Also includes some sgraffito carved pieces fired to cone 4.
[laughter]
Okay, this is a cone 4 clear glaze
firing using BMX 5 clay um with a bunch
of my black and white car pieces and
also some what I call Nova Scotia mist
and some stencil pieces using light blue
slip, dark blue slip and white clay. So
um so we'll just show you a few of these
because Um, there'll be a lot of repet
repetition. This is what I call Nova
Scotia mist clay and glaze. Um, so it's
like showing the the schooners in the
fog.
When I moved here, I thought of this
straight away cuz it's like so foggy on
days like today.
So, these are basically done with paper
stencils
and then a glaze that has root tile in
it. It's a clear glaze basically with a
bit of cobalt and about 7% of routile
which gives it that mistiness.
And then I'll show you all these because
they're all different. Um these are
scito carb mugs. They're smaller than I
usually do cuz it's Christmas. I figured
these would be, you know, quick selling
pieces.
And I ran out of time when I was doing
them. So I quickly carved a few stripe
mugs.
they dry out and I make a bunch of this,
you know, at the same time. And so, um,
I have to carve them while they're in
the right condition. And I was running
out of time.
So, I have two of those. I don't do
these very often,
but um, but just, you know, scito
and
another lobster boat. It was dumping day
yesterday. That's what this one
represents because everybody races out
to the the [snorts]
Outer Banks and um to put their traps
in. Um and uh I think there's like 800
boats go out.
This one is the first time I've done
anything like this. It was the three
churches in Mahome Bay. So only a local
person would be interested in this. And
boy, I regret starting this one cuz it
took forever to carve.
But it looks great.
Another schoona.
Spooners at sunset.
And a mixture of schooners and lobster
boats.
And this one's stormy stormy night.
He's racing to get back to shore. And
there should be another one chasing
after him. I like doing the stormy ones.
Go.
I think I have a few whales in there.
Here's another stormy race.
So, all these will be put on the shelves
tomorrow
um for we we're closed on Wednesdays and
Thursdays at the moment and I'll put
these out tomorrow or Friday morning.
This will be a big weekend. It's the
Thanksgiving week. I've been doing a lot
of filming of some new pieces and new
new videos in the last several days cuz
Christmas is coming. I want to post a
whole bunch so that I don't have to
think about it over the holidays.
a little way over time.
This is one I have never tried before.
It's the whales in reverse, which I
think it looks pretty good. So, I'll be
doing more of these.
The last one of these
is just schooners.
So on these next two levels, there will
be more of these Nova Scotia Mist.
These are large mugs.
The rest is even taller.
So there's a whole bunch of these in
here. And then I have the dark blue
version
which is
I have four of these I think on order at
the moment.
>> [music]
>> Happy birthday.
[music]

[music]
[music]
>> This video is going to be about a kiln
unloading with all sorts of little ex
kind of, you know, the result of a whole
bunch of experiments I've done this year
with glaze tests and decorating and
stuff like that. So these ones are all
tenu [music] gold with variegated blue
and oatmeal. um slip trail over, [music]
you know. So, basically that should run
a lot.
Over here, I've got an assault pieces
that [music] I basically been doing to
actually uh try out the strontium
crystal magic on mugs because there's a
much bigger area to run on those [music]
pieces. Uh I've got some more over here.
Um and there's an assortment of glazes
there. And I tried my new blue and my
speckled blue which always crumbled
[music]
and mixed it together with my dark blue.
So we have a nice test for a new blue in
this kiln. Um it says speckled blue new
in the picture there. Um and it's
basically
speckled blue which crumbles a lot when
you glaze with it. So it's not very
useful for a glaze. And then my new my
bright sorry my dark blue which actually
is a great glaze. Um it stays on the
surface really well. mix the two
together. And as you can see,
it hasn't crumbled.
So, that's going to be very useful if it
works. Um, and I've got some experiments
here, which I'll describe in a video
soon, but I've got a couple of them
there.
Well, here goes.
I have some tests in here.
I showed you them before the firing.
First impression.
Looks like we got some good results.
Let's put some lights on.
