Hard Enduro vs Classic Enduro. Which off-road discipline is best? And is Billy Bolt the really the most skilled dirt bike racer in the world? These are just two of the questions that we tried to answer when we visited the first ever Fast Eddy's Extreme Enduro Super Series. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below! The first round of this brand new championship saw superstar Extreme Enduro World champion Billy Bolt - of the Factory Husqvarna squad - go head to head against Brad Freeman who is an 8x World Champion from the classic Enduro GP scene. Who will reign supreme? Let's find out!
Hard enduro versus classic enduro. Which discipline is best and which one has the best riders?
That's what this video is all about, so let me do some explaining. This track looks horrendous,
you wouldn't catch me riding here in a million years. Luckily for us though,
some of the world's best enduro riders are on hand to show us how it's done.
We're here today at the first ever Fast Eddie Extreme Enduro Super Series,
and they've managed to attract multiple world champions to come and give this race a bash.
Riders from across the enduro world and the different disciplines will go head-to-head
today to prove who's the best. There's going to be carnage and there's going to be some
incredible bike skills on show, so let's go racing. Before we get to the showdown between
hard enduro world champion Billy Bolt and reigning E3 world champ Brad Freeman,
let's first sit back and enjoy some beautiful carnage from the support classes. Carnage is
always fun to watch, but we came here to see the showdown between two world champions.
We came to work out which discipline is better, classic enduro or hard enduro, and we came to see
if Billy Bolt truly is the most skilled dirt bike racer in the world.
But before we get into the action, let's meet our champions. So here we are at the first ever Fast
Eddie Extreme Enduro Super Series, that's what it's called right? You probably know more than me
to be honest, I've just turned up. So I'm here with the one and only Mr Billy Bolt, tell us
why you've come to race this event here today in lovely conditions. I always like to come and
support races in the UK, I guess you would say this is the equivalent of what used to be
the Eddie's Extreme at Tong, that's obviously not running this year, this is the replacement,
and I think it's a good thing you know, there's nothing wrong with trying something new and
looking at the track, I think it definitely has potential. I think the sand sections are really
nice, it's almost kind of like a western vibe, it's kind of got me a little bit excited really,
I'm not obviously going to be at Western, so the sand bits look really nice, I almost wish they'd
done that on the racetrack side as well, but I obviously understand they don't want to completely
destroy the place for the sake of a few blocks of headlights wanting to have a tear up in January,
but you know it is what it is, I think it's not really what anyone's used to, nice to see some of
the Enduro GP boys come out there, so it means everyone can kind of get amongst it and have a
tear up, and we've got two one-hour races which I think is going to be tough, tough going today,
and then first round of the British Sprint Championship tomorrow which I think I'll do as
well, so something different and just a bit of fun. We've got one of our contenders here today,
Brad Freeman, you must be feeling pretty confident coming to this race, I've seen on Instagram that
you've been down here a lot slogging it out during the winter, so looking forward to it?
