Hyas Lake Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Washington

All right we are here at the Taquilla trailhead in the Cascades about to head up into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness for one night. It's another crowded trailhead but there's a lot of trails here so hopefully not everybody's going to Highest Lake which is our destination for today. But it should be an easy walk always going to be beautiful in the Cascades don't have to worry about that. Let's get going. We were on a tight time window for this trip so we got an early start and intended on spending as much of the day as we could at the lake. The trail in was only a few miles long and flat. Before we knew it we were getting our first views of the lake. We hiked down to the far end of the lake and found a spot with views going up and down the valley. Now it was time to get set up and settle in. There it is. Since it was a short hike in it meant that steaks were on the menu. Now I'm not very good at filming my food so I don't have any shots of it but take my word for it it was perfect. The clouds were setting up to give us a great sunset. You just had to brave the hordes of mosquitoes to see it. Well good morning. It is morning day two. We're pulling out here shortly. What a spot. Lots of people as usual as expected but we were able to settle in here and really most people pass this place by. They don't stop even though I will say that most of the campsites were full. Heading back here pretty quick. Should be an easy hike out. Hell of a day yesterday. Even though this was just a quick trip I got to spend some quality time with people that I don't get to see enough of in a beautiful place that was new to all of us. It seems that time is just racing by me these days but I can say for a day at Highest Lake it slowed down just for a little while.