Okay, [snorts]
so the ones that I was doing, the dots
seem like they didn't run. They just
spread out a little bit. I was hoping
they would run down. And that's because
with this firing, I didn't do a soak.
Uh, I usually only do a short soak, 11
minutes, but then I do a longer one at
1750 for 30 minutes. [snorts] Um, in
actual fact, um, there's some strontium
crystal magic pieces in this firing. So,
um, there's going to be a fine balance
here between making runs and making too
much running. So, but anyway, this is
definitely okay. I just hoped it was be
running down a little bit. So, that
means the rest of them will be like
that, too. So, here was another one.
But I'm quite happy with them. They're
on speckled clay, so it doesn't show up
the tender gold as much. [snorts] And we
have some speckles,
but not a huge amount. But as you can
see,
the gold does have some speckles in it.
That one ran a little because I did
stripes.
Cheated.
I have to remember that if I want in
this type of firing, but I I'm kind of
liking the flowing, but there's a lot
more technical gold speckles in this.
So, even with no soak, I got some
speckles. But I had a slow pool in it.
Same again here. Good speckles. In fact,
it's a kind of nice balance.
Any more of those? Yes.
These have been selling very well for
me, too. I had $2 extra on the price of
the mug for doing all the little dots.
It's hard to price your labor.
My cat mugs that I do, I have done for
what, 40 odd years now. [snorts] Um, I
can make 12 of these in the time it
takes to make one cat mug.
Now, here we have a saunting crystal
magic wand.
And it didn't do too much running, but
just enough. So, that actually worked
pretty good cuz I just had it in the
upper bit. I didn't do too much of it.
But you can see the way it ran down
around here, which was that's a lot of
running 2 in from just a little bit of
strong crystal magic. But maybe that's a
good omen for the rest.
[snorts]
Wow, that's a really nice run, too. You
can tell cuz you could It takes off all
the glaze from the rim area a little
bit. And this one had some variegated
blue and oatmeal on top of it as well.
[snorts] But that's really pretty.
My greens are doing really nice at the
moment.
And then I have a whole bunch of
uh Oh, that's interesting.
Something must have been in the glaze.
But it's not sharp at all. But there's a
little mark on there.
>> This piece I thought when I opened it
was uh going to be my new blue, but it's
actually licorice with oatmeal over the
top. Um and it has a little bit of a
blue hint. Then I have a whole bunch of
Let's do this one first, then we'll go
to the whole bunch. I'm too eager to get
to them.
>> This is actually my new blue with
strontium crystal magic. Now, a whole
bunch of these where I'm doing the
nighttime Icelandic. I I've started
dabbing a bit of variegated blue and
oatmeal on the rim as well as just
having the black go to the rim. So, I
like this better.
And then variegated blue on the bottom
there. And there's a different variation
of that.
Uh I don't think I have it in here. It
must have on a lower level. Well, I got
another small kil pack as well. So,
there's a lot of these. So, I won't show
you any more of these cuz they're all
the same as this. But these turned out
really nice.
Yeah, I just tried that and people loved
it straight away. [snorts]
This time of the year, I sell mugs
almost straight away when I put them out
on the shelves cuz it's Christmas.
Okay, the next layer down. I've got
three large pieces here coming out.
[snorts] One of these I don't usually
fire these as much in the electric kils
because I have to lower the the rate of
the fire and slow it down. [snorts]
um same temperature but basically I fire
it very slowly which uses more energy up
but anything flat mural wise large needs
to be fired slowly so I just slowly go
up and slowly tech I'm adding about 5 6
hours to the length of the firing when I
do these
oh good crack that's the first thing
[snorts]
this is using that slot clay
that I'm actually trying to figure out
how to use slot clay up without having
to pug it. Um, but of course it's like
trying to eat your way out of a notweed
problem. You're just not going to be
able to do it. You have to hire a herd
of 10 20 goats to eat all the notweed
cuz you can't eat enough. It's supposed
to notweed is Japanese notweed is
supposed to be really nice. If you if
you pick it when it's less than 10 in
high, it tastes like asparagus
apparently. But anyway, um this is all
from slop, you know, clay slops like I
was doing in the tea ball video. And
I'll do a video on this as well coming
up. But I just wanted to test it first.
