Here is the result of the express entry evaluation test
You can see the various factors and the total score which is 454 points for our Senegalese candidate
In this video we'll show you how to calculate your score for the preliminary
Express Entry draw to determine whether it's worth applying and submitting a profile
We'll go back up to this link—you'll find the link
in the description And we'll keep going by refreshing
And then I'll show you how you can use the
score to determine how long you'll have to wait
So you see this tool You're told to use it if
you're eligible for at least one of the programs covered by the Express Entry
Without going into detail to qualify for express entry you must be a worker
That means you must have at least one year of professional experience in categories do 0 1 2 or 3
So if you have one year of experience you can start with that
The first question is about marital status
Our candidate is married so we'll select married Is your spouse
or common-law partner a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
That is not the case
Will your spouse or common-law partner accompany you
to Canada Yes in that instance
they will Then we will respond
That's the age It's quite typical We'
ll go with 37 years for our candidate
What is the highest level of education you have completed
And there you can see that you need to have had a diploma evaluation approved within the past five years to qualify for the required points
If you haven't already submitted your EDE you'll need to get it evaluated to receive the credits
Here are the different levels of education
I will pursue the highest path which is the doctoral degree
Next comes the master's degree which is the necessary professional qualification
So that'll be everything at the bachelor's plus five level
Professional degree refers to qualifications such as those for doctors veterinarians pharmacists and similar fields
Next you must have at least two graded certificates as part of the diploma
At least one of these credentials was earned by completing a post-secondary program of at least three years
So if you've completed a three-year degree you'll select this line
Here the baccalauréat is what is known as a Bachelor's degree in Canada
It is equivalent to the bachelor's degree in the LMD system meaning three years of university or college study
Here a two-year post-secondary program
Here it's one year of study after high school so after the baccalaureate
Secondary school diploma for high school none if you don't have a diploma
So our candidate—since it was mentioned he obtained a nursing diploma that will be equivalent to a bachelor's degree with three years of study
And there you're asked have you obtained a Canadian diploma or certificate That's
not the case
Next we move on to official languages
The official languages of Canada are French and English And
you're being asked to provide your language test results
So you've seen that the language test must have been
taken within the past two years otherwise it's no longer valid
So here have your language test results been less than two years old
We'll put yes
If you haven't already done so you can simply select yes to
estimate your score and get a general idea of where you stand
So which language test did you take
Here for French we have TEF Canada and TCF
Canada We'll go with TEF Canada
Next you are asked to enter the grades
So if you've taken the exam you now have your result
So you can enter the notes here
Note that in the eligibility criteria for express entry
You need at least a 7 out of 10 on the Canadian NCLC criteria
That translates to 349 or higher here
We'll say our candidate has studied very thoroughly and achieved
the maximum score to see what final point total we end up with
Do you have any other linguistic results
No we'll leave it blank
The rest are for English
Here he didn't pass so we'll leave it blank
Then we move on to the work experience section
So for work experience we'required to have qualified work experience in Canada
So we don't have any
We'll spend no more than a year on this
We'll continue with the overseas work experience
And you can see that it has been over the past ten years
Here we're still talking about the Faire 0 1 2 or 3 categories of the CNP
If you're interested let me know in the comments
and I'll make a dedicated video about the CNP matrix
So here we'll put yes
Our candidate has more than three years of experience
And you'll notice that one year two years or three years are the only options available
That's because in the global ranking system for express entry the points system the
maximum score you can achieve
is based on three years of experience
Whether you have twenty-five years of experience or
just three you'll earn the same number of points
It's simply more effective when you present your professional experience in a strategic way
Only report the last three years or the three years for
which you can provide the most supporting documentation
such as taxes pay stubs employer letters and so on
Next question 7: Do you hold a provincial competence certificate
Is it a Canadian federal territory organization No
that is not the case
Certificates of qualification are for individuals who have completed
training programs in Canada such as carpentry welding and similar trades
Generally they hold a qualification certificate to practice in the province where they were trained
And now we reach the final section for the primary applicant
What are the additional points
So do you have a valid job offer supported by a labor market impact study
Most people don't have it so we'll say no
Do you have a provincial certificate or
designation So no in that case either
Do you or your spouse or common-law partner have at
least one brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident
So if you select yes you'll earn extra points
That doesn't apply to us
And now we'll move on to the husband's educational background
So these are the same questions to which we've already provided answers
but for the husband because there is a husband category
which adds to the situation since the person accompanying will also be applying for a visa
So our candidate is married and his spouse also holds a high school diploma
No experience in Canada
Yes they took a language test
So they took the TCF with the following scores
Very good
They prepared very well and received excellent grades
And you can see that at the end we calculate your results
And there you have the breakdown of all the categories
So you see the fundamental factor of human capital
We have 300 points
That's mainly the level of education and languages
Spouse factor so 28 points from languages
Once again related to skill transfer
Here we have 75 points because we managed to score 50 points here during the skills transfer
with international experience and a Canadian language proficiency level 9 plus additional points
We only have the French language proficiency that brings us 25 more points
Thus here we have a total score of 428 points for our candidate
And with the breakdown you can see where you can go to earn extra points
So you see we're at zero points for the second official language
You can earn additional points by taking the second language exam
In that case it will be English
And for the other factors you can see here that for additional points
You can earn additional points for bilingualism if you score 5 or higher on the English exam
Now 428 points—what does that actually mean
To find out we'll need to check the invitation rounds
I'll also include the link in the description
And there you can see that the final round of invitations was sent on October 26 with 3 600 invitations dispatched
And the lowest score was 431 points
That means our candidate here who is a nurse with 428 points wouldn't have been invited
Because although the type of round is specific
to healthcare professions and he is a nurse he would therefore be involved in this particular round
He doesn't have the required score to be granted access to the express entrance
Therefore what I would recommend to our candidate is to study English in order to take an English proficiency exam
Here you go—hopefully this video teaches you how to calculate your preliminary entry score for Express Entry
As I've already told you this tool is for reference and general guidance purposes only as stated by the government
Still it's quite accurate
Therefore if you answer the questions correctly and fill in the appropriate fields based on your language test score and your studies
You'll need to have something very close to the actual score you'd achieve if you registered for the express entry and completed a profile in the candidate pool
There you go I hope this was helpful
