for eight years but these
ones
feel really awesome and i can't wait to
put the shafts that i use in it i can't
thank my team and my friends at
taylormade enough for making this happen
giving me access to these demos and uh
taking you along
for the fun on the range and the fun on
the golf course give it a thumbs up all
these irons are linked below if you want
to learn a little bit more about them
and subscribe if you're not subscribed
we'll see in the next video
