Hello, you guys.
It is Dana.
Welcome back to Decorate with Dana.
In today's video,
we are decorating the family room for winter.
I took Christmas decor down probably a week,
over a week ago.
So it's been really bare and it's been really nice,
I will say, having it be so clean,
but I am definitely missing that cozy factor.
Christmas, of course,
always makes everything feel so cozy and warm.
So I am missing that cozy factor.
So I'm trying to find that balance
between still keeping it simple and kind of clean feeling,
but yet feeling cozy at the same time.
So we are adding some different textures,
throw pillows and blankets and some woods
and mixing some metals and marble
and just different items to bring that cozy factor back.
And I hope that you guys will enjoy this video.
I hope it gives you just a little bit
of decorating inspiration.
I'm also really excited to say that today's video
is in collaboration with my really good friend
here on YouTube, Tabby from Tabby's Treasured Home.
If you guys have not already seen Tabby,
I did collaborate with her in the past.
If you haven't gone to check her out,
I'm going to have her video and her channel linked down
in the description box.
You have to go check her out.
You will absolutely love her videos.
She is probably the sweetest,
kindest person that I've ever met.
And she's funny.
Her videos are entertaining.
She's an impeccable decorator.
She does decorating.
She does recipes like day in the life lifestyle
type of videos.
She'll do thrifting and DIYs.
She does it all.
She's amazing.
Make sure you guys go down and check her out
because I know you will absolutely love her
as much as I do.
And if you are new here and you're coming over
from Tabby's channel,
I just want to say hello and welcome.
I hope you guys enjoy my video.
I also do very similar videos to Tabby.
I do all decorating and lifestyle type of videos.
Sometimes I'll do a day in the life,
DIYs, shop with me's, thrifting, all that fun stuff.
So anyways, again, I'm going to have Tabby's channel
and video linked down in the description box.
And without further ado,
let's get decorating the family room for winter.
I like to start out my decorating
pretty much with a blank slate.
So here I've cleared out anything that I could
besides obvious pieces of furniture or lamps
or things that will definitely stay in the space
so I can have a fresh start.
I always like to go on YouTube
and find some kind of frame TV art.
I do not have a frame TV,
but you can find some beautiful art
to make it look like you have a frame TV.
And then I always start here on the mantel.
So I just wanted to clean it.
I had already dusted everything,
but I did want to clean this mirror really quick
before I started decorating.
I love layering a small picture in front of the mirror.
This is a Petal Lane home picture
that I found at HomeGoods.
It's a nice neutral print landscape art,
and it just looks really pretty here on the mantel.
Next to that, I have these silver twisted
tapered candle holders that are from Anthropologie.
I love mixing metals, the silver with the gold mirror.
To that, I am just adding a couple
of cream color twist candles to the tapered candle holders.
To the other side of the mirror,
this is a vase that I did a DIY on.
I think it was back in the fall.
To that, I am adding these really beautiful stems.
These are really kind of very twiggy looking stems
that have what look like the slightest little bit
of buds as you would find in very early spring.
Of course, we are nowhere near buds on the trees here,
but I didn't want to add full greenery.
I just didn't feel like it fit the season.
So I thought this was the next best thing.
I cannot remember where I got these.
I've had these for a couple of years,
but they are definitely one of my favorites.
This is pretty much all I'm going to do on the mantel.
I just like to keep it very simple.
Down here on the hearth, I have this basket
that I got from an antique show.
And to that, I store other blankets in there,
and then I just like to take
this cozy knit brown throw blanket
and just have it draping out over the side.
I always switch what chair I have in this corner.
This time, I decided to bring down this boucle,
cream or white colored chair for the corner.
It's just a large corner,
and it just seems to fit it really nicely.
And behind there, I am adding an olive tree that I've had.
I think it was one that I purchased from Amazon,
and it just fits the space nicely back behind there.
If you see, there is a little cat perch back there also.
The cats love to get up there and look out the window.

Next to the chair, I'm adding this round end table
that is a purchase from Wayfair.
To that, I am layering a coffee table book,
a marble scalloped tray that I purchased from Amazon,
and then my candle fountain lamp
that I got from a local craft show.
Love this, I love the soothing sound
that the water fountain makes.

To cozy up the chair a little bit,
I have a knit blanket that is from Walmart.
This is part of the beautiful collection,
and then this beautiful pillow
that is from the Better Homes and Gardens
has just a little bit of blue.
I'm just trying to tie in a little bit of blue
throughout my decor,
and I think this pillow is a perfect addition.
Next to the TV stand, I have to keep it very low profile
so I don't add any large vases with big stems or anything.
I am stacking two of my favorite coffee table books,
and then this brown scalloped candle
is from Target back in the fall.
To that, I am just adding a wick trimmer,
and then I have two candle holders
that are from Pottery Barn.
And first, I add these leaf candles.
They were from the fall collection at Target.
They are one of my favorite taper candles I've ever had,
but I do end up switching those out
for some cream color battery-operated candles.
Even though I love these,
they felt a little bit too fall for me.
And then on the other side, I am layering another,
actually, I try two coffee table books here,
but I end up taking one away,
and to that, I'm going to add a travertine vase
that I got from HomeGoods about a year ago.
♪ Your eyes are shining like the stars ♪

This little table next to the sofa
is also from Wayfair.
To that, I am adding another book.
I think I do switch this out for a little bit smaller book,
but I am adding a candle holder.
Again, I do switch this one for a different one,
and then just a family photo.
I love to add little personal family photos around.
I think it just really makes your space
feel unique and more personal.
But like I said, I do switch out the book
and the candle holder here.
Normally, I would put a vase with a floral
or some type of greenery arrangement,
but it is the winter,
so I'm just gonna keep it really simple.
And then to the bottom of this table,
I have a little ceramic duck
that I got from an antique festival.

Of course, we can't forget the dog's toys.
These cute little striped ruffle baskets
I found from HomeGoods.
They are perfect for storing blankets
or in this case, dog toys.
I have a couple of throw pillows.
The first one, big brown one, is from Walmart.
It's beautiful.
And then I have a pillow cover here that was from Amazon.
And then again, another one of those blue pillows
that is from Walmart there in the center of the sofa.
And the same two throw pillows
on the other side of the couch also.
To the coffee table,
I am adding this round woven tray from HomeGoods.
I love this tray because it has a flat bottom
so everything stays nice and in place.
Then I'm adding my water vessel that is from Olivetelier.
And then these white stems,
I got from a local craft show a long time ago.
They're really like fall stems,
but I think they work great in the winter
because I just don't wanna put out florals,
like I said, at this point.
So I think that they look really nice.
And then also to this tray,
I'm adding another candle holder from Olivetelier
and then a match cloche that is from Amazon.
Here's a look at the final family room
decorating for winter.
I love the way that it looks.
It just feels simple, but yet with the chunky blankets,
the different textures,
I feel like it looks and feels really cozy now as well.
Also, a lot of candle lighting
really just cozies up the space.
I hope you guys got a little bit of decorating inspiration
from this video or that you at least enjoyed watching it.
