During the Bastille Day Parade Rehearsal in July in France, our team had the chance to get briefed
on the Aster 30 missile and the SAMPT system by some of its operators. The Aster is a vertically
launched missile manufactured by Eurosam, a European consortium consisting of MBDA France,
MBDA Italy and the Thales Group. Aster 30 missiles are currently used by the French Army and Navy,
the Italian Army and Navy and the Royal Navy. Singapore just announced this month they will
purchase the system as well. Now let's hear from the men of the French Army Air Defense Squadron
12950 Thurson from Mont-de-Marsan that we interviewed in July in France.
is capable of intercepting aircraft, helicopters, drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.
We have an electrogen group because it is autonomous. We have eight missiles on a ramp
that can be erected during firing and four cylinders, two on each side, to stabilize it.
Behind we also have a G deflector, an iron plate that will absorb
the missile's deflagration so that there are no holes behind the truck and so that it does not
destabilize. The big advantage of the SAMP Mamba system is its ability to manage all
threats at 360 degrees and at an altitude of 20 kilometers. That is to say that simultaneously
it is able to treat 10 targets that go from the cruise missile that goes at a very low altitude
to a tactical theater missile that would arrive at altitudes close to 12 to 15 kilometers
in altitude. So it is its great ability, it is that it is able to manage
all these threats simultaneously at 360 degrees.