[snorts]
And if you can see, it's huge amount of
texture.
I'll give you some close-ups here. All
textured slip slops
applied with pallet knives
to create the hillside landscape effect
just like I do my cove plates and then
sponge stamped with all my different
glazes. I think that worked out pretty
good especially cuz I have another one
to match up to this one.
And there's the other one. This has got
my new yellow in which is so much nicer
than that bright yellow that I had which
would just bounce too much in these. But
that's the other hillside. So this is a
mural. Two of them together.
Now can anybody
see my inspiration here?
Who I what I was using to inspire me?
I mean, there's a lot of things that
could inspire me here, but I had one
artist in general that I was looking at
some work to try and inspire the
textures and all that.
Keep guessing.
There's a whole bunch more big tankers
coming out here. Some of which are
ordered.
>> [snorts]
>> So, I have a large
tankered
tent gold and variegated blue speckles
on there.
Here's one where I did the cheat and did
some stripes instead of dots [snorts] so
we could make things run. Just isn't
running as much because there's no soak
on this. firing
and another tanker here as well.
That one's very nice. I think they
turned out pretty good. This is a nice
subtle. If I don't overpower with the
oatmeal, I think they're better. So,
smaller dots with the oatmeal, baby.
Now, do I have one of those dark blue
ones? I'm looking to see how my dark
blue test was, but I don't see one.
What's this?
Well, once again, I thought this piece
was actually my new blue u because it
does have a little bit of a blue hint,
but in actual fact, it's the licorice
with strontium crystal magic and oatmeal
over the top. Um I'm still looking for
the bright blue. Um the new blue, but I
think I it's actually going to end up
looking almost the same as my bright
blue.
You see, stunting crystal magic runs so
much that you've got to be really
careful with it. [snorts]
But if you can get that firing schedule
just right, you won't lose any pieces
from the runs. I just posted a lot of
pictures on Facebook of the tea balls
that are going to be in the video coming
up. And here we go.
Here is another
Get you a bit closer. Another one of the
black nighttime ones over the speckled
clay. Same on the rim. I love the rim
better now. The smoother, glossier
surface is always nicer to drink out of
rather than this. This matte black is
sort of silky, but it's still [snorts]
not totally shiny.
And I think people prefer to have that
edge to drink out of. Here's another
strontium crystal magic with [snorts]
the runs. And that's what causes the
runs. It's over the uh number 16, I
think this is.
Yeah, it looks like it's my number 16
glaze or it could be variegated blue
because they're very similar. They're
both a sort of gray glaze,
but that looks really pretty.
So, Stront Crystal Magic, I can really
make a a good use for it this year cuz
it's a glaze I've kind of stayed away
from a little bit. Here's another one of
those new dark blues. Wow.
I'm hoping I've got that right. But this
is really good with the runs coming
down. I should have written on there,
but there's no nothing that looks. I mix
my dark blue with my sort of pastel
speckle blue.
So, I was expecting a darker blue.
Um, and it it could even be this one.
I'm going to have to test another test
because um
I also have licorice which that could be
licorice
cuz there's a bit of cobalt in the
licorice too.
But um but these are really pretty
tankers.
[snorts]
That one didn't want to come up.
Give you a nice look at that one.
Lots of runs. And there's a sort of
speckled blue in there, but it's not
dark. So, I think that [snorts] is
probably variegated blue.
Another one there. Look at the length of
the run down in underneath the handle
there. Shows you how far that's crystal
magic up there. Only dipped to the the
double [snorts] neck uh double rib area
there.
And then it ran down 2 in more.
Here's another one of the greens.
Really pretty.
And this is the blue green copa red.
And then I have three more of the black
ones. So I want to show you all these
cuz we're really not trying to
take up too much of your time here. Just
giving you glaze with cuz my I've been
posting the recipes in all the videos.
Help people out for next year. Get some
new glaze combos going.
All right, that's that kilm. We'll do
the next little kiln.
There's a [snorts] shocker.
the chrome tin pink.
