Nov 7th: I'm BACK!! Welcome to season 2 of the vlog! Starting it of with a bang by revealing my new putter, talking about my latest training aid and taking you on the course for 3 more holes of course management talk.
three more holes on the golf course
today maybe we can talk through some
[Music]
birdies season two of the Vlog episode 1
we're back in Action going to do
something never done in the Vlog before
so why not do it in episode one of
season 2 we're going to do an unboxing
today my new putter showed up from
Sailor made the same putter that was
given away in the giveaway so James over
in Halifax expect yours very very soon
but here we go this is a little little
unboxing action so let's do
this boom
boom all right I don't think there's
anything like fancy or cool that comes
in any packaging not pretty pretty basic
have a look guys there we
go little bit of little bit of foam
wrap
there's the bad boy there's the TP red
Ardmore 2 L neck take this off this is
gorgeous wow look at that this is my
first look at it m that is so nice look
at that bad boy look at that oh my gosh
if you can't tell I'm pretty excited to
put this into play so let's go to the
golf course
[Music]
first few Impressions quite good face is
a little firmer than uh the insert on
the spider but it's pretty much the same
face feel as the ghost which I
used for 5 years so this is a pretty
sexy mix between the ghost I was
using in terms of the neck and the
alignment and spider I was using in
terms of kind of the feel of it and the
of it so far so good going to keep
putting here another thing we have new
in the bag you saw me use it in the Sam
video the season finale from season 1
this is the uh Vio putting mat Dan put
me on this this is the smallest Arc and
I've used it for a couple days now since
getting it and it's amazing so now I'm
going to get a lot of work done with it
the new putter this mat there's a lot of
cool things you can do with it obviously
you need to unroll it Pin It to the
Ground because of the thing that we were
noticing with my stroke High I was kind
of cutting across it we can put T's all
along here that are essentially going to
stop me from cutting across it cuz I'll
know if I do it I'm going to hit the I'm
going to hit the te's right after impact
and you can set up a little gate here
it's just an awesome awesome visual aid
and I mean it's instant feedback if you
hit a bad pot versus a good pot
[Music]
I'm going to do a 100 of these I've done
20 you just saw that in the time lapse
and there's a couple times where you hit
the pegs it's not necessarily about
making all of these putts right now I
just want to get a feel for what I'm
working on in my stroke we're working on
my stroke this offseason putting a new
putter into the bag obviously that helps
a little bit give you that fresh kind of
take on things going up to a 35in putter
I've a 34-in putter for 5 years so this
is going to help get my hands a little
bit higher and putting on this thing
it's instant feedback so it's stroke
work it's not about making all of these
putts if the putts go in it means I did
something right if it doesn't go in that
means I hit the pegs basically so it's
more the stroke work not necessarily
about making all of these putts I'm
concerning myself with whether or not I
made a good stroke and I accomplished
what I wanted to accomplish
[Music]
all right guys rolled all those putts
that putter is so good going to go out
on the golf course now switching my
routine my my my usual yeah routine up
usually I'll hit a few balls first if I
want to go play but it's beautiful day
there's no one out here let's go play
some holes there's been a lot of
requests for you guys from you guys so
I'm going to show you three more holes
on the golf course today three holes you
haven't seen it Northampton and we'll
just kind of talk my way through it not
very windy pretty scorable out here so
maybe we can talk through some birdies
let's
[Music]
go here we are the fifth hole at
Northampton played the first four warmed
up for you guys I'm actually one under
par birdi three fifth hole it's about a
380 yard hole if you can see out in the
distance right there there's a bunker
that Bunker's 290 from the te so that's
kind of where I aim because I hit less
than driver over here there's a bunker
that's about 260 to carry the wind's
typically going this way a little
helping off the right so I aim with
three-wood basically right at the edge
of that left side of that bunker and
just let it kind of come back into the
Fairway and even if I hit it straight
3-wood won't reach that bunker so I just
take a club that takes that bunker out
of play that bunker out of play and will
still give me a sand wedge or lob wedge
in I pulled that thing a little bit but
as you can see I covered this bunker and
I wouldn't have had enough to reach that
bunker so I've got 83 yards to that
front pin pretty soft green so go right
at it okay that thing jumped a little
bit out of the rough but still pretty
good looks like it's about 12 ft past
the hole so make it little birdie P it
was actually about 18 ft straight
downhill it was a pretty easy putt I
just nearly missed it on the low side
pretty good example of potentially
letting one get away from you that's a
hole where a lot of guys would be making
a birdie didn't hit a great t-shot so
I'm in the rough harder to control it
out of this Bermuda rough this time of
year here jumped a little bit on me
still had a chance at birdie but we're
coming up to a par five very getable par
five it's one of those ones where you
stand up on this te and go make sure you
get it in play because if you do you're
going to have a mid toong iron to reach
this green too so as I was saying here's
the next toll it's a Gable par five
these bunkers here on the right they're
not in play they're coverable I can
carry that over here that bunker on the
