Personal note: Thanks for following along. After the medical specialists I had seen for my own health issues failed, I found a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner that changed my life. My life mission is to show the world the clinical power and healing philosophy of TCM, to change the lives of as many as possible while I live.
Guys, I didn't want to make this video.
I'm tired. You know, the more I see
patients in my private practice, I had
promised myself that I would try to be
an aware, inclusive person in the
medical field that saw all the merit of
conventional medicine, but tried to
incorporate traditional Chinese medicine
as much as possible. Today, I have to be
honest, I'm going on a rant because I've
been experiencing a lot of bad medicine,
seeing a lot of careless, a lot of
excessive intervention, and really a lot
of just bad medicine being practiced,
and my patients are being harmed by it.
So, I thought in this video I'd take a
little bit of time to go on a little bit
of a freestyle rant here today about
some realizations about the current
state of medicine and what I think for
you as the person who needs the help,
what you should be very careful of. Hey
guys, Dr. Alex Hin, board licensed
doctor of acupuncture and traditional
Chinese medicine and author of the
health book master of the day. So, let's
jump in. You know, initially I had
promised myself in the field of medicine
that I would try to be a balanced point
of view. I would try to see all of the
merit of conventional medicine, the
merits of medications, the merits of
procedures and surgeries, the merits of
excessive screening. But I have to be
honest because my allegiance is to you,
the person who needs help, because I've
been sick. The more I practice medicine
and see patients and fix problems, the
more conventional doctors I talk to, the
less I respect conventional medicine. I
learned very quickly that American
healthcare isn't really strongly
interested in fixing people.
Your doctor may be, but what they're
trained in terms of the status quo kind
of healthcare, it is not designed to fix
your problem at all with almost no
exceptions. Yes, taking antibiotics for
a urinary tract infection is good. Yes,
getting surgery for a tumor is good.
Yes, maybe temporarily taking an
anti-depressant to get through a tough
phase of life is good. The more and more
as I dedicate my life to fixing people
and healing, not just giving a pill for
every ill, the more I see that people
just become sicker the longer they're on
medication. And in the short run, it
gives the illusion of wellness and the
illusion of getting better, but 20 years
later, people still have the same acid
reflux, the same depression, they have
the same gynecological problems, they
have the same migraines. You can go to
dralexhine.com/ressults
where we have dozens of patient
interviews on camera who had seen every
doctor and they don't have those
symptoms anymore. When I have something
that can fix a person's problems [music]
and that is not what I'm seeing in the
healthcare space, it is very difficult
for me to speak highly about
conventional medicine. And I say that
only because I want you to get the help.
Now, my second thought here is a more
brutal truth about people and human
nature. You know, most people really
aren't ready to heal. You know, I have
patients come in and they'll say, I'm
like, "Oh, are you how's your sleep?"
"Oh, it's good, good, good." You know,
uh, I take Trazadone, so I'm sleeping
okay. And I said, "So, I thought you
weren't on medication." "Oh, yeah, the
Trazadone helps." "Uh, what about your
mood?" "Yeah, I'm good." "Don't really
have anxiety. My Lexapro helps with
that, but I thought you said you're
good." "Oh, yeah, with with Lexapro,
it's okay." Sometimes what I see is that
most people don't actually want to heal.
And some people, it is because they just
trust their doctor's advice. But many
people, they're not ready to make the
kind of sacrifices in terms of changing
who they are as a person or changing
their life to see a permanent resolution
of their symptoms. Just like most people
in a toxic relationship won't leave
until the pain is awful, most people
won't change their health routines until
they're seriously ill, life-threatening
ill. Most of us don't change till the
pain is bad enough that we're forced to
change. Now, thought number three. Most
of us are so unconscious and lack so
much self-awareness that we think that
IBS symptoms are normal. Or you know
what? It's normal to have acid reflux.
[music]
It's normal cuz all my family members
take Lexapro for their anxiety. I'm just
genetically anxious and I just need the
medication. It's just normal. If
everyone around you is overweight, you
start to think it's normal. If everyone
around you has problems sleeping [music]
and your mom says, "Stop complaining
about it. I sleep 5 hours a night." You
start to think it's normal. If everyone
around you is ill, you start to think
that illness is the status quo. It is
not normal. Self-awareness is one of the
hardest skills to develop and it is the
thing that will help you the most in
terms of your longevity and your healing
journey. And the best person to see is
actually your significant other because
they see you on a day-to-day basis, the
good, the bad, and the ugly. Now,
self-awareness is key for living a long
and healthy life. And in my opinion,
longevity is not about biohacking. It's
about understanding balance. But if you
can't balance yourself because your gut
is inflamed, your digestion's off, or
food makes you feel worse instead of
better, you need to get to the root
cause of it. So, if you're dealing with
bloating or food sensitivities or gut
issues that are dragging you down, I
actually just put together a brand new
free guide that walks you through how I
fix bloating and food allergies with
traditional [music] Chinese medicine.
Simple and practical guide. It's a great
way to start living like you actually
want to live to 100. It's [music] the
first link right below this video. I'd
highly recommend checking it out. And
now, let's get into my final thought
here. People trust authority way too
much and don't think, you know, I see
this quite a lot, especially for people
who are really sick. There's a certain
percentage of the demographic of the pop
of of the US that just trust authority.
And that's normal. It's on some level
normal to trust your doctor, but it
becomes abnormal when you've gone to a
doctor three, four times and that
[music] voice says, "I do not believe
this to be true. I know I don't have
medical training, but there's got to be
something else." When you ignore that
voice, you're in a very vulnerable
position. symptoms are dismissed or
explained away. It's just fatigue. It's
just anxiety. It's just headaches. But
one thing I've seen is my patients who
do the best long term, they question
everything. They may value a doctor's
advice, whoever it [music] is, but if it
doesn't accord with their own gut
instincts, those are the people who
often will figure out that there is
something going on and they live long
lives and they fix the problems. So
sometimes getting over this implicit arr
where you take agency over your own life
and your own healing. So just my [music]
rants here guys uh today some thoughts
about the status of health care and
medicine. I don't say these to rag on
medical professionals. I say these to
help you as the person or the patient
who needs help. Stand up for what you
believe. Trust your instincts [music]
and always get a second or third
opinion. Now if you've made it this far
into this video, it probably means this
message resonates with you on a deeper
level. Maybe you've tried the
supplements, the stress hacks, the
lifestyle changes, and something is
still missing. That's where personalized
care comes in. In my private practice in
Los Angeles or virtually via tele
medicine, I work one-on-one with people
who are done guessing.
People who are ready to get to the root
cause of their digestive problems,
anxiety, insomnia, burnout, or fatigue.