Isn't that weird? This is my oatmeal,
which has tin in it. Um, and somewhere
in this kil we had uh, well, we just
took them out. The, um, chrome was in
some of the glazes and, uh, it really
affected the oatmeal big time there. And
I have people who order this and say
they want to make sure this is white,
not pink. So, that's an issue.
But certainly doesn't look like the snow
anymore, does it? The outside looks
great.
Well, some people like that pink and
they ask me if I can get it
deliberately. [snorts] I just say if I'm
lucky
or unlucky, I guess.
This is the licorice again.
I think it's confusing me because where
it hits the matte turquoise, there's a
little hint of blue down there, but I'm
pretty sure that is the licorice and
that's over the red clay cuz that's why
it looks so dark.
And the yellow over the top of the
turquoise, the the um blue, green,
copper, red looks really nice there. And
it's actually got strontium crystal
magic on the top if you can just see
there.
Okay, now I'm going to unload all these
boxes from this kil. And I did take one
out. Uh I put it at the end of the last
video because uh I just wanted to it
with this with all the other stuff.
[snorts] Um and I noticed that they're
really dusty because of the aluminum
hydrate and I'm a bit worried about
breathing that in. So I'm just going to
loosen the lids, but I'm not going to
take them off cuz that's when the little
cloud of dust came off. And it's like
silica. Uh it's it it's something that
you probably should not brea be
breathing in for your lung health. So um
so I'm going to show you them, but I'm
just going to release them a touch to
show that it worked. Um but um we won't
actually take the lid off completely cuz
otherwise that dust comes up. So let's
see if we can see what we got in here.
Okay, this was the one yesterday.
So I didn't even have to knock it. It
came loose on its own.
What about this one?
Yep, it's very loose in its own as well.
Let's show you the actual tops here.
So, there you go. That's the top of that
one.
Here's that blue one again. I can see
little white powdery dust falling off
them as I actually
lift and put them down.
So, it's something that I think you can
do safely. This one. Look at that.
Instantly just moves. Perfect. Last time
when I did these, I broke two of them.
Just tapping the lids trying to get them
off. The texture did not show through
much on that one at all.
So, um, the glaze is probably a bit too
thin. But once again, you don't have to
do anything. It just loosens up straight
away.
Wiggle the shelf when you unpack a kil.
Make sure the stilt doesn't fall on your
piece.
stilts on the bottom so they didn't
warp.
Ah, this one's now. Oh, yeah, it did
came off. I was going to say I had to
tap them last time and it really was
hard to get some of them off, but look
at the nice texture of the chattering
tool that Bill sent me.
There's another one.
Yeah. Well, just instant. I'm going to
do it slowly. You see all that powder?
So, we definitely have to remove that.
I'm going to take them outside to do
that. I'll use a brush outside and wear
a mask. Look, I was just holding that
one above that one. The powder just fell
down over it.
So, that's the secret. I wax resisted
them and [snorts] then I used the
aluminina hydrate just to actually make
sure they don't stick to each other. Um,
and aluminum is in clay. It's in
everything. So, um, you know that we
actually it's the most common mineral on
the planet. Look at the chattering
again. Really pretty chattering.
This one always shows up. Well, ah, that
was from the tongs when I dipped it.
Must have been a bit of iron on the
tong. But, um, there you go. That's how
I f these are the stilts I made in the
video recently. They're working
terrific.
Absolutely perfect as far. Oh,
chattering.
really nice.
So the bottoms I just have to use emery
paper. Just rub it over lightly and it
will remove the actual
Look at that. Beautiful.
Bet somebody come in upstairs. That's
the 10m gold.
Don't even have to guess. It's just
going to be loose every time.
That one less visible in the chattering,
but you can still see it. Little greeny
texture and pattern marks.
That one, the texture is there, but it
doesn't it's a texture. There's not a
pattern involved there at all.
Loose instantly.
Got some nice ones in here.
I can see the dust falling back into the
kil.
How about that for a pattern?
Really pretty.
There's another one. Beautiful pattern.
Transparent glazes show much more than
opaque glazes is that anything that has
tin won't show the pattern as much,
[snorts] but this has a little bit of
tin in this one
in the glaze.
And it rotates instantly.
