This week on OSRL. The new addition to our house gets delivered,
the materials that is, and we get a snowy surprise.
Good morning everyone. What a beautiful day.
And today is a big day. Very excited. A very big delivery is coming today.
Put this order in about a week ago. It's finally coming in.
No surprise. It's for the rest of the house build. So very cool.
Should be all the framing materials. Should be
one of the largest, most expensive parts. It's the lumber.
So there's still going to be some expenses after this,
but this should be one of the biggest initial ones.
So it should be here in a little bit. But in the meantime,
we still could be getting a little bit of rain.
So I got to make sure we got a place to store it.
There's UV. She's all excited. She wants to play.
Don't you want to play?
All right. So this is what I'm looking at right here.
Kind of a mess. And believe it or not,
I actually did start kind of clearing up some of the wood in here.
This is all kind of used scrap wood.
So basically I'm going to get it out of here.
Probably better to put the new wood under the roof rather than just the scrap wood.
So I got a lot to do.
Yeah, I won't get this done before the delivery is here,
but I'll get it started and then hopefully we'll have a place to store it soon.
I got old plywood and OSB that I just don't want to toss.
I feel like I could still maybe use it for some purposes,
even setting up target practice or something like that.
So I'm going to try and protect as much of this as I can.
Some of the tiny scrap wood.
Maybe I'll end up chopping it up, using it for firewood.
All right. We got that area clear.
Plenty of time before the delivery.
Many thanks to Peter.
Sometimes it helps having a couple pairs of hands.
Got that done with the quickness.
Our house is here.
All right. Very exciting.
We got the delivery.
And now the trick is getting it all underneath this roof.
I was debating whether I could just slap a tarp over there and call it a day,
but some of this wood is going to be a while before we use.
So I figure it's best just get it under the roof.
So it's a little bit more protected.
Could still throw a tarp over it because, you know,
that roof isn't going to keep all the rain off of it.
So a little bit better protected.
Protect that investment. You know what I'm saying?
This wood is going to be very important.
All right. So before moving all this lumber underneath the roof,
we're going to lay some pallets out just so it's off the ground a little bit.
Probably going to bring maybe about four more pallets.
And I think we'll be good to restack this wood.
So we got that huge delivery and I've changed focus.
So I kind of started digging out a trench for the foundation.
But now that the materials are here,
I really want to get posts in the ground.
So I've started digging post holes
and I got my little digging helper with me.
UV's going to help dig.
Aren't you going to help dig?
So I've already got one pretty much dug out.
Probably need to go down like maybe a couple more inches.
It's looking pretty good.
But I have a lot more to go.
I have, well, there's 20 posts all together.
So I got to get started.
There's definitely going to be a lot of digging with this project,
getting everything into the ground.
So let's get to it.
So I had to take a break from digging holes.
We still have all that concrete that got delivered
and we might get some more rain.
So I got to get that concrete someplace safe.
There's 35 bags.
I got most of it moved and now I just got a little bit more.
Last load.
Got to get this into the container.
Good morning.
Well, it is a very cloudy day.
It's going to be pretty cold.
Probably won't get out of the 40s for the high today.
And we are expected to get rain pretty much all day.
So I got another post hole dug yesterday, which is excellent.
And we'll see.
We'll see how that rain looks today.
Maybe I can get out and get some more digging done.
But we'll see.
It looks like rain could be headed our way.
Technically, it's supposed to rain here in a little bit.
Before I went to bed last night, I came out and I covered all the lumber.
I got a tarp over here on this side.
And I also got a tarp over here.
They'd be protected from rain up above.
But if that rain comes at a from the sides, from the north and south,
I want that to be kind of protected that way as well.
So hopefully that keeps the lumber nice and dry.
Looks like those clouds are creeping over those mountains.
So who knows?
We'll get that rain soon.
But I'll take you guys along.
You know, we could use a little bit extra water after losing some from that busted pipe.
So we'll see how much rain we get.
Well, it is official.
We are getting snow.
Could you believe this?
This is wild.
Should be interesting to see how much snow we get.
Doesn't happen too often, but pretty cool when it does.
Yuvia is not a fan of the snow, I don't think.
She's hanging out on the couch.
Well, that was quite the storm.
