people coming on in nice
what up Eric bear with me guys I've I've
learned from last week so I've got my
phone on personal like hotspots so I can
see the live stream on my computer here
and get get better interaction and the
chats instead of having to turn around
all the time
so hopefully and then the microphone I
have hopefully is much much better to
volume off on a computer so I just want
to I can see the the live chat over
there hopefully we'll let a few more
people come in I don't know how's the
audio can you guys hear me okay what's
up Scott I'm I'm over here just behind
the camera here looking for the audio
testing it out hopefully that the levels
are okay that you guys can hear me all
right maybe we'll put that there
okay so the alright yeah weather is
great it's um it's like 80 degrees here
a little humid go right here and look at
this get the camera going perfect yeah
so I've just got the pun green set up
here just on a little drill that I that
I do almost every day which is this is a
four footer I've got a gate down there I
have a tee on the far end of the hole
basically is where I'm gonna aim and
then I have a gate one foot out from
where I'm hitting it from and it's a
narrow gate it's just a little bit
bigger that ball of tees are down quite
low and it's just making sure I start
this golf ball on line and I'm working
right now on my face through impact so
if I'm closing it I'm gonna miss that or
if I'm leaving it too far open in the
effort to keep it square I'm gonna hit
that gate my next tournament
is this coming Monday Tuesday yeah I had
done of Coral Springs on Sunday so it's
the first event of the Florida beat tour
they're like fall into winter season so
they're launching in Coral Springs this
year and this is a tour that's usually
around Orlando they're they're gonna be
in Coral Springs for their first events
I'm really pumped I've been prepping
quite hard and getting a lot of work in
around the greens getting comfortable
Bermuda grass Bermuda rough in
particular because this is the time of
year where the rough is really is really
fluffy and the ball sits down on it so I
gotta get on point with with reading
lies and using my bounce properly as
opposed to a leading edge which is more
common way to chip went up on Bermuda or
up on rye or Bank wrasse tips for
reading grain I always look at the hole
so if you look at the hole there's gonna
be half of the hole that's smooth like
the cut is great and there's gonna be
the other half that's kind of like
frayed the frayed half is basically the
way the grain is going because when you
cut the hole when you cut with the grain
it's smooth but then when you're against
the grain you're gonna see that frayed
bit so when you're see that frayed but
that's kind of where the putts always
gonna die - especially went into the
green putting into the grain the grain
is more if it has more effect putting
down grain has less effect and then
another way to read grain is basically
dark versus shiny when it's shiny you're
putting down grain and when it's dark
they're putting into the grain
the best practice for putting is what
I'm gonna do right now it's this bill of
like I said a four-footer get a stick a
shaft or whatever set it t up where
you're gonna aim it and then a gate here
and you can make the gate you can make
the gate as narrow or or wide as you
want depending on like your ability this
is like I said it's just getting used to
starting a golf ball online and that's
probably the most important thing in
funny pressures on now
[Music]
this is like your block practice with
cutting this is really necessary and
then from here I'll start getting just
variable random putts and make it feel
more like the putts I'll get on a golf
course
[Music]
single shot
where am i practicing I'm in Fernandina
Beach Florida at the club at Northampton
my home course here what's up rookie DIY
that's a that's a good place to be at
home from I actually know Ian's older
brother Danny pretty well I've played in
a pro-am with him for the last except
for this year but three years prior we
always go to this trip to curse out and
Danny Poulter's are pretty good pretty
good dude Chad so James do you follow
what I was saying with the putty in
there with that drill hey Kumiko what's
up man just seeing you up top there
[Music]
alfred from sweden what's going on man
how about that Ryder Cup couple good
squeeze in that one i'ma keep rolling
some pots you guys can get us just get
an idea of exactly what this set is
drill is and then another way to really
hone it in is you know if you use a line
on your golf ball I use the tv5 logo
I'll line that up just further visualize
what I would do on a golf course cuz I
use the line basically on any putt
inside 20 feet that's outside 20 feet I
just like to look down at white but
these short putts I line it up right in
the middle of this gate and I make sure
I'm starting to put on line and then I
have the tee in the distance which is
another visual aid for the line but also
for when I'm over the ball to see that I
can see the line all right guys the the
phone overheated don't understand that
sitting in the shade so we're back yeah
the phone just overheated there we're
back we're back now though hold on I
bear with me and half the spot oh all
right we're back we're back guys thanks
for being patient I don't know why it's
overheating
doesn't make a whole lot of sense it's
sitting in the shade but it is hot out
here so that could be it so we're back
we're back we're back we're back can you
guys see me perfect perfect perfect
perfect so where were we
yeah this is pretty similar to the
Powell's tool with the balls but I just
have the t's I just have never got that
Pels one and then what do we have here
Trevor yeah I always focus on my rhythm
and tempo in this trope it's kind of the
thing that I always always fall back on
and then when I'm on a golf course it's
the only thing I'm thinking about
especially on short putts a key that I
tell a lot of amateurs in the pro-am is
you just want the the stroke to feel the
same speed back as it is through I'm