Blue, green, copper, red there. Look at
that pattern.
Building up some high points here.
No earthquakes hopefully in the next few
minutes. And there is the blue, green,
copper, red with another beautiful
pattern texturing which is chattering.
And then the last little a few four more
to go.
There's the yellow.
This is my new yellow. Much much softer,
less sharp.
Now, there's a lot of work in these.
That one less successful as a texture,
but the purple is a bit opaque.
And that's the mouse gray.
And this one is apple green. Beautiful
texture that showed the pattern through
quite well. Really nice. Okay, that's it
for that kill. So, the boxes are all
successful.
Okay, the aluminum hydrate worked great
cuz they all come off really easily.
Let's tilt it down a bit. So, they
really did not stick. I didn't have to
tap any of them to get them out. I could
just do that. But I noticed the dust was
falling a little bit um uh when I was
taking off. So, I took them outside,
brushed them all down, and then I
noticed that inside
a little bit of the aluminum hydrate
dropped into the inside of the piece.
Now, I can sand that if I wanted to, but
[snorts] it's just as easy just to put
some extra oatmeal glaze over that area
and actually refire these. Um, there's
only about four of them that did this.
[snorts] But I did the aluminum hydrate
on the lid and put because I thought
that was the place where it would be
least uh were easy to do. Um, and I
think just a touch of it because it was
full after it was peak temperature
[snorts] and it was cooling down. I
think some of it as dust was falling
down into the actual jar itself. And
that's why we have a dry spot [snorts]
in an area just inside the jar.
And and like I said, I'm going to get
some oatmeal glaze and just put a whole
pile of that down inside the ones that
did this. Uh and they'll be fine. Um but
um and then I'm going to put aluminum
hydrate again on this area where it
can't fall on the inside of the piece.
And I'm assuming
that, you know, it's not going to fall
off because there's a sharp corner
there. It won't fall down and then get a
dry spot just in there. But [snorts] now
I have an even another step I have to
do. So I'm glad I found this cuz
[snorts] if anybody else is trying this,
just remember aluminum hydrate on that
part, not on the inside flange where it
can fall on the inside of the piece.
Okay. This is what I would term a
regular firing with this new profile
that I've developed for the uh Strontium
Crystal Magic. So, I can use it as a
regular glaze in my [snorts] regular
firings without worrying about it
running everywhere. So, first one I'm
going to take out is just a commission.
Somebody wanted a absolute matte black
vase. It's a Christmas present for
somebody. I just put my oatmeal glaze on
the inside. But that glaze is so
predictable. doesn't run at all and it's
just a a satin. It's not totally matte.
It's a satin.
Okay. Now, I made some large chip and
dip platters and I used strunting
crystal magic in these. Um, and you can
see it just on its own there with
nothing else on it at all. Um, and then
I dipped my bright blue across the ends
and I put variegated blue in the center.
Um, so so it's working. No glaze drips,
not even off the areas up here. Oh,
actually I didn't put it over there
because I was worried about I might get
glaze drips coming off the handles. So
I'm I'm playing with it with caution.
Um, but that's a nice chip and dip. And
these are for next year. So I I decided
I put five on this. So I thought, no,
I'm going to put a six on this. This is
2026. So this piece doesn't exist yet.
And then these are the boxes that I
refired.
So let's see. Oh, yeah. Good. We got rid
of the roughness on the inside by
putting that oatmeal down there. And um
so I'll still need to brush off that. Um
but you you've got to be wary. That's
why I showed you in the in the firing
that if [snorts] you're going to put
this um aluminum hydrate on, don't put
it so it can fall on the inside. Put it
on the bit and it didn't fall down the
edges and make it rough on the outside.
So, that was good. It's possible I had
it on too thick, too, but um cuz I don't
usually use aluminum hydrate like that.
Another one. Yep. Gone glossy on the
inside. So, we got a nice glossy inside
to the piece.
So, these were saved. Look at the
beautiful chattering.
Now these are
similarly strontium crystal magic dipped
[snorts] about halfway down and then the
yellow dipped all the way down to there
with the oatmeal just dipped a touch on
the rim but just barely a rim touch. Um
and I left the clay natural on the
underside because you can really see the
chattering.