left is in play if I do pull it but
that's quite a bit offline the Green's
just around the corner so ultimately if
you can see where the tree is here on
the Left End I'm just aiming at that and
let the golf ball cut back if I get it
on the right side of this Fairway there
is a bit of a down slope that lets it
chase out a little bit more and I'll
have around 200 yards in I believe this
hole is about
540 from back here maybe a little less
you can get a lot out of your drive if
you hit it on the right side of this
faway so let's do it so I hung it out to
the right just a little bit but I'm just
a couple feet into the rough here uh the
hole is about 515 520 not 540 so if you
can see the flag got a little bit of
tree issues for my visual but not for
the actual shot I only have 195 the
wind's a little into off the right which
actually makes it a great five iron
there is water like this is a risk
reward hole if you were a little further
back but this is something where you've
got to go for it you have a five iron in
your hands you have enough Club to cover
the water which would probably only be
about 170 and if you do hit it a little
bit left into that bunker or a little
long left you've got a pretty easy chip
and up and down look at birdie so 195
just going to smooth a five iron and try
to float it in there to that
flag that's really good guys I uh
couldn't hit a better shot I think that
might be like 5T 5T how about 5 in holy
crap look at this
thing that's a kick in Eagle so all of a
sudden we're three under through six
holes there's a perfect example of not
getting frustrated or not kind of
pushing when you feel like you let a
birdie opportunity pass you by by not
making birdie from 80 yards just hit two
good shots nothing fancy nothing great
and all of a sudden you make an eagle
and now you're three under through six
holes it's just because of attitude it's
just because of patience and it's just
because of sticking to a game plan and
not pushing unnecessarily there's no
reason to push just because you don't
make the the birdie you're supposed to
make or the par you're supposed to make
whatever level you're at there's no
reason to push patience is everything
this is the last toll I'll show you guys
for this little session of three holes
it's basically our signature all out
here beautiful beautiful par three this
is the seventh hole really really lovely
Par 3 it's playing 197 to that flag that
flag I don't even care about it if you
look right in the middle of the green
the kind of biggest bank of rocks that's
166 so I'm 170 to cover the water online
with the middle of the green and the way
that this green is it's shaped this way
so if I take enough club to go pin high
and mishit it or pull it or push it I'm
in that bunker or I'm in the water that
bunker guaranteed bogey because it's
just such a difficult shot the way the
green slopes I'm basically looking at
185 to 190 is the yardage I want to hit
it right the middle of the green the
wind's a little into the face off the
left this is just a smooth six iron
don't have to get too uh greedy with it
just want to hit a good shot give myself
a putt get par get the heck out of here
didn't hit a very good shot kind of
floated it out to the front right of the
green so now I just have a pretty good
task ahead of me to tput this so I can't
be too disappointed wasn't an awesome
shot but but it's good enough so I hit
that about 45 ft it was still a
difficult pot I just had to get the
speed right and I did cozy it up there 2
and 1/2 ft so a nice easy par so seven
holes three under par and didn't really
do anything fancy made one good
15-footer and hit a second shot in a par
five too inside a foot this is a round
where I'm going to keep doing what I'm
doing I'm not going to get fancy I'm not
going to push there's birdies to be made
like if I were playing the full 18 holes
there's two reachable par fives left a
driveable par 4 wedges into par fours as
well this is a round that could be a 5
six 7 8 under par round but that's not
what I'm thinking just want to keep
hitting good shots keep myself in play
and give myself opportunities these
three holes are far far different than
the three holes we did a few weeks ago
up in the wind there's not really a
breath out here played Seven holes hit
100 putts I'm going to go work out on
the Range one good thing about doing
this first playing some holes first is
you you just get your mind in a golf and
you can kind of of take note of the
things you were doing well and the
things you weren't doing so well and
then go to the range and put some work
in on that so that's what I'm going to
do I think I'm going to end this here
though I think this is a pretty cool
first episode back I've got just a
Renewed Energy for the Vlog taking two
weeks off vlogging has been really
really good for me I've had a time to to
sit and think about some cool ideas to
do upcoming I've been taking note of a
lot of the questions that have been
coming up on the comments below yes I
answer them and there's a few that have
been really prominent and sticking out
and I think they would be good to to
answer like this in a couple days time
I'm going to film a Q&A going to try to
maybe do a monthly Q&A that'd be a
really cool thing if you'd like to do a
monthly Q&A let me know let me know down
below it'd be really fun just to keep
things current and try to get as many
answers out there in case you have a
question that someone else asked in the
comments and you didn't see that answer
having it here would be a really cool
thing to do so let me know let me know
if you'd think a monthly Q&A is
something worth doing make sure you give
this video a thumbs up subscribe if you
haven't I can't thank you guys enough
for coming along this journey season 2
I'm pumped I'm ready to rock I'm ready
to do this so I'll see you guys in a
couple days peace