like four or five three footers there's
a lot of amateurs struggle with the
shorter putts because they're
accelerating too much or they're
decelerating so this is something where
you can kind of make sure you keep that
rhythm constant through and you'll keep
this face square a lot longer
okay we're good
alright overall a few more we're still
alive thankfully I don't know why my
phone is over slows down square so it's
very easy
basically I just stand-in here I see my
line I have that T is like another
visual aid and just let it go
all right Lorelai
that's good that's good to see
all right let me checking on it I'm not
on dial-up connection I said I'm on a
phone and the phone over he did play in
England Sunday of course I do I'd love
to get over there and play some
tournaments but also maybe film with
Peter or Rick or me and my golf mobile
hotspot that I'm using as well as
streaming so I'm gonna turn the mobile
hotspot off and just do the come and
look back for chats but I'll look at the
most recent chats that we have here
there
and put that phone in the car okay sorry
guys
this damn Florida heat
[Music]
yeah the Matt I was saying the Matt I
use is the vizio my putting template so
you can find that on vizio golf's
Instagram and a bit of a wink when do I
use my staff bag pretty much only if I'm
doing like a charity event I know I
don't use the staff bag in tournaments
it's overkill I'll use a staff bag in
tournaments when I'm paid to carry a
staff bag that's kind of how I look at
it yeah the staff bag is just you look
like a doofus using a staff bag in a
mini-tour event so I just like to use my
carry bag because I'm often carrying my
own bag so I'm not gonna be carrying a
staff bag
[Music]
25 back 75% through that that's a good
thing but that's also you need to have
really good control of what you're doing
with your putter to have that
understanding let's go back here
all right guys I'm gonna have to come
back behind the phone for any type of
chat stuff now because the hotspot
overheating so what do you guys been
saying what John what what putting
trainees do I use basically this
homemade one I use the vizio my putting
template and then I use I started to use
this actually I did a video about it the
gen I won smart golf ball it's pretty
cool and especially in this puting
switch it's just helping me basically
see how much the face is moving in the
stroke and if I can keep it square for
their impact
do I focus on keeping my hands but all
my shoulders no I have a tendency of
getting my hands too low I've always had
that tendency so the thing that I think
about is I'd love this putter basically
to grip right into my belly button or my
belt buckle so that's kind of my cue
when it comes to where the hands are
I usually use my putters like three
degrees flat but I've gone to just one
degree flat now because it gets this
understand a better position here but
yeah I just focus on this being at my
belly button so where they are in
relation my shoulders just kind of
happens
and that's something that I believe is
will focus on when practicing and then
on the course I try to just go with it
I don't consciously
[Music]
but it's very easy to tell after a
stroke if my hands got too low sometimes
when my hands get too low that's when
the face closes a little bit too much
and that's what this putter is a lot
helping me with because I'm keeping the
face a little square a little longer
the ardmore I can close it a lot more
and that was getting me in trouble
[Music]
see ya here in the chat what did that
just say they disappear unfortunately
the only putty narc I use is the mom I'm
putting it has a slight arc on it so
when I put the t's in there
it will show me a little arc but I don't
use that because I don't have a lot of
art in my stroke and that cutting
template kind of covers all the bases
instead of just having an arc down here
a wood arc or whatever it is that
puttings input gets you a kind of
alignment set strike set you can put a
gate in it like there's just so much
that it does and I just I love it
[Music]
roll a few more but some chats rolling
or I guess I could say so like say I've
done this drill 450 putts let's say when
I'm practicing or I'll do it for like 10
before around then I'll take it off the
ground but because yes this technical
block work is good it gets you in a good
feel of the now it's about fitting
cutscene aligned and there's this rope
you
warmed up for a tournament or about a
golf you're not really super concerned
about making these things you're just
concerned with your just needs control
if you've seen the line and those things
like that's kind of all your the water
a lot of people before around or just
they stress themselves out if they're
not making putts but it's just beautiful
rounds to hit up hills downhill and then
just get a feel for the greens and your
throw I thought was a really good putt
but I just made it through the break but
that I gained a lot more than if I hit a
bad putt that happened to go in
and he chats guys like now's your time
come back behind the camera I can see
these things yeah the phone's not
overheating that was it was the hot spot
over evening
and then I guess since I'm talking a
little bit about pre-round a
pre-tournament the last thing I'll do is
basically like I'll go around the hall
with 1/2 foot butter no reason other
than seeing the golf ball go and hearing
it go in and just getting confidence of
picking the golf ball out the hole like
it's something I've done for a long long
time and it's just a good way to end
before going on the golf course and if
you're practicing from here and you miss
a few while you're warming up and that's
the end of your warmup what you're
taking to the golf course is missing
pucks
so I'll just basically come in here see
the hole and it's just a good feeling
picking it up move move a foot the other
way it's a good feeling
picking out of the hole and this is the
last thing I'll do before I go and see
it out
you know obviously I make sure I'm
staying still and all those things but
this is just a great thing to do because
