For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne.
Hi, I'm Brad.
I'm John.
Well, New Year's Eve.
Yeah, supposedly.
Only a few more hours left.
Yes.
So, we have to do something traditional, obviously, because it's New Year's Eve, and this is
one of the songs I was hunting for and didn't manage to find.
Weirdly enough, we've never actually done this one before, which is kind of strange.
You'd think we would have at some point in time, but we haven't.
It's Humphrey, because for some reason, none of the acapella groups have actually, or none
of the other acapella groups appear to have done this, doing auld lang syne.
It's kind of like, really?
You'd think that would be a natural one that, you know, all the groups have hit up at some
point or other, but Humphrey's the only one that appears to have actually hit it up.
Go figure.
It's obviously several years old at this point.
Their version, not the song, because, you know, the text is a Scots language poem written
by Robert Burns back in 1788, which was based on an even older Scottish folk song.
And then in 1799, it was set to a traditional pentatonic tune, as they say, which has basically
become the standard.
It's pretty much the tune that everybody knows for it.
It's obviously a Scottish song, a bit strange, but there you go.
Scots, by the way, is the name of the language of Scotland, the official language of Scotland,
not English.
They had their own language, which was Scots.
Okay.
A lot of people don't actually know that.
I didn't know that.
Most people in England don't know that.
That's right.
That's where the log comes over.
That's it.
We know that.
Come on, you know.
Or now you know, or something like that, whatever it is.
Just pretend it was there.
And obviously, in the English-speaking world, it's traditionally sung to bid farewell to
No, I'm going to say it was probably New Year's Day or evening.
It's summer right now.
It's around New Year's somewhere.
Also often heard at funerals and graduations.
It was a general farewell.
Ending.
Really?
Yeah.
I've never heard of that though.
I'm sure maybe other parts of the world.
Yeah.
Yeah, not necessarily American.
I know Boy Scouts actually use it in a couple of their ceremonies.
Again, that could be European more than American.
But anyway, I wasn't a Boy Scout, but it's one of the useless facts that I actually know.
Need some water?
No, I'm going to die quietly.
You probably don't have any here anyway.
No, I don't.
All right.
So are you ready?
Yes.
All right.

Mhm.
Music Charts Daily and Quizzes and Trivia.
And Alistair.
Yep.
The Rewind, that is.
Okay.
I sure hope...
No, that's on the Replay in the Past.
That's what I mean.
It's Replay, because you're playing Quizzes and Trivia.
Hush.
Anyway, plug it over.
I know what I meant.
Right.
In two parts of unequal length.
That's right.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
I really like how they did the beginning.
I mean, the rest of it might have been done in the same fashion.
I haven't heard it yet.
But in the beginning, they did it...
I was going to say like a barbershop quartet, but it's not.
It's like a barbershop quintet.
Because there's five of them.
Which, did you notice?
Look.
The beatboxer got to sing.
Sorry.
See yesterday's video for the rant on beatboxers never getting to actually sing lyrics.
Poor beatboxers.
Anyway.
For auld lang syne.
And here's a hand, my trusty friend, that gives a hand to thine.
We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne?
Well, this is all looking...
Eddie and Sepko's blowing everywhere and ringing in here.
I checked it out.
We were supposed to sell those things on Facebook.
Oh, darn it.
Oh, yes.
Oh, well.
We're not taking them off because it'll be too much of a mess.
Anyway.
Yeah.
They didn't give him any solo lines, though.
Did you notice that?
He was the only one there who didn't have a solo section to do on.
He had a little bit of it.
But he got to sing words instead of just doing beatbox things.
So that's always a plus.
I liked that.
I think they did a decent job doing that.
They really did.
And like I said, it's one of those...
You'd imagine that all of the vocal groups like that actually would have covered it.
And it's kind of like, they're the only ones.
It's like, really?
Maybe they just had other things to do.
True.
But it's like there's basically...
You figure it's more or less there's one New Year's song.
Yeah.
So you'd think that everybody would cover it, but apparently not.
But they did.
Yes.
And we're going to kind of ring in the New Year with it.
Yes.
It's New Year somewhere.
Happy New Year.
And it's going to be New Year's here soon.
So to all of you, Happy New Year and thanks for watching.

And the other one, which is Gen X Music Rewind.
I wasn't reading it off over there.
I was concentrating to make sure I didn't mess it up.
Which is currently music shorts, music snippets, a bit of trivia with them.
That kind of thing.
Probably going to grow and have other stuff on it as well.
But for now, that's what it is.
I know.
Hopefully.
We'll see.
YouTube.
Nothing but issues with them this year.
Hopefully 2026 brings us a better year with YouTube.
We shall see.
They're probably listening to us now.
Probably.
Yeah.
They, for some reason, don't like us anyway.
So.