So, I think that's a nice finish to the
bottom of the piece, even though it's
not glazed.
Matte turquoise. Same as the last piece,
but with matte turquoise. So, these
pieces I'm now bit more confident about
strontium crystal magic. So, I'm dipping
it about halfway down. [snorts]
And um on some of the pieces in the
mugs, let's hope for the best. I glazed
all the way to the bottom over the top
of the strontium which was glazed
halfway down. But you still get the
runs, but they're just not running far
enough down because I'm not not
including that soak. It's a slow pool
without a soap. Here is another chip and
dip.
[snorts] Matte turquoise crystal magic
across the center. So I was pouring it
like this across here and then across
this side and then doing the matte
turquoise that way and this way. And
[snorts] then I did variegated blue in
the center and on the outside of the
bowl.
Looks good.
[snorts]
Okay. So, here's some mugs where I
glazed all the way down as I normally
do. Glaze the bottom. Glaze the chun
green in this case down to the bottom.
Strontian crystal magic to there. And
then the the ch the variegated boot and
oatmeal went over the top here. And so
we still get the runs, but they're not
running down to the bottom. So isn't
that nice? You can control the runs. I
could even do a maybe a 5 minute soak
and I'll get more runs, but then you
going to get the danger of
of them running to the bottom. But look
at that one.
What a nice runs.
And I didn't glaze the foot, but I did
glaze right the way down so you can see
the chattering again.
Another chun green. Same as the last
one.
Apple green.
There's that yellow line you get with
the apple green because it has root
island in there and the iron is
separating out a little bit to create
that yellow line.
Matte turquoise. We've got one big run
there. And a lot of these have that nice
textural feeling from the the the sort
of clay slops being sort of carved and
rad over the surface. So they have a
natural feeling of holding a piece of
rock. Here's
a blue, green, copper, red.
Same thing again. So, it'll be strong
and crystal magic halfway variegated
blue and oatmeal just on the rims. That
is very pretty. It's very different to
the oatmeal that I used to get a similar
effect.
Another
blue, green, copper, red. Boy, I like
these.
And all of them have oatmeal on the
inside.
And I got 2026 on this one. This one
doesn't exist either.
I got so much inventory in the gallery.
I'm just going to box these up. [snorts]
Wouldn't it be interesting because you
can actually I could perhaps draw in the
clay
because I've got these the slip random
slip stuff but we could really just
start doing abstract decoration across
the piece with the slips which is pretty
much what I'm doing anyway but with the
elements of figuriveness so you don't
want to get like fossil like qualities
press shells into the clay and stuff.
It'd be really interesting to do that.
And this is over which clay? This is
just my white stone wear.
Yep, it's just the white stoneware.
There's a nice chattering effect there.
This is the blue, green, copper, red,
turquoise, variegated blue oatmeal over
the
Look at that glaze surface.
These are beautiful tea balls, guys.
Okay, we've got another big chip and dip
platter. We're about halfway down the
kil now. This one turned out beautiful.
What about the underside? Yeah, no
running at all on this one either.
That's a nice glaze. I think this is
chun green with the strontium crystal
magic across that way and up here. And
then chun green going down this way and
that way. just pouring the glaze
[snorts] and and then in the center I
did chun green very thick so it's gone
much darker in the bowl but there's a
lot of variation in that piece
[snorts]
and then I did some big bowls
and these are in speckled clay actually
I think it was the recycled clay Um,
so look at the runs really controlling
that strontium crystal magic
and lots of beautiful chattering.
That's artisan pottery tools. If you
need any deductions at the end of the
year, just go look at all those
chattering tools. They all work. They
just give different effects.
And there's the inside.
So, a little bit of strontium crystal
magic just at the touch on the rim on
this on the inside. [snorts] Ch uh blue
green copper red over the whole bowl.
And then I did variegated blue and
oatmeal on the very rim just to get some
thickness to get some runs.
Here's another chun green mug.
And another one the same.
So I was able to glaze the whole way
down.
It's so predictable at this point.