then when you're on the golf course and
you have maybe that little testy we
wanted to have footer that you even
sometimes struggle with there - footer
you've seen a ton of putts go in the
hole so this is just an you know a great
little way to take yourself to the golf
course
it's a lot harder when I can't see the
chats all right I'm gonna spin it around
selfie mode and we'll just end with a
little like kind of brief Q&A sound good
let's do this spin this around I look
like a lefty now but we'll sit down
straighten this out that's really
crooked all right
go guys all right hit me with your chats
now so I can see them and then we can
end this little live from the putting
green with with a bang
I have appreciate your guys patience
through all that phone overheating guess
I tried my best with the hot spot it
worked for for a hot minute but it was
too hot the hot spot was too hot and the
phone was overheating so I couldn't keep
up with the chat on the computer so hit
me with the chat now my pre round
routine that's uh I just showed you a
little bit of that like when it comes to
putting my pre round routine I could
probably make a full video about that
because I'm pretty predictable I do the
same thing before every round so I'll
totally make a video about that in the
next month or two because it is fall now
and I don't have as many tournaments or
as much travel I've got a lot of time
here at Northampton practicing yeah I
think I'll do some live like I think you
guys are liking this I'm liking this and
yeah we can do a live from from chipping
you know in a week or so do I recommend
getting fitted for a 17 handicap yes I
mean when I took a year off plane I was
a club fitter and it doesn't matter how
good or novice or whatever you are
getting fitted into golf clubs will help
you enjoy the game of golf more because
you don't have to change yourself to the
clubs the clubs are now suited for you
and even if you're a seventeen handicap
and it makes you drop down to a fifteen
and that makes you enjoy golf a little
bit more do it getting fitted in the
golf clubs is something that so many
people don't do but it's it's necessary
I'm trying to think of an analogy of
something else that's commonplace like
you know you wouldn't just buy a car
without test driving it or you wouldn't
like these type of things like you you
need to have something that suits you
so yeah
doesn't matter you're handicapped
getting fitted is super important yeah
pre-round pre-tournament round vlog no
problem James I hope you learned
something from it and it helps your
puting helps keep those those balls
starting online and making those short
putts
yeah pre round tournament vlog that'll
be easy to do like I've done things that
I do before the actual tournaments but
doing a warm-up Dominican what's up man
I'll do it definitely a warm-up vlog for
sure and a wide from with like live from
live from the chipping green you know we
can we can do that next week these are
these are pretty fun to do you just got
to find a way to get some I get a second
phone so I can see the con see the chats
while I'm doing it or have someone out
here get Kelly out here so she can read
it read the chat to me or something I
think I'm gonna sign off pretty soon
here guys so if you got any questions
fire them in if not so I'm gonna get
back to practicing coming out of college
in Canada what's up from San Jose good
place to be those sharks you took my
took Carlson from Ottawa good Tours to
play if you're coming from Canada like
all night on the East Coast the Great
Lakes tour and the sea cpt are the best
obviously are on the west coast the vgt
the vancouver golf tour is great those
are the only options so i don't know
where you're from but yeah those are
I've done a video about the Great Lakes
tour so Arkansas what's up Austin I've
done a video about the Great Lakes tour
so you go check that out learn a little
bit more about them but that's a great
place to start your professional golf
journey if you don't have the means to
jump right into cue school for a
Mackenzie tour or something like that I
totally forget what the other question
was no problem Tyler
yeah I'm a Canucks fan so seeing Carlson
go I wish he came to us would I change
to pxg maybe like I'd have to hit the
golf clubs get fitted into the golf
clubs and I answered this in the QA like
if I wasn't with TaylorMade or if Taylor
might drop me I'd still use all the
clubs I have and then when those clubs
were wore out I would just work to get
fit into something else that works for
me or I mean quite frankly if TaylorMade
were to drop me I could still purchase
golf clubs so I would probably still
trust Hillary for a long long long time
but pxg is quite expensive so it is it
is about relationship and I'm fortunate
but yeah it's like if my car died what
car would I Drive after I Drive a
Hyundai now I don't know what car I'd
get after this like you just kind of
cross that bridge when it comes in terms
of clubs I would use these golf clubs
even after whatever sponsorship or drop
like whatever if it if it ended I'd
still use the clubs because they're
still good and they still work any more
questions any last things because I'm
gonna sign off and perhaps a little bit
more than get some lunch and then just
tweak this so that I can upload it in
full for anyone to watch it again or
anyone that missed it
oh I'd love to play faster tempo I had a
Isaac Weintraub played with him on the
Canadian tour for a handful years he you
think he grew up playing there he's in
DC now but I've heard a lot of good
things KD for lunch
no Katie and no Katie in Florida it's
called something else I don't even know
what it's called but no Katie here all
right guys I think that's it I'm going
to get some food in me and tweak this
edit thanks so much for joining the live
stream and this one was a little bit
better than last one we figured it out a
little bit more but then the phone
overheating got to us but I'll see you
guys in a couple days because the next
thing that'll be uploading will be a bit
of tournament stuff so