Pretty wild that we got the rain and then all that snow.
It pretty much left just about as quickly as it arrived.
But a decent amount of water.
We got another three tenths of an inch.
We can always use that extra moisture.
So unfortunately, due to the weather, I had to kind of stop digging some of those post holes.
But now that the storm is over, now that the temps are warming back up,
I could get back out here and keep on digging.
I got a couple of holes done, but I still have quite a few more to dig.
So I'm going to get back out here and I'm going to get these post holes done.
Wow, so it feels absolutely amazing out here today.
I'm in a t-shirt.
I mean, this morning was pretty cold.
We're in the mid to high 20s.
Probably going to be the same way tomorrow.
But the daytime temperatures are warming up real nice.
I think it's going to be about 60 today and it feels really good.
So now I've rounded the corner on the post holes.
I got two more to dig on this side.
And then we're going to go straight down over here and try and get these done.
Very exciting.
I don't know.
I'm actually moving pretty quickly along with these post holes.
I'm kind of excited about it.
And once I get these holes dug, we can put the posts in and then
this build is practically done.
Well, the last post hole I want to get done for the day.
And of course, it's covered in rocks.
So I got to get these out of the way and then I can put in the last hole.
I think I should be able to get that done tonight.
Very exciting.
I was going to toss them out of my way over here, but I might throw them in a wheelbarrow
because eventually all these rocks got to get moved.
All right, y'all.
So I am super excited.
Well, one, it's just nice and warm right now.
And it's such a blessing after the past couple of days where
the temps in the morning have just been so cold, like in the 20s.
Well, this morning was in the 20s as well.
But the daytime temperature is actually like in the 60s, almost 70.
It feels amazing.
Did I just channel Oprah in there for a little bit?
Amazing.
But it feels really good.
It felt really good being out here the other day, digging all those post holes.
I think it was I hit a new record.
Yeah.
I got 10 post holes done that day.
Wild.
So I got quite a bit done.
I'm very excited by the amount of progress I got.
There's still some post holes that I got to dig.
I'll get those out.
But then I think I'll be ready to actually put some posts in the ground,
get those cemented in.
So one big step in completing the pole barn build.
Exciting.
Very exciting.
But yeah, it was just it's nice sort of recovering from that wild storm we had
with just the snow and the rain.
But it was nice getting all that water.
But I think you had a really rough time of it as well.
I did.
I've been out of commission for a bit.
Well, you can you can tell right now she's she got sick and she's been pretty sick.
I think you're on the upswing now, though, right?
Yeah.
Well, and I'm sure the cold and the cloudy days didn't help with the recovery as well.
So it's exciting.
Yeah.
I got these post holes dug.
We got that huge delivery.
All the lumber is here.
So we are ready to get building.
Very exciting.
And I really wanted to take a moment and thank you guys for just the outpouring of love and
support after the last video just completely took me by surprise with that testimonial
that she did.
She was just like, I added something in the video.
Can you watch it and see if it's OK?
And I watched it and it just it nearly brought me to tears.
It was so raw and honest.
And up until that point, I don't even think we think you've sort of let me know just in
one thing like that, how much, you know, like what you've been going through, how much I've
meant to you on this journey and like that.
So it was really amazing to hear.
And I knew once I heard that, that that people would resonate with that.
I was a little nervous about sharing that, but I'm really touched by all the comments
and things we've received and the support.
It's really very wonderful.
It's really gratifying, like putting yourself out there like that, putting your heart out
there, sort of letting people know what's going on with you and to have such understanding
and support.
It just absolutely means the world to us.
So thank you so much, Jess.
That was beautiful.
What you had said the other day, I just it was amazing.
Always blows me away.
You know, she's she is very quiet on the videos, but when she does talk, it's pretty profound
sometimes.
And then I'm talking too much, but I'm going to stop talking.
I'm going to let you guys go.
Thank you so much for watching.
Really appreciate all the comments, all the support.
We couldn't be doing what we're doing out here without you.
So thank you so much.
And we'll catch you on the next video.
And you'll get to see these posts start going into the ground.
Very exciting.
I'll catch you in the next video.
Bye.
We got a lazy dog over here.
She wants some pets.
Yuvia says bye.