Here's one you haven't seen yet in this
bit. This is Folk Art White with apple
green over the rim with the Stronting
Crystal Magic underneath. So the Folk
Art White gets a lot more matte when you
do that.
Very subtle. And there's the slip on
this one, too.
Sort of a spiral created in the slip.
Variegated blue and oatmeal over the top
of I can't remember, but we got a lot of
thickness there where the glaze is
running down.
I am I'm thinking this is blue green
copper red.
This is chun green again. And there's
this the thick slip. You can see how it
was applied.
It looks funny when you do it in the raw
clay, but look how nice it looks when
you get it out of the kil with a glaze
over it. much more natural effect and
really nice nice chattering.

Okay, this is the last level
[snorts]
cuz I' got tall pieces in this firing
with these big bowls. So, apple green on
the bottom
with bright blue
and the storont crystal magic underneath
the bright blue on the rim with some
variegated blue and oatmeal
on the rim afterwards. And the center is
just the bright blue storm crystal magic
just on the rim maybe, you know, one or
two centimeters, you know, an inch and
then the variegated blue and oatmeal
place over the top and then it runs like
crazy all the way down.
I have a bunch of the folk art white
ones
with the apple green on the rim. So soon
crystal magic is about dipped halfway
down on all of these.
Folk art white and apple green over the
top.
So where the Folk Art white is on its
own, it's shiny down the bottom there.
And then as soon as you get the
strontium crystal magic, you get that
matte quality. And the apple green is
just dipped to about there over the top.
This is nice. This is my new yellow. And
[snorts] look at the beautiful color
texture in strontian crystal magic
halfway down. You can see the line of
it. It didn't run much. So you don't get
lots of runs, but you get that matte
quality. And then you've got the
separation out of the minerals in the
strontium crystal magic with the butter
yellow against that. That is really nice
and orange where they touch.
And then the inside is apple is oat. My
regular oatmeal shiny shiny liner grade
glaze.
I love that one. That's a summer mug.
Once [snorts] again, my new yellow.
What a combo. That's strontium crystal
magic over the top. And there's nothing
over the top of the stront of the u you
just got strontium crystal magic. And my
new yellow dipped all the way up on the
piece and that's it. Nothing added on
the top. But look at the variation.
White clay again.
Got a little bit of batwash on them. But
there I'll have to grind that off. Just
a tiny little speck of it. And look,
there's the slip that was added on to
give it texture.
>> [snorts]
>> So full car white
fronting crystal measure first then foc
on the rims
are coming off easy. [snorts] Same
again.
Same again. Got some nice runs with it
though.
Oh, the first one that ran a lot and I
would have expected this. This is
variegated blue, which is noted for
running. But look, it did it all the way
around. And the only place is under the
handle where we're getting a little bit
I'll have to grind off. That'll be easy.
But that's what I expect with variegated
[snorts] blue. It runs on its own at the
best of times. But always with strontium
crystal magic, we got a much bigger run,
but only a little bit to dr to grind.
That's the last. Oh no, one more mug.
Let's see whether that one ran down too.
Identical. How predictable is that?
Right where the handle cuz the glaze on
the handle's flowing down too. So we're
joining with the base. It gives you that
extra run at the bottom. So I got two to
But you know, look at all the colors.
But that's quick grinding on that one.
Then I have a bunch of bottles that are
just regular glaze. There's no strontium
crystal magic put on these.
There's just a bunch of bottles for my
apple uh for my chicken roasters.
I had lots of requests after I posted
[snorts] the video on making these. Um,
but to go to the States, it was adding a
lot with the tariff that goes on. Um,
[snorts] cuz they're 79 and then the
tariff was coming back sometimes and
adding another 20 odd. Um, and then the
shipping just made them too expensive.
So I think the tariff came back at like
uh 2650
on top of that. What it means is you
just miss the dollar exchange rate which
is always an advantage for Americans
coming to Canada because you [snorts]
get a $140 for every American dollar but
that's wiped out pretty much by the
tariff. So you can still get them just
assume everything's in US dollars and um
and that wipes out the tariff.
These each have a baking dish obviously
to go with them.
Last two, two ones. That's actually both
bright blue there.