Yeah definitely, no it's just nice to get the first race out of the way, you know it's good
to be back racing and a bit of a different sort of style of event for us, you know extreme,
not really something that we normally do, it's going to be a good race I think, we've got Billy
here and you know a few other riders, so good for the public as well, you know to have a look at
some good racing and yeah I've been putting some good work in, so you know I've been feeling good
around there and you know a little bit different to just riding a motocross track eh, but anyway
we're going to give it our best and it should be a good day. You said it there, the Enduro GP
riders, Brad's here, how excited are you to go bar to bar with him, it's not something we get
to see very often is it? We raced once last year when I went to the Enduro GP but I only really
did half a job at it then, I didn't really you know put much of a fight to him, I was injured
with my wrist and I hadn't walked the tests and stuff like that, so I think it's a bit of a level
at today, I've been in Spain for kind of the last three months so I'm not, he's the FC, he's been
slogging it out around here quite a bit, so I think he's a bit more climatised to conditions but
at the end of the day I love racing in mud, you know I love when it gets tough, so I think it's
going to be good, you've obviously got I think McCanny and both Edmondsons and stuff like that,
so there's definitely a lot of competition, I really don't know what to expect to be honest,
I think there's a lot of water, so you've got to be careful of your line choice and this sand
section especially really does give us beach race vibes, so I am excited. I just talked to Billy,
he said he was really looking forward to having a ride with you, it's not something that we get to
see very often, how do you think you'll fare out there, this is kind of a mixture between your
disciplines and his discipline right, so who do you think is going to come out on top, which
discipline do you think is going to reign supreme today? Yeah definitely like you know me and Billy
are sort of from two different worlds almost, we ride both ride enduro obviously but you know
the extreme side and classic enduro is very much a different thing you know, so it's going to be
very very interesting today you know, we've got a good mix of you know motocross track, you know
some extreme parts and everything, so it's going to be a good mix, really is, I'm quite confident,
I have to say Billy, I am a little bit disappointed to come under your tent this morning and there's
not a 360 Husky under there, yeah I'm disappointed it's not here as well to be honest and I can't tell
you too much because there's no plan whatsoever, just I get a lot of messages asking if I want to
buy this, buy that, this is second edition now the 360, obviously we did the 610 a couple of years
ago which is still under, it's still in bits but it is in the process of being put back together in
a safe condition and the plan is 100% to race that at some point this year and then the 360 was the
latest edition that just joined the family last weekend and like I say it was just good timing
really, the guy messaged us asking if I want to buy it, I said yeah let's have a go, Billy Bolt
thanks very much, have a good day, cheers, seeing the first kind of practice laps here with the
novice guys out there, how do you think that's going to shape up today, you think it's going to
get deep and gnarly or do you think it'll be all right for you guys, well I think if you look at
there's a big big tailback, but anyway I think it's gonna be gnarly, you know obviously the sand
part is so wet, you know it's been that wet this past week, it's gonna be really really different
but anyway it's gonna be a good race and you know if anyone thought it was gonna be easy
I'd like to see you guys come after two hours today, we'll come see you afterwards, Brad good
luck today mate, thanks for your time, cheers, as we know the anticipation was high to see Freeman
take on Bolt in his natural habitat
things looked promising at the start of race one, both contenders were inside the top three
around the first turn and they quickly took over first and second positions, it looked like we had
the ultimate showdown on our hands until the leaders reached the big sand dune for the first
time, Bolt had control of the lead but while sitting in second, Freeman lost his footing in a
hole and went down, this left Billy all alone at the front of the pack, he stretched open a massive
gap and absolutely dominated the show, eventually lapping the entire field and after that first lap
crash, Freeman was forced to retire from the race due to a technical issue, it wasn't exactly the
showdown we were dreaming of but we still have race two coming up next, the second race began
with more fireworks and gave us a taste of that epic champion versus champion showdown, Brad pulled
the trigger on this crazy pass when disaster struck, that collision between Freeman and our
lap rider knocked Brad out of the race yet again, thankfully both riders were okay and able to line
up again on Sunday, once again this left Billy all alone at the front and we were able to just sit
back and watch him do his thing, he makes extreme enduro look like a choreographed dance that only
Billy knows the beat to, watching him dominate here made me ask myself the question, is Billy Bolt the
most skilled dirt bike racer in the world, what do you guys think? There he is, we asked the question
is Billy Bolt the most skilled dirt bike rider on planet earth, I'll let you guys decide but he's
put a pretty good, pretty strong argument forward for himself today, dominated lap the field in race
one and is dominating the show in race two after that gnarly Brad Freeman crash but Billy Bolt,
what a boy! Which enduro discipline is best and is Billy the most skilled racer there is? Let me know
your thoughts in the comments down below, it is definitely worth noting though that in the first
round of the sprint enduro championship Brad Freeman took the win ahead of Billy Bolt
so I definitely take that into consideration before you answer. As always guys my name is
Max, this is 999 Laser, until next time I'll see you at the track.
